Fun place to stay in South Lake Tahoe! We stayed in a King Balcony room, 225 on the 2nd floor overlooking the parking lot and lobby deck. The room was very spacious and had all the necessary amenities. Loved the scents of the shower products. Very much enjoyed sitting on our balcony. The brewery area of the property is super fun. Loved that they had live music and a fire pit, cornhole, delicious food and tasty beer options. Parking is convenient too. Walking distance to a really nice private beach. Would absolutely stay here again!

In a section of town full of dilapidated old motels the ownership did a good job in providing an excellent vibe and good value. Room was well refurbished even if maintaining the basic layout of old. The bedding and the service good, the free breakfast basic but good. The room heating was quite noisy, but acceptable

We came here during a bachelor and bachelorette party weekend. This location was picked by the bride and groom so we didn’t know much about the location until we arrived. We also hadn’t been to Tahoe before so we are glad we had this first experience here. We arrived earlier than check in and expected to just drop our bags off and wait but they actually had our room ready and let us check in early. Upon arrival they gave us a pamphlet with a map of the property which was a nice touch since they offer several amenities on site. They also included other useful information such as local restaurants, beaches, and information on wildlife. They also offered a free voucher to cover our entry to a local beach which was a nice added touch. Considering it has the attached brewery and is a short walk from local bars, casinos, and restaurants it is a great place to come as a group and take in all of Tahoe. We only got to stay a night but we hope to come back again for a longer stay!

We were extremely disappointed with the state of the room after we checked in and ended up leaving for our money back to go to another hotel. There were lots of items broken/not working (fan, shower door, lights, bathroom faucet, etc.) in the room. In addition, the door to the room had a huge gap from the lack of weatherstripping and the room was very warm from the lack of air conditioning and fans being out of service. My boyfriend had also noticed that there was hair on the blankets on the bed. Another thing we had noticed in the short period we were there was that drunk persons from the little bar outside were right outside the back of our room at a table hooting and hollering and knocking on our walls. Not a great hotel if you are the type that wants to sleep at a decent hour either because they have live music at night right outside of the rooms. However, first glance of the room, it is very cute and appears to be nice, but is not. Parking is horrible too, but I imagine that’s hard to fix. Overall, would not stay again.

I enjoyed my stay. Good value for the price. Our room was clean and pleasant enough. My only issue was it was either too hot or too cold with the way the heater was set up. The shower was also really tiny so tall/big people be advised. I would return.

The photos online looked super cute, nice and clean, but different! Well, it was different all right! One of the dirtiest properties we’ve ever stayed at in our travels! Trash littered the stairs and parking lot. The hallways smelled like pee, as did one of the beds. Bunk beds were dusty. Room smelled like wet dog when we checked in, but I think we got used to it. All the ice machines were unavailable during fall/winter, but it’s June? No AC and the ceiling fan made this hideous noise, so we couldn’t sleep with it on at night. Way overpriced at $2/00/night. If I’d wanted to go camping, we would’ve brought our own tent and could’ve saved $160! I thought we’d paid for a nice hotel room. Sadly disappointed! Don’t recommend! Would not waste my money at another Base camp! The only cool thing about it was the coffee. Comes in its own little filter package. Super cute, but that doesn’t make up for all that was wrong with this place!

Ok so the pictures I saw online suckered me I'm into booking this hotel. And it wasn't cheap to stay here either. Book this spot if you plan on taking out ur own trash and leaving it outside ur room to get picked up. No one cleans your room till you check out. Need towels get them at the front desk. That's a joke. I was trying to relax being in Lake Tahoe but this dump made our stay a disaster . It was More like motel. It was tiny, the bathroom they don't refill the shampoos and conditioners and the shower curtain looks like they need to replace it is supposed to be white and at the bottom was reddish like rust . Then going to the room no telephone or controller for the tv. There was papers stating press 0 to call the from desk with what my phone!!! So if we had an issue we had to walk over all the time to the front desk . The control replacement was a joke only the channel button works we had to walk over to turn up or down the volume and turn on or off the tv. Fridge sucks don't bring food unless you plan on tossing because it will go bad. Wow don't stay keep scrolling for a different hotel. This place needs a massive upgrade. Trust me don't make the same mistake like we did staying here.

