To my my mind this is the best holiday resort in the Drakensberg, been going there for 15 years, love it, great golf course, fantastic walks, good restaurants, fantastic accommodation and well trained staff
The units are located inn a most breathtaking setting but the journey to and back is Horrendous. Huge potholes make driving absolutely dangerous especially if one is travelling when vision is not clear owing to fog/mist...No body should venture to this resort in a sedan.very laid back reception by the team...officious.The cottage is clean. The only modern aspect is the table setting Otherwise the unit has certainly seen better days.bathroom is ancient.poorly ventilated. Kitchen utensils are very old.weekend stay....no cleaning on Sundays.1 bathtowel from Friday to Monday. One is not informed about carrying detergents. Only 100 ml dishwasher liquid..so a weekend stay allows for 1 service only....certainly not 4.5*as advertised.very mediocre clean.lady mopped the floors then used wet mop on carpets then vacuums.1 heater.poor condition.plug keeps loosening from jack.activity centre heated pool not working.jacuzzi not working.poorly maintained gardens.walking on lawn filled with Baboon excreta.will not recommend nor Revisit. The price does not gel with what is provided qt this resort…
Good value for money. Staff all extremely pleasant and helpful. Grounds well maintained despite all the rain we’d had. Plenty to do for the children all the way through to the adults. Would recommend.
We spent a week here to recharge our batteries away from home and work. The resort is beautiful and serene and the facilities are good. There are beautiful walks and trails to go on and enjoy the fresh crisp air of the mountains. For the not so adventurous you can spend time at the wellness centre and heated pools and jacuzzi. There are ample restaurants on site but you would have to ask for them to cater for you for specific dietary requirements eg if you want a halaal meal they will prepare it separately. If you jot happy with this arrangement then cooking your own meal is the alternative. There's much to do on site like golf, horse riding, archery, putt putt and zip lining to name a few. Overall we have had a lovely time at this resort
I own a timeshare week here and every year things are just getting worse and worse at Fairways. One of the two Jacuzzis did not work at all during our entire week long stay. The other had very limited functionality and was filthy most of the time. The main pool was starting to turn green. The karaoke night did not work again for two years running now because of their WIFI signal they say, yet there are many karaoke systems that do not require live WIFI signal, why don't they just get one of those. Really disappointing. There was blood on one of the sheets from a previous guest, the bed was made up with this blood on it. Really gross. The water features at the put put had not been filled in ages. Management are just letting things slide. What a shame. We left a request for the manager to get back to us about our concerns, yet they never did.…
What a lovely kid friendly place Only thing was it was not walker friendly for the elderly But othwerwise a beautiful place to stay Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Snow was an extra topping for our stay
We stayed at 116 BUYA COTTAGE beautiful homes built overlooking the mountains literally on a cul de sac dead end. It was a six sleeper unit 2 bedrooms and loft upstairs. Beautiful lounge dining kitchen outdoor verandah and braai area. BUYA has the best views and the cottage is well maintained neat and extremely cosy. Attention paid to linen and curtains a real home feel in everything. I own tiheshare past 30 years in 2 five star sun locations and know a good timeshare or catering apartment..this one ticks all the boxes. The owners must be complimented on their holiday home..awesome and we had every item we needed in the cottage. Fairways is a luxury facility and i totally reccommend this location and its offering. Wish i could stay much longer. We had a host of things to do. Archery, trout fishing, bike rides, wellness hot indoor pool and a host of stuff. Place is well maintained only the roads inside the resort must be renovated and potholes filled as soon as possible. I have seen maintenance being done. Understandably after lockdown they too stuggled…
A timeshare weekend, started with a beautiful drive from Durban. Arrival and check-in went well despite the covid virus screening. The weather was beautiful, the unit well kitted out except for the dripping geyser and the water leak in the kitchen, which was fixed immediately we reported it.
The Fairways chalet (6 sleeper) was absolutely clean and upon arrival found the dining table neatly set. Nice view of the golf course even though I am not a golfer. The resort golf clubhouse also offers a nice sunset deck at the water edge of a beatiful dam. Accommodation, reception and activities a definitive "A". The biggest disappointment of the week was a dinner at "The Bergview" restaurant, situated at the resort hotel pool. We ordered the butterbean and smoked chicken soup, which was quite tasty. For mains my wife ordered the oxtail served with mashed potatoes. This she found acceptable. On the other hand, I ordered the lamb casserole served with buttered potatoes. This was not a dissapointment but an utter disaster. First of all, it tasted as if the black pepper lid fell of when the dish was seasoned. My mouth really was on fire. Secondly, I understand lamb casserole is fatty/rich, but to serve it with buttered potatoes, to me is pushing the fat content envelope. I asked the waitress whether the dish could be served with mashed potatoes, but no alternative starch option was given. The manager did agree with me that the dish was over seasoned with black pepper and offered an alternative dish. At that stage my mouth was burning and I had no desire to eat any further. The dish was removed from my bill, but my birthday dinner was spoilt. …
Fairways is one of my families favourite places to stay in the berg. The view of the mountain ⛰ when we wake in the mornings is breathtaking. The evening wood 🪵 🔥 in winter with a hot chocolate n family games are moments and memories we will keep forever. There are many activities to choose from without having to drive off the premises. It’s a place we will keep going back to ❤️
