We loved it here. The perfect stop en route from Johannesburg to Augrabies Falls. Welcoming staff who made us feel very much at home. Our room (number 3) was very comfortable with seats out on the stoep to enjoy the view of the property and enjoy a sundowner.
Wishing the team here all the very best.

We enjoyed a delightful stay at Villiera Guest House. The staff were helpful and friendly, the food excellent and the accommodation fantastic. To top it all, we left our wallet (full of money and banking cards) in the safe. We called them the next day and they retrieved it - all intact. To add to the excellent service, one of the owners then drove all the way to Kimberley and sent it to us in Johannesburg via Post Net. Such relief, and what rare and wonderful experience. Thank you Villiera. We give you an AA Plus on all fronts!

I have stayed at Villiera a few times over December and January for a gliding holiday in Douglas. The accommodation is spacious, very comfortable and has a tranquil mood. The property is well laid out and the staff are friendly and accommodating when requests are made. I have only had breakfast at Villiera, which is good quality and the kitchen staff do make an effort to produce some variety of dishes. I would like to see a fruit salad every morning instead of just a bowl of fruit, which is a bit boring. I have stayed in many guest houses and this is excellent value for money and quality compared to a number of other 4 and 5 star establishment.

This is a great guesthouse. Set in a beautiful setting next to the Vaal River, it has the feeling of a wonderful oasis! Staff are very friendly and quality of rooms are of the highest standard. Excellent value for money. Meals were also very good. Highly recommend.

Amazing estate like premises. My room was very well appointed with all the amenities I could ask for, except a box of tissues. Proper filter coffee with a plunger....fantastic.

An honesty bar fridge with everything you need, including peanuts and lunch bars.

Linen, fittings, furniture, cuttlery, and airconditioner are all top quality.

Such a pity I will only be staying next year again.

A nice and pleasant surprise in the middle of nowhere, and definitely the best in Douglas by a long way. The facilities are limited but comfortable; the service is friendly but slow; and the locations is quiet but close to town. The food is good, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.

My main complaint is that occasionally there are noisy events e.g. women's night, weddings, work conferences etc. I have never understood why hotel owners, who are in the business or providing sleeping quarters, insist on then irritating their sleeping customers!?! Odd.

Room Tip: A bit of an issue - some rooms are next to the noisy swimming pool, others have tree branches...

We spent a night here in September 2014 for R750 B&B. The room and bathroom were lovely, clean and spacious. The swimming pool, around which some of the rooms are set, is large and refreshing. The gardens of the guesthouse are well looked after and pleasant to stroll around. Leave the premises of the guesthouse, however, and you find yourself in a dreadfully dreary and dull place with not a single building, shop or other facility of note. The town is completely without redeeming feature; dull, white working class houses, several small churches of no architectural interest, a huge township presenting the only bit of colour - at least with people on the streets and some life. A bit too much, perhaps, later in the evening, when the persistent "doef ... doef" of the "music" from across the river disturbed the silence, competing with "music" from the neigbours on the other side (sometimes I wonder why I leave the silence of of Jo'burg suburbia for the fantasy of rural peace and quiet!) To top it all, we had dinner at Die Geelhuis restaurant attached to the De Ghaap guesthouse. The plain Greek salad (plain as plain can be: shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, olives, cucumber and a bit of feta) was the best it could offer. Chicken livers themselves not bad but in a truly VILE peri-peri packet sauce. Steaks again not bad but ruined by an awful basting sauce; nice spinach mixture with bacon bits. Go for plain grilled meats - avoid all sauces! In fact avoid Douglas altogether except to stay at Villiera (pronounced VILL-I-EAR-A - I am sure this is a spelling error and the name should have been "Villieria" as in the Pretoria suburb). Prieska is a much prettier town, with some architectural interest - but I doubt any accommodation to match Villiera. Your choice! Whatever you do, don't stay in either place for more than one night. Breakfast was tolerable but dull - mostly consisting of an omelette with a soupy bacon/tomato/mushroom filling ... no fresh fruit to speak of. Keep moving ....

My husband and a friend stayed in the Villiera for almost a month during their gliding holiday in Douglas. I visited them with a friend for a week and we really loved this place. It’s a nice, quiet, and clean spot with a big garden with pool and some terraces. Breakfast is fine and you can have a good diner on request. The owners Paula and Ernie are really friendly and helpfull and do their utmost to make you feel comfortable.

This is a well-run and pleasant stop-over lodge in Douglas. Clean spacious rooms, good parking, and the staff seem to know what to do. There are not many options in Douglas and one can see why this is the best. It has everything you need for an overnight stay on your way to somewhere else. Close to the amenities, lovely pool area. They try very hard to make sure your experience is a good one and the multitude of positive reviews for this spot is testament to their good service and facilities.
