An old castle with amazing views - what more to ask for? Sure, the rooms can be a bit small, there is no elevator, lots of stairs and the occational dust in the corner, but on the other hand you get individually designed rooms, a lot of hospitality, free parking and the possibility to enjoy the braéakfast at the terrace with a view over the neighbourhood. The resturant is also very good with well prepared food and the same stunning view. I would stay herer again for sure!
As expected the room was quite eccentric and unique and very large! Bed was comfy as was the seating areas. Bathroom oldish but fine. The restaurant was the standout for me. David who looked after me for dinner was exceptional and had great knowledge of the food and wine. The food was delicious with a choice of starters mains etc in set menu style. Elegant decor which was also great to sit again for breakfast which was also excellent.
Our family of four stayed one night at the castle. It was magical! The suite was spacious, the service was fantastic and our dinner at the restaurant was delicious. The views from our room were gorgeous and having drinks out on the terrace was perfect. I can't say enough about this wonderful hotel! Thank you for making our stay special.
What a romantic, relaxing place. Just driving up to it, I was already feeling the mood when I saw a quaint old town perched on a steep hill, with a beautifully-preserved castle atop. Practical things that I liked: parking situation was good, the town around it is fun to visit, the bathrooms were very clean. What was really ideal was the peace and quiet, well-augmented by their spa which I visited first thing upon arrival to really get relaxed right away. The rooms are really romantic and quiet, with beautiful old wooden rafters. It is also very fun that you can climb up into the tower if you want to (I didn't, I found the stairs too claustrophobic, but others in my group did). Another nice thing to mention is that since we brought a large party, the kitchen chef met with us upon check-in to plan a menu for our group's dinner. While I know there was a practical consideration there, I actually think it enhanced our ability to just relax and enjoy the (really great) meal together. The breakfast is also excellent, they have a wide variety available and it was all delicious. The only reason it doesn't get full marks from me is the number of spiders... I know it sounds petty, but I really do have arachnophobia, and finding them above the bed, in the bathtub when I tried to take a bath, and even in the guest toilets in the restaurant took away a tiny bit of charm for me.…
Received very well; although they were not prepared for our daughter even though we communicated it was a reservation for two adults and a child. The room was terribly detailed. The light fixture fell off of the wall in the night, the wallpaper is pealing, and the floor was terribly creaky. One can say that it is an old castle, but we are fortunate enough to have stayed in a couple of others in the past, and this room was terrible. The bed for our daughter never arrived even though they tried to charge us for it. Nice dinner with excellent service. Breakfast was tasty, but the service was nonexistent.
Worth driving off the highway! Burg Trendelburg was amazing. A pretty little castle with picturesque views from everywhere. Very comfortable bedding. The friendly and charming staff were ready to help with everything- lugged our giant American suitcases up 3 flights for us. The restaurant was lovely with delicious food. The breakfast buffet had anything you would want or crave for breakfast. If I could give a higher rating I would!
We hired bikes and cycled from Hofgeismar to Trendelburg on wonderful bike paths. We had very nice lunch in restaurant before climbing many steps to top of tower for excellent views of beautiful farmland and nearby towns. Highly recommended
Made my reservation via their booking system and had some problems with their bank communicating with my credit card company. Even though it took about two months, we got the problem resolved. In the meantime, Sabine and Michael were excellent to work with so if you have a problem with the credit card company, stick it out. Our visit was definitely worth it! Beautiful countryside, quaint town. I booked two rooms - 1 for my teenage sons (20 and 16) and 1 for me. My boys thought it was a very cool place to stay. I loved the space I had - big enough for all three of us to hang out during some down time and a nice tub with bath salts for long soaks! At Christmas, everything was decorated and made the castle feel warm and inviting. The Staff was wonderful!! Catered to our dietary restrictions (gluten-free for Celiac) with every meal and even delivered to our room one evening. Food was 5-star - even my picky son tried everything! We enjoyed the Knightly meal and tour, although in German, so I didn't quite understand everything. We were the only non-German speakers, but we got the gist of it. And then on Christmas, they bring in a puppet show as entertainment between dinner courses. We made a reservation for the sauna and it was nice and toasty when we got there. Didn't get a chance for a massage or use the salt house, but hope to go back again! Our stay included breakfasts and dinners. Breakfast is typical European faire (varied collection of meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereals, yogurts, juices; soft cooked and even scrambled eggs with sausage and/or bacon. Dinners were incredible - soup/salad, main entree and desserts! Just a wonderful experience.…
Hotel Burg Trendelburg is located within the greater fairy tale region of Germany made famous by the Brothers Grimm. The interior is absolutely charming and the furnishings are reflecting the Middle Age - and earlier - period. The restaurant offers very romantic dinning room areas in addition to an excellent cuisine. The logical absence of an elevator in such an old and original castle is very much compensated by the very helpful staff assisting with luggage ... you have to climb stairs, however. I stayed in the lovely suite 19 on the third floor .... it was certainly worth the climb. My special compliments got the director of the hotel, Mr. Schumacher, who greatly assisted in making my stay most memorable. Take full advantage of the excellent cuisine ... especially ... game during the season. The wine list is also quite impressive ..... stay with the great German wines, both white and red !!!…
lovely setting and great carpaccio. Unfortunately, we ordered a Baron Philippe de Rothschild 2014 wine and was served a 2016. After sending it back, a 2014 was immediately produced. Unfortunately, both my colleague and I ended up with the runs and we ate totally different courses.