I use to stay here before they opened the beer garden, rooms were $100 a night and they served fresh baked goods for free. Service was a lot better back then as well. Now it’s overrated and the rooms are old, carpet is dirty/stained, no AC, they only have standing fans, the furniture is worn out, the shower water pressure is horrible, we also had a big roach in the room and the parking is a nightmare.
There’s tons of people who hang out at the beer garden that don’t stay the night there, so you have tons of people roaming around freely, in the pool , hot tub, taking up the ping pong table, corn hole games as well as the fire pits and don’t pay for a room. The music is just ok.
You’re better off staying at Harvey’s for way cheaper and just walking over to hang out at the beer garden if you really wanted to, no one is checking if you are staying there and people bring alcohol in from outside to drink. Food is decent, nothing worth getting seconds on. I won’t be coming back. I spent almost $2k for 3 rooms / 2 nights and mediocre rooms. See pics of stained carpet, this was throughout all the rooms, furniture was worn in all 3 rooms, the big family room with the bunk beds are dangerous for kids. Mine kept hitting their heads on the metal railing and the ceiling fan is to low, if not careful the kids can get hit by it, the balcony room had a tarp that anyone can cross or look over. Take your chances.

Just had a 2 night stay at Basecamp South Lake Tahoe. Parking is free but it can sometimes take a while to find an available space. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and nice balcony area and the cleanliness of the room was to a good standard. The hotel itself is quite sociable as they have live music/games in the outdoor communal area. The location is great, right on the stateline so in the evenings you can enjoy the nightlife that Nevada has to offer. There is also a cafe onsite which we had breakfast at both mornings, the food was really good and we found the staff really personable and helpful however we found the man who checked us in didn’t give us the warmest of welcomes. There are two hot tubs and we went in the upstairs one which was lovely. Unfortunately we had a really bad nights sleep on our first night as the guests staying above us were making so much noise and having a loud argument. The floorboards are so creaky at this hotel and walls really thin so there is no guaranteed good nights sleep. I would suggest requesting a room on the top floor to avoid this. We requested a room change but this was not accommodated however the hotel manager kindly refunded us half our first night stay total to compensate for the issue. Overall it is a nice hotel but we probably wouldn’t rush back.

I stayed here the night before the Lakeside Marathon. It was close to the start line. My room was so cute with a Lake Tahoe map tapestry over the bed and a lantern on the desk. I slept SO WELL the night before my race. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. I had delicious pour over coffee when I woke up before my race. The refrigerator was perfect for all the race food I brought. Individual half and halfs in the fridge instead of powdered creamer would've made me happier to not ruin the delicious pour over, but I had some oatmilk with me.

Marshall, at check in, was so nice and was so interested in my race the next day. I even got a late checkout and was able to take a much needed shower after running 26 miles and before my drive home. The water pressure was fantastic and I loved the shower gel in the shower.

After checkout, I had an iced latte and an avocado toast before my ride home, both were fantastic. The personal touch and accommodating my request for a late check out is why I will stay there every time over a casino. I am so glad I decided to stay at Basecamp the night before my race instead of driving over an hour from Reno and rushing to the start line.

There are balconies on the 2nd level of many of the rooms. There is s large open area that has Adirondack chairs, picnic tables and games but it is not private. It’s a lovely kitschy hotel that is family oriented. Close to the heavenly mountain and walking distance to casinos and restaurants. Hope you love it ! We do.

This is a great question and many good points covered by replies. We just finished a group reunion with the same demographics you have mentioned and the group had a wonderful time, as a matter of fact they are making reservations for next year to come back. Depending on the season that the activities take place is an important factor. In any case here at Basecamp we welcome everyone who really wants to explore and connect with Lake Tahoe.
