Nestled in the heart of South Lake Tahoe, the Hilton Vacation Club Lake Tahoe Resort has garnered an array of opinions. While the resort's location is frequently celebrated for its convenience, guests have voiced concerns regarding the value, citing steep resort fees and parking charges. Service quality appears to be inconsistent, with some guests commending the staff's friendliness, yet others encountering challenges during check-in and with room service.
Room experiences are mixed, with reports of both renovated spaces and those that may not meet cleanliness standards or aesthetic expectations. Amenities like pools and dining are appreciated, but the atmosphere and certain services like valet parking have not impressed everyone.

Detailed Reviews
The resort is located right on the lake. Our unit and my daughter's unit (both one bedroom units with full kitchen) appear very clean and have all that you need if you plan on fixing your own meals. (I always travel with my bag of spices and coffee, although, the coffee that is provided here is very good). The staff here is awesome and very helpful.
The only real downside to the resort is the amount of "encouragement" (financial enticements) for visitors to attend a not so short presentation to join the Diamond Resort "family" Our experience is that what you are told is not necessarily the way it all actually works. I wish we had just said no the first time and not believed the stretched truths we were told.

This resort is away from the main area so it is quieter and darker and more peaceful than being on the main drag; also right on the lake. That being said we had a view of the parking lot, are units were small in size and very outdated. They charged a $24.95 daily resort fee even though you rarely could find parking in the main lot, took days for trash to be taken out of hallway, no cleaning services and only one towel change. They would not come in the u it’s once checked in so we did not get any services for our “service fee”. Which we had $175 x 3 units = $525 for a week of off site parking and no cleaning.
Nice resort for families as they seem to cater to that and the units look like plenty of families have used them. Pricey resort for average amenities and services.

As a Centum member at a Diamond resort I expect to be placed in better room than a second floor location overlooking a maintenance/service area. It was obvious that weekend renters were placed in better locations over Diamond members. At my check-in at around midnight I was told nothing else was available by the two clerks,

Good afternoon 7789fredericw, I was very disappointed to hear that one of our Centum Guests was placed in a lower floor room with a poor view. This should not have occurred and if you email directly at Julius.kazen@HGV.com, I will be glad to investigate what occurred. Centrally locate with beautiful, comfortable rooms. Easy to hit the slopes or cruse the lake. Property is spacious with beautiful views. The staff was very accommodating and the property has its own restaurant and bar as well as an indoor out door pool.

The initial studio was adequate. Due to maintenance issues they upgraded us to a one bedroom which was much better quality as well as bigger, but also had issues with electricity and the toilet. Maintenance dumped toilet water in the bathroom sink and no one was sent to disinfect it for us because of CoVid restrictions. We did request this repeatedly. We ended up cleaning it with dish soap and not using that sink. We were given a taped up electrical cord to use for the whole week's stay as there were no working outlets in the bedroom. A repair was promised, but not provided. Finally, I sat through a sales presentation which ground on and three or four different men tried to push me to buy a membership, even knowing what the problems had been. They did nothing to have the issues resolved either. Lastly, the "resort cash" they provided was supposedly applied to the account, however the resort fees are still on my credit card. The resort is more focused on pushing people into buying their memberships than providing a great vacation. I would not return.

This hotel was terrible from the moment we arrived. Our room wasn’t ready and after a long car ride we couldn’t check in until after 5! A man at the side desk started trying to sell us a time share, very pushy worse than a car’s sells man! We weren’t even allowed to park on site we had to drive 2 blocks away to park our car in an unsecured location. The lady assured me there was a gate and it was 2 story but there is just a bar and the second story is connected to a street that any person off the street could just walk through! (See attached picture) When we finally got in our room the carpets were soaking wet and the room was very musty! The next day we learned no one comes to clean or service the room. He gave me Covid excuses that the rooms could not be serviced, but I’ve stayed at many hotels and even places that don’t come in to clean still came by to see if anything was needed. Like trash? Towels? Toilet paper? Coffee? Shampoo? We stayed 3 nights with a family of 4 and of course we would need more than 1 nights worth of these things. We had to constantly call the front desk for bath towels & pool towels (they don’t even keep pool towels by the pool)! Every time we would call and request something towels, toilet paper, coffee it took over 2 hours to receive! The absolute worse customer service. Save your family vacation and Do Not Stay Here!

