Wow !!! What an absolutely amazing, romantic and relaxing experience. This is a hidden treasure not too far from us. My wife and I chose the Cuddles for us package and we were welcomed and treated like royalty. From the time we entered the gates and greeted by a friendly lady and an adorable blue eyed Husky waiting for us and kindly showing us were to park and go for our welcome drink and breakfast to the minute we left we were treated with friendliness like a family. Had some good friendly conversations with the staff and manager. Annemarie and the other male chef was extremely friendly and pleasant with absolutely delicious signature meals and own signature cocktails (Cherry Fizz Pop - a must) and dessert which really made you feel like their motto : " A home away from home". The massage therapists and spa treatments were wonderful, relaxing and really concentrated on giving us the best experience for the entire time. It was really good that each treatment was done in a different room with its own scenery, ambience and atmosphere which allowed us to experience the most beautiful settings in the place. The air-conditioned room was very clean and tidy with a special sweet surprise and bubbly which made the evening and occasion even more special. Thanks Crystal Rose for a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back.

We enjoyed a stay over spa treatment package. The treatments were exceptional! Our room was comfortable but we would just suggest that shampoo and shower gel dispensers be placed in the rooms as although we were supplied with shampoo in small bottles, we were only given a bar of soap to wash with which did not lather well. We had breakfast the next morning which was good except for the wait of about 45 minutes and my partner had to return hers to be heated up but overall a very enjoyable stay! We will recommend the venue to our family and friends

Everything was of high quality and enjoyable, except for the instant coffee and artificial orange drink provided on arrival. The least I would expect of a venue at this high level would be proper filter coffee and fresh orange juice. The initial impression was therefore disappointing. But everything else after that was excellent. The treatments were professional and the therapists friendly and helpful.

Our stay at the Crystal Rose was enjoyable and relaxing and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. My only issues were with the rooms. I would highly recommend including bar fridges in the rooms with a bottle of clean cold water. I also think installing a few hooks around the room for guests to hang bags, gowns, towels etc. would be very beneficial =)

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We appreciated your input to add some hooks in the room, We will take this up with management for investigating. Unfortunately our room do not come with bar fridges as we are not self catering. We do have a Bar and restaurant where guests could purchase any beverages, water. Thank you for your suggestions.

We booked our stay in March of this year and due to lockdown regulations, we could only come now in September. We were disappointed in the fact the we got the smallest room available despite advance booking. Added to this, we had only enough hot water that evening for one person till half way through my wife’s shower. I waited some time yet still had to have a cold shower. At dinner, we emphasised my wife wanted well done steak and yet it was medium to rare at best. Also dinner felt very rushed in that no sooner had you finished a meal, the plate was cleared and the next course was placed in front of you. At the spa, we were disgusted in the fact that the therapists wash you down from a bucket. The same kind of buckets one would use to wash and mop floors with. As we have been to another establishment where we had a bigger room, with thick pile carpets, hot water with bath and shower, all your drinks, unlimited local beverages, and meals are included and further more the treatment seemed more professional and humane in that bowls are used and all for what is equivalent to less than what we paid in total for our stay at your establishment.
On the plus side the bed was very comfortable, thank you.

We did not find the whole experience a real value for money.

Thank you so much for your review, we value your input. We do apologize if you felt that the room was the smallest and if you felt that you were booked in there last minute, I assure you that this was not the case, we have standard and family rooms available, you and your wife were booked into one of our standard rooms, all the standard rooms size is that big, and the layout is the same. The lodge utilizes solar geysers, that could have been the reason for the cold water. You were welcome to contact the emergency number, our staff would have happily boosted the warm water for you, as mentioned at check in at reception if you needed anything. I have send your review through to the restaurant, Anne-marie, the restaurant manager, notices your input and will have a meeting with the staff to brush up on communication with clients to ensure that they enjoy dinner and not feel rushed. I assure you that the buckets used are not the same we mop and clean the floors with, they were especially purchased to use during the Covid 19 Lockdown Regulations, as we are not allowed to use the steel bowls we normally use, we do apologize for this, there is a couple of restrictions during this time, as with all other businesses. Please keep in mind that we are a 3 star lodge, and might not have facilities like carpets and double bathrooms, but our staff will go to the end of the earth to ensure that our clients are happy and well taken care off. Once again, thank you for your input, we love to get feedback from our clients, it always shows us where we can improve and better our service 

Whereas we understand that the food and massage won’t necessarily be the top of South Africa, we expected a bit more.
Every other spa that I have ever visited in my life offers, fresh, nutritious and delicious food.
(it doesn’t need to be complex but make it at least healthy and appealing to taste). The food was a huge plate of all carbs in different formats, warmed in the microwave. The staff kindly took the plates away when we indicated that this is not what we see as a snack before 2,5 hours of massages. We were brought a fruit salad but as the staff didn't ask for dietary requirements, the salad was mainly apple which I am allergic to.

