From the very first moment we walked through the front door, we were made to feel especially welcome by the wonderful manager and his genuinely caring staff. There were warm, friendly smiles all round, accompanied by convivial pleasantries regarding our well-being and journey.

This is was the 2nd time I've been this year as part of a large party for a celebration meal. The food is massively overpriced and not very nice. Several of the party left food on their plates. The atmosphere is appalling, it feels like a funeral home with large cold rooms

The previous answer is correct in that the nearest station is Matlock and then it is bus or taxi. The reviewer who suggested that you could get to Manchester from Matlock had not made allowances for the closures instigated by Dr Beeching in 1966 since the line from Bakewell to Buxton (The Monsal Trail) is now a brilliant walking track with all the tunnels open to make a fascinating experience. The express bus into Buxton and then the train would be the simplest way to get to Manchester. Alternatively the local bus to Sheffield and then the train.