This place was perfect. In the middle of Lake Tahoe, a minute away from the downtown/casino district and on the other side is the local escape of the city.
From the bell guys to valet, it’s all included in your stay. They are fast and friendly, so tip kindly!!
My family of five loved it here. Last minute booking left us with a studio deluxe with two queen beds with ample space for our two daughters to run around and lounge on their comfy bed with room to spare! Our son is 6 months so the small kitchen was a perfect attribute to the studio, mini fridge, microwave, stove, and drawers. They provide you with kitchen pot, pan, utensils, cups, and plates. The bathroom was huge as well. Bathtub/shower, very decent size of bathroom for being just a studio!
We loved the recreations of the hotel. My kids got to go to the activity room which is open 830am, forgot what time it closed! My kids loved the two ladies in the activity room, they spent a good two hours in there, painting and playing as they watched a movie. They also supply snacks!! Swimming pool is indoor and outdoor with a jacuzzi and sauna room open til 10pm for kids and 11pm for adults.
Loved how the bar was opened late, you can pick up a bottle for the room if not just a drink or two. As well as the mini store, it had anything you needed. If it were closed, they’d have security open it up for you and you can grab whatever you need, just charge it to the room!
Every staff we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. 10/10 recommend if you’re a family and need a cozy place to stay with no fus or frills.
Also next door is a cute little mall that’s connected to a small beach area. Perfect place to stay for a mini trip!

Really enjoyed this resort to spend 4 nights with my boyfriend for my birthday week, the one bedroom was great, full kitchen with fridge with all the amenities. I was very grateful for all the little things the room provided, the laundry detergent, the pots, silverware, xtra trash bags, the fire place . The staff was very friendly too. Such a great deal for so much space. Will most definitely come back!

I went a week ago with my husband, son and daughter-in-law, reserving 2 rooms. Even for studio rooms, they are ample space and with a fully equipped kitchenette. This was important because we would only have take out food due to COVID. We could eat at the bar table in the room. I loved that there was a lot of closet space and plenty of hangers which I think is very thoughtful as most hotels are very stingy with hangers. Towels and pillows were in plentiful supply as there would not be daily housekeeping, which is appropriate to reduce exposure to COVID. My son had to change rooms in the middle of the night because his next door neighbor was smoking in the non smoking room but it was done quicky and painlessly. The management kindly took off our resort fee for the inconvenience. We were very comfortable and happy. Parking was close by and in gated area. The only slight down was that we could not get more coffee supplies after the first day ran out and could not get hold of housekeeping for that. Otherwise, it was home away from home! WIll definitely return!

I was very excited when I saw that Hilton had bought this property and I was going to be able to use my Hilton Honors membership on this vacation. I was very disappointed by some of the things in the hotel, considered I’ve stayed at Hilton Grand Vacation properties in the past. First, after driving nine hours to the hotel from Vegas, I was told that I couldn’t park on site (I’m a Silver member), and I had to walk across the street and park in a garage, which is difficult to do with 2 small children (5 & 10 months old) for day-to-day activities with the car. Inside the hotel, it is a labyrinth, but they do give you a map. The room itself that we were given (132B, a 2 Queen suite with kitchenette) was very underwhelming considering the cost of three nights was almost $1000 after taxes and fees I understand the Hilton says they’re going to renovate the property, but they need to do it to justify a nightly resort fee and the room rate. Upon arriving at my door, it wasn’t even fully shut, which scared my wife with the kids at night. The door didn’t shut behind us as it closed, so it had to be slammed or pulled shut every time it was opened. Most of the furniture much older than the photos on Hilton’s website indicate. Also, the pillows on the bed were square-shaped, not even full standard pillows. The shower worked well, and the kitchen was very helpful for us with our need to clean baby bottles. The closet was very small and we couldn’t fit suitcases inside the closet, making the room cluttered and very difficult to move around. The things about the hotel I liked were the pool for my kids, the friendly bellhops outside, and the access to the Marina for 4th of July fireworks. I would stay somewhere else until Hilton fixed this place up because it was overpriced for someone not in their timeshare/ownership HGV program.

Good afternoon Talkie518, Thank you for taking the time to share a review of our resort on Trip Advisor. My apologies for the delayed response. I know the offsite parking is not convenient, but we do provide shuttle service back and forth from the parking to the resort. We also do not charge for parking onsite or offsite and most of the larger resort in Tahoe do charge. As you mentioned renovation of our guest rooms is coming very soon. On the resort fee we offer many services. We have fire pits, we have barbeques and provide tools, we have an activities program and of course full Wifi at no charge. I was very disappointed to hear about the issue with your guest room door. I will certainly make certain that issue is addressed. Thank you very much for your kind words about our pool, our location and especially about our friendly bell team. We are very proud of the outstanding service they provide and do hear many good comments. Please accept my sincere apologies for the problems you experienced and we do hope for a future opportunity to serve you. Warmest Regards,

No, no snow play at resort. You can drive or shuttle to nearby area for snow play. Of course, you can throw a snowball anywhere!
Sorry for the delay in response but the beach is about a three minute walk from our main entrance.
Good afternoon Tyler,
Our pool is an indoor outdoor combo. We keep both sections open unless their is snow or ice, but even then the indoor pool and seating areas are open.
We have onsite and offsite parking and if occupancy is high our onsite is reserved for our members and owners. The offsite is a block and a half away, and we do provide shuttle service back and forth.
Hi there, our front desk team would be happy to help you with recommendations! Please don't hesitate to call them at 1.530.541.6122. -GP
