What a pleasant surprise to find and enjoy this bright star in the Britstown area ! The setting and accommodation and friendly reception and service made it an ideal stop over on our way between Cape Town and Gauteng. Well done !
Sweetfontein is geared for big events and one can see weddings there will be great. Lovely setting for beautiful photos. The quirky decor everywhere clearly took a lot of work and thought and are interesting to observe. Lovely gardens and common rooms to relax with friends. Watching the sun set from the stoep while having a sundowner, magical. The staff was friendly and helpful and we had a good laugh. The food was good (we are meat-lovers) and the portions ample. Needs better desert options. You can also braai and that looked great too. Standard breakfast, but the breakfast "juice", however, an abomination that has no room in an upscale establishment. A few basic but very important things need urgent attention: 1. Plugs. We (over 65) literally had to crawl under the bed to plug our phones and tablets into the only multiplug in the room. It had a short lead, was connected to a plug behind the bed and was left under the bed, where we eventually hunted it down. 2. It may be a working farm, but to have two roosters roaming free in the garden, whilst literally crowing non-stop night and day, did not make for a good rest. 3. If you offer free wifi, guests should not have to ask for the password, it must be provided. 4. Mixers are needed in the bathrooms. Both ourselves and our friends did the "shower dance" in our respective bathrooms, as the water alternates from ice cold to scalding hot. …
A friend got married at Sweetfontein - great service & gorgeous venue. Rooms were exceptionally clean, food was divine, the decor spoke to heritage & lovely area- overall a really memorable weekend!!!
Very nice stop on our way to the Cape. Lovely guest farm. Breakfast was awesome clean great staff nice bedding the shower head was a bit iffy - perhaps consider replacing lovely star viewing in the Karoo
This place is breathtakingly beautiful. It is soulful. The service is impeccable, the food (Dinner and Breakfast) was 5-star. One night is just not enough to enjoy what the property has to offer. Definitely a must stay destination.
