Travellers' Choice
Langtry Manor was built in 1877 by Edward VII for his mistress Lillie Langtry. It was an extremely elegant and luxurious home and served as their hideaway and love nest. Following substantial re-development the Hotel is now one of Bournemouth’s finest and most welcoming hotels. Our staff pride themselves on their service and attention to detail and look forward to welcoming you to the peace, comfort and heritage of Langtry Manor.

The place is beautiful from the outside. Location-wise, can't fault it etc. However, the rooms and the manor house itself feels like it hasn't been renovated for 30 years. Needs desperate renovation. Contrast this with the Derby hotel next door (where you go for breakfast), and you will really notice it. I wouldn't have minded too much, but we paid £270 for the night, which is pretty extortionate for a very dilapidated room. There is a huge opportunity here to make this an incredible place to stay, and it's just disappointing. Moreover, the hotel is only staffed at certain times of the day. We arrived early and there was nowhere to leave our things before we headed off to the beach. On leaving the hotel, we asked reception if we could leave our things again, before coming back later, and was told that we simply couldn't as there was nowhere to leave our bags at the hotel. So we went back to the sister hotel next door, asked the same question and they took our bags without a quibble.

When we booked room we were not told that there was time slots for breakfast so when we arrived we were told there was only two left one very early one late. They gave money back as the staff were pushed for breakfast told it would help them so they didn’t have to rush. As for the Room it was absolutely filthy from thick dust, mould and rubbish from other residents, even the bedding had large stains on surfaces. All surfaces were thick with dust bathroom stinks of damp as fan is blocked and doesn’t work. Glasses by the sink one has lipstick on. Have stayed in better £30 rooms this is no way worth £180 have taken pictures hope I can add them on here. We are both really considering about just packing up and going back home when this is a special day for us to celebrate. Such a shame when this is such just an easy fix. THIS TIME YOU CAN NOT BLAME COVID 19 THIS IS JUST PURE LAZINESS!!!

Room was a great size with a view over the garden (room 5) Bed was a king size and very comfortable The shower room was tiny but in a historic house I assume it’s difficult trying to squeeze one in without taking too much of the bedroom space and it was perfectly adequate. Breakfast at the sister hotel ‘Derby Manor’ was absolutely amazing & I’d like to stay there next time we go to Bournemouth but it was a lot more expensive. All staff at both hotels were excellent & an absolute credit!

We stayed here for one night at £250. Bathroom was visibly moudly, and the whole room smelt really quite terribly of damp I struggled to sleep. I can see a review from a year ago advising the exact same thing about the same room, so management have not taken this feedback onboard. I was honestly happy to leave, and was close to tears when I saw the room as it was just so below standard. The bed/chairs were all stained along with the carpet. Sofa cushions sagged so much you’d think holmer Simpson had sat there for 20 years. I really don’t see this to be luxury, it was not a nice stay due to the cleanliness and needs a major remodel.

Nice hotel and lovely staff, however the price we were charged was excessive in my opinion (£245 for 2 nights - room only). On our tour of Oxfordshire and Dorset (staying in 3 hotels) this represented the worst value taking everything into account. We were in Room 14 (in the attic). The room was fine but the shower room was the smallest I’ve ever experienced (and I’ve stayed in many hotels for work and leisure). There’s no lift so you have to lug your cases to your room up a steep flight of stairs. We’re pretty fit but something to bear in mind. It’s within reasonable walking distance of Bournemouth Beach and parking on site is free which is good.