Also the dinner menu was so one sided…meat with something. And again, it made us thought of the microwave bling that we heard more than once. Also, the promised welcome drinks were given to us 2 hours after arrival.

Our disappointment however started from us not being guided at all. We are being told that we will be explained and taken over everywhere but instead this was not done at all. (at any point). When my boyfriend very understandably was asking questions, the other lady was “joking” and said mr. asking all the questions. I get it that the person might have been joking but please just answer to your customers first.

And guys, don’t ask people sit in restaurants and walk back and forth in bath robes especially in the middle of the winter. That’s just not ok.

I would say the massage therapists were the nicest people in the property but you need to send them to some certified courses on your account. The massages were not making us relax..again, we were in cold rooms and in some tent that smelled like gas.

We decided to rather lose the money than stay overnight because also the standard rooms were not what we expected.

I am writing to provide feedback on my recent experience at your establishment. Overall, I had a pleasant time at the spa, and your staff members were friendly. However, I would like to address a few concerns that affected my overall satisfaction.

Firstly, while the spa experience was enjoyable, I was disappointed with the size of the waffles served. They were exceptionally small, leaving me feeling hungry afterwards. I would suggest considering larger portion sizes to ensure guests are adequately satisfied.

Secondly, I observed an incident involving the handling of gowns for one of the visitors. It was inappropriate for the staff member to check the sizes of the ladies' gowns in front of everyone and then deliberately give the largest one to a particular guest. This action made the guest feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. I recommend allowing guests to choose their own gowns to ensure their privacy and comfort.

Furthermore, a similar issue arose with the slippers provided. It would be beneficial to have a variety of sizes available for guests to try on before purchasing, as not all feet are the same. If a guest encounters discomfort or an improper fit, it would be advisable to exchange the slippers promptly and with a more accommodating approach.

Lastly, I noticed that the bedding in my room did not dry properly and had an unpleasant odor as a result. It is essential to ensure that all linens are adequately dried and aired to avoid any unpleasant smells, as it can significantly impact a guest's overall comfort and experience.

I hope you find this feedback helpful in improving the quality of your services. I appreciate the positive aspects of my visit and believe that addressing these concerns will contribute to an even more enjoyable experience for future guests.

Thank you for your attention and consideration.

Dear Lere7 Thank you so much for your feedback on your recent visit. We are happy to learn that your overall experience was pleasant and that you enjoyed the spa treatments and the hospitality of our staff. We would also do appreciate that you are addressing some of your concerns with us and we would like the opportunity to give you some feedback on the points you raised. In regards to the waffle options, we try to keep the portions for breakfast not to big as most guests will be receiving a Full body massage after the meals and they do not like the feeling of lying down on a full stomach whilst receiving the treatment as it might be uncomfortable - but we will look into that to see if we can up the size. In regards to the gowns and slippers - Guests give the therapists their sizes in advance, the therapist then goes and get the size the guests requests, sometimes it does happen that the guest feels that they would like a bigger size than they initially requested, because they want to have the snug feeling and then opt for a bigger size. The therapist would never deliberately do something to hurt or embarrass a guest - but if this was the case, we would love for you to get in contact with us with your date of booking so that we may investigate the matter further. Our slippers are proudly manufactured in South- Africa and our sizes range from small (3/4) medium (5/6) large (7/8) x-large (9/10) and 2xl (11/12). Guests give us the sizes before hand and we give them the size. For hygienic purposes, we do not let the clients fit the slippers beforehand. We don't wash and resell the slippers. In regards to the bedding in your room - Management will take this up with housekeeping to ensure that this incidents like this does not happen, We would like to assure you again, that our clients are our number one priority and we would never do something like this on purpose to hurt or offend them - we do apologize if this seemed like the case from your point of view, We hope that you will visit us again soon!

A home away from home! From the food that makes you want to go back for more to the amazing staff and management who make you feel like you're part of the family. Booking a couple of nights was the best decision for much needed relaxation and I definitely look forward to coming back with friends and family. The rooms are spotless and comfy and spa treatments are a wonderful experience I'd recommend 10X over, ask for Ntombi and thank me later.

The gardens that we walked through were beautiful but on arrival at the eating area it was disappointing. Very plain, no tablecloths and an odd table in the corner with what look like left over Christmas decorations. Inappropriate loud music and food was underwhelming.
During my first treatment a lady came in with a red plastic bucket and a tattie cloth. Thought she was going to clean the room but no it was used for my exfoliating scrub! Lovely lady but I just wanted to lie in piece, she chatted the whole way through. After that first treatment we enjoyed the rest of them very much.
