Stayed in the en-suite of the Stephen Hawking Building in early August 2023. Very good for a dormitory room. Spacious and clean. Only very basic amenities are provided though. In the bathroom, a piece of soap, a small bottle of shampoo and shower gel; In the room, a kettle, a mug, a spoon, Cadbury chocolate mix, some tea bags, a cookie. So, no slippers, shower cap, cotton pads, etc. But it's sufficient since I was there for a conference, not for leisure. The rate included breakfast which was provided in the Harvey Court building across from Stephen Hawking Building. The breakfast offered great variety of hot food (egg, saugage, harsh brown, grilled tomato, etc.) and cold stuff (fruits, yogurt, cereal, etc.), but it's the same every day during the 5 days I was there. No complaint though because the food was good. I will definitely stay there again if for business/conference.

Friendly staff, big rooms, generous breakfasts, for a fraction of the price of a hotel. We were able to book two adjacent rooms for ourselves and our teenage child cheaper than a shared hotel room in Cambridge. A short walk from the city centre, with pleasant gardens outside our window in Harvey Court.

The stay was absolutely wonderful. Felt like staying there for more days. The staff was so kind and helpful and attended to our needs swiftly. Everything was perfect, have no complaints. You should definitely visit here. The environment is so peaceful and there is nothing to complain about. I review 5 stars to this accommodation. This accommodation is magnificent and luxurious. We came to Cambridge to visit the lovely town and all the colleges of Cambridge. The staff is so friendly and kind. I recommend this accommodation highly and you should definitely visit here. We stayed in the Stephen Hawking Building and we loved everything about it. If you're thinking of going here don't think twice about it. You will love it.

Group of 6 adults and three children 9,9 and 12. Ours was a double room with en suite,
how student accommodation has changed ! Very clean room with tea making facilities.
Decent size shower room/ toilet. Towels changed daily if required. Lift and stairs.
Comfortable bed , white linen,
Great breakfast, hot food and the usual tea/coffee/ fruit juice. Large tables to seat 10.
On site staff polite and helpful. Limited parking but we pre- booked so no problems.

We feel we have made a secret discovery here as staying in the Stephen Hawking Building at Gonville and Caius College’s West Road site was an unexpectedly special treat. We chose it as for its economy and central location and held our expectations low but we were really bowled over by the experience of staying there.

The first plus are the porters who welcome you and help you with such kindly friendliness that you immediately feel at home.

Secondly, the building itself is a magnificent architectural triumph from the sweeping Art Deco staircases, the airy light from the windows, the art in the foyer, and the curving wooden framed corridors.

Thirdly, the room itself. We were on the first floor looking out over the back garden onto the most mighty of pines. It was so private and quiet. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped.

Finally, we have to mention the breakfast. This was a sumptuous feast which we took full advantage of and was facilitated by professional, efficient and excellent staff.

We came to Cambridge for our 16th wedding anniversary weekend. I grew up in Cambridge but have not been back for 20 years. This was my husband’s first visit. We will come again and stay here. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

We visited Cambridge to see a concert held next door at the West Road Concert Hall. Friendly porter service and speedy check in. The room, normally occupied by a single undergraduate was amazing. Clean and smart decor. Comfy double bed with lovely soft duvet. Complimentary soap etc. Breakfast next door in Harvey court was excellent - good choices of cooked and continental. And - fabulous in central Cambridge - secure parking at £15 per day! Only a short, and beautiful walk into Cambridge via the bridges over the Backs. Definitely worth a visit.

I had a really good stay at the Stephen Hawking building and shall certainly look to stay again. Very nice rooms, very clean, quiet and spacious - if those are regular student rooms then they are very lucky - much more comfortable than when I was a student. The building is just a decade old and was being given a lick of paint. Friendly porter 24 hours a day and a welcome email prior to arrival. Good to be able to come and ago at your leisure without the constraints of B&Bs or hotels. And also to escape the tourist crowds in central Cambridge in August. The college has beautiful mature gardens to wander.

We stayed at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge - university rooms for 3 days. It was a really good stay for the price. The bed was maybe a little too small, but the room was so nice and clean. We had a ground floor room and had to open the full glass door out to the garden.
The staff were so nice, welcoming and helpful, it was a real pleasure

Hello Louise, We only offer breakfast facilities I'm afraid. However, the nearest restaurants and pubs are approximately a 5 minute walk (500 metres) away. There is also a vending machine available on-site for any late night snacks! Many thanks, Simon
