Arrived on Alfa coach holiday on Sat 4th Sept. Hotel looked run down but location minutes from coast and spotlessly clean. Believe closing soon as new owners but staff were very helpful and friendly and the food excellent. Set meal times but it worked and gave us plenty of time for exploring & our included trips. Entertainment repetitive as always vocalists but they were all very good. My single rom was small as I had a double bed but quiet as at the back. Very, very hot first few nights as no air con. Would love to return to Bournemouth and maybe hotel with outside space.
We stayed here 15/21 August traveling with Alfa Travel. The street the hotel is down isn't very nice with lots of other ex hotels turned into flats, the parking around there was terrible the coach driver had to reverse down from the main road between the parked cars to get us there and there is no outside sitting areas other than outside the front door where the smokers sat but the hotel is what it is 2* and it is up for sale so be kind to the 5* staff. Our room was clean and food lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for us even giving thee son a big box of chocolates and a card for his birthday, we enjoyed our stay.
Came here for a three night stay yes I hear it was cheap what should I expect! Well where do I start, as you walk down the litter covered road I say litter that’s being polite and are greeted by a very tatty looking hotel with ripped net curtains. Receptionist was lovely and gave us our room key. Our double room was I am sure a single size very cramped. Sat down on the bed and could feel the springs but room wasn’t too dirty and towels and bedding clean. I am extremely worried about the shower which is a step up of about 32 cm high, there is a grab rail inside which you can use to pull yourself up as long as you twist to get through the doors which don’t open very far. The walkways are full of cleaning items and laundry bags in the morning so can be difficult to pass if you were to have a Walker or crutches like me. One very good point the lift goes down to street level although when you stand and wait for the lift at street level you are standing in all sorts of rubbish. Unfortunately we were unable to change rooms as hotel was full and we made the most of things. The food was ok and waiting staff very kind. Our last night we arrived for dinner and our table was occupied by others we were told there was a coach party in and we had to wait for another table to be made up. The corridors were not disabled friendly with lots of steps in odd places. It’s very noisy at night as well obviously the hotel can’t help this as it’s not a very nice area. Self drive good luck finding somewhere to park and too be honest you wouldn’t want to leave it outside, we did one night and had the remains of someone’s breakfast on the car roof. Travel lodge car park not too far and is £12 per night. Windows in room very dirty with birds muck piled onto the outside window ledge. Frames covered in mould.…
From boarding the coach to leaving the coach on our return, I can only say good things about our holiday.Devon Towers Hotel is a bit dated, but the quality of care cleanliness and food is second to none. Evening entertainment is good with Bingo and a singe, in my opinion Friday being the best night. The restaurant is very efficient, we were served by a Bulgarian girl and she was a delight, Alfa Travel of whom we travelled with are well organised and our driver Gary was absolutely excellent and a credit to Alfa.
We booked in on 4 Jul 2021 for six days we tried to have a shower and the door fell apart and the shower was leaking quite a lot underneath. We reported it to the reception who said they would get someone to look at it, 2 days later maintenance man came up and said he could fix the door but not the shower, it has been an ongoing issue for 5 years, so every time we used the shower we had to mop up the water, which to me is not expectable
