The hotel's cleanliness receives high marks, with well-maintained rooms and common areas frequently mentioned in reviews. The Stardust team did an excellent job during the challenging COVID 19. Only 1 person allowed in the office to check in and temperatures are checked of everyone in the car. We stayed for 2 weeks and we noticed how careful the cleaning team was when they cleaned vacant rooms. We declined all service since we didn't need anything cleaned. We saw how the rugs were taken out of other rooms and cleaned in the fresh air as rooms were cleaned.

Breakfast is still served but there is a Stardust employee providing the food to us behind a plastic shield. In previous years there were activities for guests but some had to be stopped due to COVID19. The Stardust still hosted a BBQ meal twice during the week for $7 per guest. The hot tubs were closed due to State of CA guidelines but both pools were open when we visited. The front pool was heated and warm but getting out something was tough with the cool air.

Thank you to Kenny, Property Manager, Victor and Wendy for making our stay pleasant. Always a great time when we visit from TX to Stardust. The rooms were large enough for 2 adults. We like having a refrigerator so we can make lunches for hiking days. Microwave and 2 burner stove top was perfect for our stay since cooking meals wasn't on my agenda. Being able to make hot tea in the morning with the complimentary breakfast was great. The bed was comfortable and all the linens smelled fresh.

The Stardust is walking distance to the casinos, restaurants, stores, grocery store and the lake. There are many hiking trails close to the Stardust and some trails that are 10-30 minutes away. So many out door activities to partake in. Plus night time activities with Casinos or movies.

This was a well needed trip to Getaway! We are always Impressed by the Customer Service at the Star Dust. Always Polite, Friendly and Caters to your needs. The Manager Kenny & his Staff weared they're Mask and they only aloud 1 person in at a time in the Lobby. It was Relaxing, Clean, Quite & Fun, We Barbecued Daily and Enjoyed the Pool on most of the days we were there also meet some very nice people during our Stay. Our Room was very Comfortable, It was a 1 Bedroom with a Kitchen that we were able to prepare Meals throughout the day. We were also able to call for Take out to be Delivered which was Great. The Star Dust is in Ideal Location, Everything you need is within walking distance, Casino's, Shopping, Restaurants & the Lake. We all had an Amazing time and can't wait to go back. We were so Happy with the time we spent there my Husband & I have decided to buy in for a Time Share.

The Stardust is located close to restaurants on the CA and NV side, all walking distance. There is even a grocery store that can be walked to as long as you don't pick up too many bags to carry back. We stayed for 2 weeks and our 1 bedroom unit was perfect for 1 adults. The first week was warm Tahoe weather and the windows and indoor fans provided sufficient cooling. The second week, the weather was cooler and no fans were needed.

Our 1 bedroom had a 2 burner stove top, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator and dishes/silverware for 4 people. We bought groceries so we could make sandwiches to take on our day hikes. The breakfast was generous and we were pleased with the selection: donuts, toast, peanut butter, waffles w/syrup, apple juice, oatmeal, coffee, tea, hard boiled eggs, some fruit. I would pick up breakfast items and eat in the room with my husband before hiking.

The Stardust is close to a beach, a short walk from the unit and if you buy passes from the front desk a huge savings over the passes at the beach gate. Parking is included at Stardust. Stardust has 2 floors and no elevators. The pools were open and enjoyable when the sun was shining. Pool towels are picked up at the front office.

COVID rules were in place while we visited and CA was changing some of the rules June 15th. We saw housekeeping and maintenance cleaning rugs, changing bedspreads and blankets. Many hotels don't take the time to clean as well as the Stardust team did. We enjoyed our visit and appreciated the assistance that Kenny (Resort Manager) provided, plus Victor was super friendly, Wendy and Elizabeth were so kind to us. Stardust also provides an option for a $7.00 BBQ meal once per week:hamburger, hot dogs, chips, drink. We will be returning.

We finally were able to get away after months of lockdown. We arrived at Stardust Lodge to a warm getting from staff. Following all guidelines they checked our temperatures and check in was a breeze. The room was waiting for us and very clean. There was a multiple day snow storm but the staff was very busy to make sure the paring lot and sidewalk were clear and safe for all guests. The staff and manager of this facility are exceptional and go out of their way to make sure the guests are taken care of. The breakfast area was staffed and they served what ever you decided to have to avoid from guests handling and food. We have stayed here on several occasions. The location is awesome, accessible to the gondola, restaurants, groceries, casinos, etc, no need to drive once you park your car. Another great stay at the Stardust Lodge.

I visited South Lake Tahoe to ski with a group of friends January 15, 2020. My stay at the Startdust Resort was awesome as usual. Everything was clean and the decor was pleasing. I was in a one bedroom unit on the second level (214). The unit was like a mini condo; included flat screen tv in living room and bedroom, refrigerator, 2 burner cooktop (no oven) microwave and dishwasher.
I really enjoyed the common breakfast room every morning. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I will stay here everytime I’m in South Lake Tahoe. Oh, the location was the best. Less than 100 yds from the Gondola.

