The most ideal conferencing place, well-removed from the jostles of the city, this place has the ambience that anyone seeking fresh air will enjoy. Business or personal, this place is indeed a must-check! There are vast, well-tended grounds that can be used for a variety of activities, from just chilling with loved ones to huge team-building events

A large, somewhat worn complex with attractive and extensive gardens, within 30 minutes from Pretoria or Sandton. Rooms are huge and rather old, but clean, with decent showers and comfortable beds. Quite fine if you are not going to spend long in your room between conference or celebration activities. Some of our party’s aircons unfortunately were shockingly loud which prevented comfortable summertime sleep. The meeting rooms and banquet facility, which we used over our two-day conference, are pleasant and workable and good value for the price. This isn’t going to appeal to someone on a top-notch budget but for us it was quite fine. There was some road noise from parts of the property but not in the conference rooms. The food was the supreme highlight; my compliments to the catering staff!

Lovely little place. Great service. My steak was a little under cooked but after sending it back it came back super tasty and perfect. The bread basket wasn’t great, it was cold. Please support this place. A perfect place to have a relaxed special meal with the people you love.

We did not know that the R551 is under construction after Diepkloof and the GPS took us over a terrible piece of road. Managed after a number of detours to find our way back to the R551. Sad to say we were the only Sunday guests but the staff was very attentative and the set menu was very tasty and well presented. Good value.

From the welcoming drink by way of crisply-fried camembert chunks and traditional Christmas Turkey with all the trimmings to the dessert buffet everything was excellent. As with many plated meals the gravy was a little sparse but more was brought when we requested it. Highly recommended!

A quiet and convenient restaurant for a light lunch and a beer after exploring the area – specifically hiking Hennops. A tranquil garden with plenty of birdlife, attentive and very friendly staff, and a comfortable setting to unwind in. I’ll be back.

When you step into the place is like stepping backwards in time, the decor has that 70 look, You are greeted by a old delightful man, The head waiter, chatty and friendly, it's like he welcomes you in his own house. They had a fire going and the tables were set with full cutlery and plates, very traditional, the food was good and the service even better. Good place for a formal business dinner or a old style romantic dinner.

We took a few friends and family to Idle Winds to celebrate a 60th. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff are amazing, from Michelle who helped with general planning and the menu, Patrick who organised booking in and the restaurant. Everyone from waiters, bar staff and porter were polite and willing to help. Food was outstanding. Everyone helped make our celebration special.

Idle winds offer good facilities and food with clean accommodation.

Some notes:
- conference facilities are basic and clean
- basic food is offered during tea breaks and included toasted sandwiches or buscuits
- accommodation is neat and clean; offers bedroom with bathroom and coffee making facilities
- the braai dinner at the pub offered a good variety of meat and sides with the best desserts from all meals during the stay

It seems to be an older estate with a lovely garden and was a pleasant choice for a conference.

We visited Idle Winds restaurant on Sunday 10 Jan 2016 for lunch. The garden is peaceful and the restaurant calming and elegant. The air-conditioning was very welcome.

Service was excellent from very friendly, professional and attentive waiters. The food was wonderfully tasty, very well presented (complements to the chef here) and the portions generous, the menu varied and very reasonably priced. We especially appreciated the attention paid to the smaller things, such as the half a lemon wrapped, to catch the pips as you squeeze the juice over the fish, the sorbet served between courses to cleanse the pallet and so on. The filter coffee is of a particularly aromatic and flavourful variety. All together a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended.
