Detailed Reviews
Well, it is a motel, so let’s start with that. It’s not fancy, but it is clean, small, and centrally located. We booked through Hotwire during a last minute attempt to get a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded upon arrival to a King rather than a Queen for no extra charge. The owner was very accommodating and even allowed us to have a late checkout for no extra charge. Beyond that, we were thrilled with how exceptionally comfortable the bed is. Feels like memory foam. Great stay.

Thank you Mae for a fantastic stay. With so much choice of places to stay we were glad to have chosen your motel. Rooms clean big enough, fridge was a welcoming addition. Bed extremely comfortable. You were a fabulous hostess and I am glad to have known you. Thank you again. Diego De la Ruelle

We learned that this motel is owned and run by a young couple who took a rather average property and put some love and care into it. They are very friendly and accommodating. The interiors are clean and nicely decorated and the beds are pillow-topped mattresses that were a welcome relief to our travel weary backs. Every night we received chocolates and Perrier.
The location was good. We were within easy walking distance to South Lake Tahoe shopping and dining as well as the lake. Speaking of the lake, we got a free pass to the beach park just down the street.
The price was very reasonable for the area. The Paradice Motel exceeded our expectations.

Upon arrival after reservation she did not make it clear that she booked us a Queen Sized bed instead of a King and would not let us refund. Instead of cooperating and making the whole process easier, instead she decides to raise her voice and try to impose a dominance over her own customers. She is Chinese by the way.

I can't say much about the hotel as they tried to scam me before I even stayed there. I booked this motel through Expedia who had a rate advertised (the same rate was also advertised on hotel.com and other booking sites), within 10 min of booking I got a message from the hotel asking me to call them as they wanted to increase the rate by 4x. They falsely told expedia there was a problem with my payment - when I called the hotel they told me they never even tried to charge my card just that the rate was wrong. Misleading advertising and expedia of course did nothing about it as they just claimed that the hotel told them my payment didn't work.

+1
This motel is dirty, old, and unsafe. the Ikea book case isn't attached to the wall for safety. Bookings.com reviews could not be of this place, it was disgusting. The manger rude as h..l, office cleanliness matches the rooms she peddles.
Heat didn't work for Tahoe cold nights, the room door was an inch too short and let a lot of cold in.
Manager tried to convince us that the room was better than the one we reserved and proceeded to show how much better room 32 was to another, she was mistaken, it was worse.
Don't know how anyone can get a room at this gross place.
See the pictures.

absolute garbage.
my girl and i are going to a concert in south lake on august 17.
booked my reservation in feb.
called to confirm it july 17, and we went over the date and the price...all was fine. $88 plus tax.
got an email on sunday the 12th, stating that the price was wrong, and it would now be $229 plus tax.
i thought, surely there must be a mistake.
just got off of the phone with the motel.
first, she tried to say that i sent an email to cancel the reservation.
then when i gave her the reservation number, she tried saying that booking.com was broken.
then, when i remided her that i had called in july to confirm, she simply stated that nothing in tahoe is that cheap, and she cannot honor the price.
so, here i am 4 days before the concert, with a cancelled hotel reservation, a hotel manager telling me that she simply cannot honor the price that was booked AND confirmed by her over the phone, and most places in south tahoe sold out.
read the other negative reviews. these people do not know how to conduct proper business, and really don't give a toss about their customers.
i think that 1 star is too many..i wish there was an option for zero stars.

awsome location, BUT the only complaint i have is the room was hot and the ac is not big enough to cool quickly, every time i left the room the manager went in and turned off the ac she told use that becouse we used groupon and got a discount that we could not leave the ac on becouse of her power bill. first of all not sure if it is ok to enter room every time you leave , second, i paid for ac , it would have been fine if the unit was big eonough to cool quickly . the town was full of smoke from all the fires so i couldent leave the windows open, well im never staying there again nor would i recomend it to any on>>> NO PRIVICY was very shocked the she did what she did!!!!!!

Very dirty room, no maid service during multiple night stay, lack of amenities and even basic things you'd find in a decent hotel room. Never again. Makes me think some of the previous reviews are horse manure.
So, I came to the Paradice many times in the past between 2011-2014 and it was glorious. Sadly, the ownership changed hands a year ago or so, and I had no clue. Well, it was obvious when I entered the motel room. All of the amenities were gone. No phone, radio, glasses, or even extra pillows or blankets. It was extremely dirty in the room and bathroom, and during my 2 night stay, nobody ever showed up to change towels/sheets/trash etc. It was terrible. The new owners have changed what was a really amazing gem in South Lake to just another grungy motel. The only reason it isn't getting 1 star is the desk staff member tried her best to be helpful.

Completely awful! Be careful when making a reservation here!!!! I am not the only one who they have done this too, read the reviews!!!!!!
Not only did I book in advance at a price I could pay. They notified me 4 days before my cousins wedding that "they gave me the wrong price". I booked it at $88. They wanted $229. So they did not honor their prices and I contacted booking.com about it. They also said they're suppose to notify them when they do this and they didn't either. So I had to find a hotel for my cousins wedding and it was so hard everything was booked. They really put us in a bind because they wanted $229 instead of respecting the fact I booked months ago at the price they asked for which was $88.

I think they have certain rooms they are allowed to stay in.....
Hello, the handicap room has one queen bed inside. We have double queen rooms to offer but they are not disability access rooms.
