This hotel is filthy - first room i was offered, the carpet had holes in it, the curtains were torn and the bathroom stank of stagnant water and an unclean toilet, we changed rooms but had to pay a further £100 Rooms are not serviced during the stay(due to Covid) surely cleanliness is most important at a time like being in the middle of a pandemic. Service in all areas is virtually non existent (one guy on reception was very helpful) but was so fed up with all the complaints. When i questioned the cleanliness of public areas and the rooms i was told they do NOT have the staff to do the job. So they should NOT be open for business. There is no food or drink available during the day, Only breakfast and dinner, which i might add is appalling - very little choice and of very poor quality. The outside areas around the terrace were filthy tables and chairs were filthy (never saw anyone clean them at all) - MY ADVICE - FIND ANOTHER HOTEL!!!

Stayed for 3 nights 11th, 12th and 13th June, the room was tiny and run down, nothing like what was advertised on Booking.com. You have to pay for the WiFi which is far from cheap. No car park so had to constantly drive around looking for somewhere to park as it gets so busy at the weekends, £20 for 24 hours I had to pay because it was the only car park in walking distance that had a spot free. The place hasn’t been decorated for years and needs a serious make over. Cheap, crap drinks on offer at the bar. It smells. Requested early check in for 1 o’clock which got accepted but when arriving couldn’t check in till 4. The price of the room was appealing but could have got a premier inn for the same cost and it would have been such a nicer stay as felt like wiping my feet on the way out .

I had a two night stay booked 9/10 June, on the first morning at breakfast it took me 3 waiters to understand that I had a very serious egg allergy, finally a very switched on waiter took the lead on the booking the FOH F&B manager was dashing around but not interested. On the second day, a similar predicament although unfortunately I couldn’t locate the same waiter or any manger/FOH/F&B manager. The waiter rushed our order and on three occasions we told him I had a serious egg allergy and he said “yes yes, I understand” He brought my plate with no full egg on it, and I quickly noticed that it had a piece of egg with yolk on the side of the plate and told him- he said it must of come off the other plate when he was carrying it. My partner explained again about how serious my egg allergy was, I looked for a manager and no one was there. He brought back the same plate but can wiped the egg off it!!! Please please educate your staff on the importance of allergy awareness, this incident could of left me fighting for my life. Allergies are serious and shouldn’t be ignored. We went to complain when we left straight after breakfast but they were queuing out of the door.

This is quite possibly the worst hotel I’ve stayed in The hotel is run down and tired! You are instantly put off the hotel as soon as you walk to the room, the smell in the hall ways is horrendous, the rooms haven’t been decorated since the 90’s (that is being generous) There were mouldy marks on the bedding, Curley hairs etc. When we spoke to reception and advised our room was poor; we were offered to upgrade to sea view at an extra cost of £120, or £40 for a slightly different room but we were advised that they get complaints about that room too because of the noise. The food was pretty poor and tasted like it had been reheated several times, my husband spent most of the night rather unwell. The grounds again are tatty; the grass is over grown, everything was dirty and tired. Breakfast was awful, service was very slow with most tables complaining constantly but no one seemed to care. The only decent thing about the hotel is the location, the rest of it is run down and staff do not seem interested at all

We stayed for 4 nights on National Holiday's Coach trip. On arrival and still on the coach, we were handed our room cards to speed check in. The entrance to the hotel once inside is very impressive and welcoming. (Photo attached). It is a large hotel and we agree is in need of redecoration and some of the lounge/ bar furniture is abit worn. HOWEVER, it is not as bad as some have made out. Our room was of a good standard with good sized bathroom including shower and bath. Please take your own toiletries. Tea/Coffee facilities are provided and also we had a hairdryer and a desk fan as the room was warm. Spa facilities closed due to Covid Restrictions but it did look like some progress was being made in that area as the pool had been emptied and refilled. The food was excellent with a good menu choice and plentiful, and always on hot plates. Some improvement on staff training is required though but in view of current restrictions they are trying their best. We found the staff to be very polite in the dining room but abit slow to serve. Hotel location is great for the beach and pier. We would return to this hotel and we feel some previous reviews have been unfair. You need to see the display cabinet near reception to appreciate what a wonderful hotel this once was and could still be again. Thank you Royal Bath Hotel. We had a lovely stay.
