We offer ten stylish bedrooms in a recently refurbished Georgian merchant’s house at the top of the city. We offer an alternative to the corporate environment of city hotels, providing a contemporary 'home away from home' feel — focusing on the highest level of comfort and care. With panoramic city views from the rear of the building and the vast expanse of Clifton Downs to the front we are ideally placed for a short stop-over or weekend city break.

Really enjoyed it and very attractive place. A bit chilly in the bathroom and no body lotion an eccentric economy in such a swish place, but would recommend. Ask to look over the back, and beware an additional £5 charge for some cooked breakfasts, not advised at time of booked

This place met my and my parents' expectations (apart from a hair in the bath and the creaky stairs - can't complain much). Very nicely decorated in room 5. Beautiful stunning view of Bristol. Nice homely atmosphere. Parking can be difficult and luckily was given a one day

You have to set your mind to a luxury British B&B with all the goodies of a proper boutique hotel. This is not a place to compare to the high-end boutique hotels in the main cities of the world, this is a true gem. The service is very personal, the facilities are extremely

This review is rather late. I stayed at 38 Clifton for 2 days last August. I wanted to be based in the lovely Clifton area of the city, with its pleasant walk into town, but also just a short walk from the suspension bridge and Clifton village itself. The B&B is situated in a

I would echo the other answers. If you are only going to visit in and around the city centre then using the buses is your best option, and you don't need a car. You can also get buses to and from Clifton village, and the zoo is easily walkable. If you want to explore outside of Bristol (Cotswolds for example) then you will need a car.

what is the car parking situation at this hotel? Is it on street or dedicated parking plot?
Dear Robert186466 Thank you for your question regarding parking. We can confirm we are able to put guests staying for one night on our waiting list for a parking permit – please check with reception when you book. Unfortunately, all of our parking permits have to be reserved for guests staying for more than one night during the week (we only have 4 permits and 9 bedrooms) – due to the restrictions outside it means that people wanting to leave their car for more than one day would not be able to do so without a permit. Guests who are staying for one night during the week should not be affected by the parking restrictions outside as they are able to pay for parking either side of check-in and check-out. The pay and display parking is restricted between the hours of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with a maximum stay of 3 hours. As our standard check-in time is 3pm, this allows you to pay for parking for 2 hours at £1 per hour, and again in the morning from 9am to 11am at check-out time. You can pay for parking via the telephone which means that you do not need to go outside to place a ticket on your car – we can provide the details upon check-in. You can of course check with us again in the morning of your stay to see if any permits have been returned before you pay for your parking. The pay and display bays are on the opposite side of the street to Number Thirty Eight, which runs parallel to the park. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
