I found this hotel very clean, the staff very friendly and helpful and the food was good and plentiful. Yes, like many other hotels in Torquay and many other places, it is in need of refurbishment but there is evidence that this is taking place bit by bit i.e. most of the furniture in the public areas and bedrooms are brand new. The only problem I had was I am not an entertainment person but you don't have to stay in.
