Let me start by saying Ben is awesome! The Fireside Lodge is a true gem tucked next to a National Forest. While most hotels are taking away amenities, the Fireside Lodge creatively gives you all you could ask for and more; wine & cheese, breakfast, bikes, paddle boards and s'mores.

We were actually leaving Lake Tahoe when our SUV broke down. Luckily they had a room for us during the week for our unexpected stay. We booked the room with Ben and it could not have been a more comforting place to stay after our grueling day. The next morning during breakfast we mentioned to Ben the details of our car issues. By the end of breakfast Ben was actually under the hood of our Range Rover tweaking our repair, filling our suspension with air and giving us the confidence we needed to make it safely home. He even offered to drive and pick us up if the SUV went down again! Talk about going above and beyond! We could not be more grateful for his help and assistance. Thank you Ben!

The FL is a family owned business with a lot of heart and good people.
We will definitely be back but next time without the car repair!

The Fireside Lodge is located just a mile or so south of Camp Richardson on the west shore of Lake Tahoe...perfect place to experience Fallen Leaf Lake, Emerald Bay, Eagle Falls, Mt. Tallac and much more. Dining options are very close...but the real joy of the place is it's quaint, clean, updated rooms, the free breakfast, and outside area with a gazebo, tables and chairs and a fire pit to make complimentary somemores in the evening. Bicycles are available for free and the Fireside is located very near the bike path. Complimentary wine and snacks are also provided. Each room is unique and decorated with a mountain theme...and very clean! The hosts, Steve and Tracy, Nick and Tamara and the whole crew are REALLY nice and very helpful. It's a great place to stay at a reasonable price.

We stayed two night in the Pioneer Room. For breakfast the lodge had two dining rooms, an outdoor eating area, or you could eat in your room. The owners served guests and were mindful of protocals for covid safety. For relaxation, there was a game room, relaxation area with sauna, an ourdoor firepit and picnic tables for enjoying moderate October weather. The property was about fifty feet from the exensive bike path that reaches into town or out beyond Camp Richardson. They had a rack full of free bicycles for gueast use. Hosts were wecloming and informative. Rooms were comfortable, well kept and had a kitchen nook.

The fireside lodge is a super cute and very friendly property. The rooms are laid out with outdoor entrances, motel style, with cars parked i front of each unit. The office building has a quaint kitchen area, game room, bar to make your own cocktails, and an outdoor fire pit. There is an afternoon happy hour with cheese and crackers, marshmallows and chocolate, and a generous breakfast included in the very reasonable rates. The innkeepers were super friendly and gave us a quick tour when we checked in. They also accommodated our early morning breakfast outside of our their regular hours.
Our room was small but well divided with a queen bed, small bathroom and a kitchenette area with a small table, mini fridge, microwave, toaster, plates and silverware. There are several restaurants close by.
The only reason we’re not giving this 5 stars is the mattress, which was way too soft and broken down. It made for an uncomfortable night of sleep, unfortunately. Besides the mattress problem (easily fixable with a newer one!), this place is a little gem and a great alternative to the mostly overpriced and uninspiring properties in South Lake.

I stayed in the Bear's Den for 2 lovely nights the last week of May before Memorial Day. It was perfect in EVERY way. Steve, Tracy, Olivia and Nick are OUTSTANDING hosts. All the inclusions made the price point very, very affordable if you take advantage of all they offer. The bikes were great as you can bike to the popular beaches and not fight the traffic! Wine and cheese for 2 hours in the evening and a huge firepit with all the fixings for smores. The game room was great, free DVD's for your room and even board games to pay and a sauna after a long day of hiking. Peaceful and HOMEY is how I would describe it. You felt like you were visiting family and not staying in a hotel. Tracy will show you around to all the features and Steve is there is do the "manly" things, like replace light bulbs and turn on the fireplace, that he's trying to conserve electric and gas bills on, but will gladly turn it on if asked. Breakfast served by Olivia was wonderful as they pretty much don't say no to anything if they have it! I will be back and will send clients your way! I am a travel professional and this is truly one of my best finds ever and that is saying something as I have been doing this for 25 years.

We stayed here 3 nights August 2020 based on a recommendation from our daughter.

Upside: Clean. Rustic decor. Kitchenettes in rooms. Lodge area offered many amenities including breakfast, wine and cheese hour, evening s'mores around the fire pit, game room. bikes, infra-red sauna, self-serve bar (for a fee) and more. Very friendly hosts who go out of their way to make guests feel welcomed. Close to national forest and bike trail.

Downside: Very pet friendly with dogs allowed everywhere on the property, so if you have allergies, particularly to dogs, be aware that they have no "dog-free" rooms (even though the rooms are thoroughly cleaned, dogs get on beds, etc)...Being on the road to Emerald Bay, traffic starts early and ends late. No air conditioning in rooms (not needed) but nice ceiling fan, so if car noise bothers you, close the noise reducing windows and use the fan. Obviously not an issue for winter guests...A bit pricey but....

Yes, we would stay here again. Yes, we were very pleased with our room, many amenities, and friendly staff and guests.

To start, the folks who run it are incredibly welcoming and friendly. They made us and our pups feel right at home immediately, and gave us lots of recommendations for places to go and see/do. The rooms are so cute, cozy, and clean, the amenities are awesome, and they’re probably the most dog friendly place we have ever stayed. We usually find an AirBnB, but honestly this will be my first choice next trip. They have wine and cheese happy hour every evening, basically a full bar, movies, arcade games, s’mores every night around the fire, great breakfast menu.. and probably many more things I’m forgetting right now. It backs up to the forest for an easy jump onto some trails in a great location. Good people, cozy, and clean. Our kind of place.

What a lovely and charming lodge, with such friendly and accommodating owners ! Great happy hour and breakfast too. They welcomed our friends who stayed at another location to join us for our takeout dinner on the patio as well. We could not have been happier and will be back ! Stew & Paula

The small charming rooms of this lovingly updated motel are cozy and comfortable with a fireplace plus they have a small kitchenette and dining table. There’s a wonderful patio area to relax in plus a fire pit to roast marshmallows for s’mores (all components supplied) and cute bikes to ride on the nearby bike path! They just pile on the extras with a homemade breakfast and wine, cheese and crackers in the afternoon. Super dog friendly and amazing hospitality. Wonderful location.

Cozy room with gas stone fireplace, separate, convenient kitchenette with table and built-in bench seating and bathroom. L-shaped, 10 room, vintage motel perpendicular to the highway and directly adjacent to the national forest. The good news is your car is parked immediately outside your room door, the bad news is the exterior walkway is right outside your door and window as well as everyone else's car. A lively conversation between other guests in early morning woke us & other guests loading up their car. Check out is 10 AM, instead of your typical 11 AM. The bed was good, appreciated the kitchenette, and room was cute, although a bit cluttered for unpacking your things as there's no closet, and every shelf covered with decorative items. Minimal toiletries. (Only liquid soaps, no face bar soap, or shower cap). Breakfast was self-serve waffle maker, packaged cereal, bagels, pastries, granola, yoplait, hard boiled eggs, juices. There's an outdoor seating area at the back of the property with chairs and smores for evening treat. The road noise was present but our room was not adjacent to the street so was tolerable for sleeping with the window closed.