This is the fifth time we have visited the property in the last year! Been a timeshare owner for over a decade but this past summer was the first time we didn't trade it away with RCI, and I am amazed we overlooked this gem for so long. The rooms are very small but clean, tastefully decorated, and quaint, plus it only adds to an intimate feel. At each visit the staff has always been friendly and helpful and not at all intrusive. The pool is 86 degrees, so it's enjoyable to use at any time of year (as we have now been here each season). We love the location as we can walk to a casino or down to the lake or shopping and restaurants or even hiking and sledding within minutes. We aren't skiers but I imagine it is a great place for that as well. It feels like home away from home, and though there is no oven, it does have all the amenities we need and even a free breakfast! We love this place and will continue to come back frequently over this next year.

We went up to Tahoe for Super Bowl weekend and a ski trip and stayed at the Stardust. We always love to stay at the Stardust. All of he staff and Manger Kenny are top notch and very always accommodating. The location is the best, we love the fact that once we arrive we never have to drive around in the snow again until our departure. The Gondola is directly across the street along with ski/board rentals if needed, many restaurants, movies, ice skating, live music, shops, etc. The casinos are only one block away as well. The rooms are always very clean and include a small kitchen if you do not want to eat out. Two hot tubs to take a soak after a hard day along with a heated pool. Daily activities, continental breakfast, taco Tuesdays, crafts, exercise equipment are among a few of the things beneficial to the stay. We had a blast with the only disappointment being my 49ers lost the Super Bowl....well next year!

My family and I have been staying at the Stardust Lodge for five years. During this time we have felt so welcomed and have enjoyed the hospitality and amenities at this wonderful vacation spot. During the summers we get free access to a beautiful location on the lake including live music and a family friendly environment. During the winter we are in walking distance to Heavenly Village which has shops, restaurants, and accessibility to the gondola which takes us to the top of Mount Tallac Village where we can play and snowboard and grab a warm or adult beverage at the restaurant.
The Stardust has community events almost everyday. My family and I have enjoyed arts and craft opportunities, wine taste testing and trivia night. We enjoy the free bike rentals, snow shoes, and always take advantage of the heated pools year round. The rooms are warm and cozy with beautiful art work, large flat screen TVs with cable and free wifi. The beds are great and I sleep better here than I do at my own home.
During the pandemic, Kenny and his staff have made us feel safe when we visit. They make sure to do temperature checks, where masks, and thoroughly clean the rooms.
If you are looking for a great place to vacation in South Lake Tahoe book a reservation at the Stardust Lodge. It is a clean, warm and affordable experience surrounded by great shops, restaurants and entertainment.

It is “OK”. That’s it in a nutshell. All the reviews are pretty accurate except for anyone who makes this place seem better than average. We exchanged through Interval for a one bedroom kitchen unit in July. I chose this location because it was the only one I could find that was dog friendly for which I am very grateful. Pros: location, clean, excellent wifi, dog friendly, laundry, nice in-unit kitchen, walking distance to a beach, free parking, grills, guests are friendly, quiet and respectable. Cons: dated, no or little AC, all cement grounds, cramped accommodations, beach is about a half mile away and it cost $5/person/day, poor fitness room. As most reviews state, you are a short walking distance to most things. Laundry is free (bring your own soap) and by appointment. They have a small grassy area for dogs and a station. The kitchen has all the items you need. This is an old, renovated two story motel where your door either opens to a parking lot or outdoor walkway; which is typical of most accommodations in this area. So you always have parking lot noise and people walking by. The maintenance truck/snow plow and garbage collection was immediately outside our door. There is no parklike or grassy settings or fire pits to sit and relax or eat. There are a couple small pools and a couple nice hot tubs. Our unit had AC in the bed room only. It was nice to have two ceiling fans and two tall floor fans (which we ran constantly), a screened window and a hanging screen doorway which we always kept open. Fortunately our high temps stayed in the low 80s so all this was bearable. Rooms are small; bedroom fits the bed only and it seemed to be a full and not a queen size, bathroom has no counter space, pullout/sitting area is combined with the kitchen and measures about 12 X 12 feet in total. lots of drawer space, no closet but a half height hanging cabinet. Half the cable stations did not work, even after maintenance, but we did not watch much TV. I would return if I wanted to come back with my dog.

Recently, I’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Stardust Lodge on two different trips to Tahoe. I love how retro the Stardust is on the outside and how modern, convenient, and comfortable it is on the inside. The studio I stayed in has everything one needs to feel at home including a well-equipped kitchen and a roomy double shower with eye-catching bear decor. The staff are friendly without exception and are conscientious about taking all necessary Covid precautions. Of course, best of all is the location—directly across the street from the Heavenly gondola! My room was equipped with a ski rack right by the door. I also appreciated having the 86 degree swimming pool open before and after a day of skiing. The office provided lovely fluffy, large swim towels.

"Passes" are no longer free but Stardust vacationers pay only $5 per person, rather than the $25 per person at the gate.

You can arrive anytime as long as you have a reservation. There is a lock box and a phone. Pickup the phone outside the office if you’re late and they give you the combination to the lock box where your keys are located.

Do rooms have air conditioning?
Answer from Gerilou
Manteca, California4 contributions8 helpful votes
Very very very few rooms do. You could request one when booking, I don’t know if they can guarantee that you get one of those rooms. Most the time, it is not needed, but there are some hot days in the summer that can make it very uncomfortable. Some rooms have windows on the front and rear and the cross breeze can be helpful on hotter days. Hot for tahoe, that is. They usually have a good supply of fans on hand and you can request additional if needed. All in all, I absolutely love this place and have been going for over 20 years. AC is the only complaint that comes up and only when it’s unusually hot.
