Stillness Manor Estate & Spa, nestled in the Constantia Valley, has become a haven for lovers of both nature and stillness. Since our renovation in early 2020, our mission is to bring wellness and tranquillity to all guests in this exciting new chapter of the Manor's story. Originally built by the Noakes family in 1952 as a family home the Manor features a classic Cape Dutch gable and was first transformed into a boutique hotel in 1995. Stillness now offers 14 spacious rooms on four private acres of gardens with breath taking views of False Bay, the Constantia Bay, Elephant's Eye Cave, and the back of the iconic Table Mountain. Our Spa with its indoor heated pool provides a full range of exciting treatments and therapies and a sanctuary from reality. Stillness is an ideal location from which to explore the Cape Peninsula and the Winelands region and is only 20 minutes from the Central Business District.Guests are accommodated either in the main Manor House which has three spacious suites including an elegant presidential suite.

Stillness Manor Hotel and Spa is probably one of the best kept secrets in Cape Town. This beautiful hotel sits against the slopes above Tokai with the most stunning views across to Muizemberg. The suite was large with a large en-suite bathroom and lounge and was situated close to the Spa. The patio was great to sit on and enjoy the beautiful view. The Spa has an amazing heated indoor pool and there is an outside pool for those who were looking to cool off.. Will definitely stay here again...

I was most disappointed when I tried several times to contact the hotel to arrange an airport shuttle which was advertised on booking.com. I got no reply. My elderly parents also couldn’t order food through Mr Delivery as their cell numbers are overseas based. So only breakfast could be taken care of

Dear bcradd316173 Thank you for taking the time to review our property. Please accept our sincere apologies for not providing the services you requested. We have completed some large renovations in 2019 and are in the process of growing the management team and staff. We hope to welcome you and your parents in the future to offer them the best level of service that we strive to acheive. Please note that our property is on a slope, so for elderly guests or those who have trouble walking we always suggest to book the rooms in the Manor House. Kind regards, The Stillness Manor Team

The management was welcoming and accommodating, very friendly. The surroundings were beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Waking up in the morning in the surroundings was an absolute pleasure. The pools were clean and water was perfect. There is a spa on the property that you can make use of and that was an extra bonus for relaxation. The idea of you being able to use the indoor pool at night was absolutely lovely and gave us something to do at night, some night swimming in the heated pool was lovely. Not much on the breakfst menu, was a standard menu and no sweet treats like scones, muffins and pancakes in the morning but the management was very friendly and arranged scones the next morning, the fact that he went out of his way was such a pleasure. Riaan the manager was an absolute pleasure to deal with, thank you Stillness Manor and Spa we enjoyed both our treatments and stay.

We had a suite in the Manor House and its was clean, spacious and comfortable. The views are also good and located in a very quiet area. It is clear that the place is being renovated but apart from the dining area and reception the place is badly neglected. The garden is not maintained and overgrown with weed. The gym does not exist anymore. The breakfast was sub standard and on the second day the kitchen had no tomatoes. There are no umbrellas, towels or cushions for the only 3 loungers at the pool. You cannot order a beer, cold drink or water. No information available in the room eg facilities, attractions in the area, who to contact in need or TV channels available. Magazines date back a few years. Management are nowhere to be seen. At best this is a very expensive B&B with an absent owner.

Dear 37pieterm, we appreciate your detailed feedback, which has been carefully studied. We now have a team of professional gardeners that are maintaining the 4 acres of land in a beautiful state. Due to the demands of our clients, the gym has been turned into a yoga and pilates space where regular classes will take place. We certainly strive to make breakfast a pleasant and tasty experience and will take your comments on board. There are 8 large umbrellas on the property and 14 loungers around the pools now. We are still building up the team so that we can provide food and beverages to our clients throughout the day. An information booklet is in the process of being made and should be available in all rooms soon. We hope to meet your expectations during your next visit to Cape Town!

What an extremely beautiful estate and heartwarming personell. Secure location allows you to spend time in relaxing spa or take a stroll on the large grounds. Restaurant offers all meals and breakfast is À la carte. Every detail on the grounds and in room seems to be in honour for the historical value. Rooms are spacious and equipped to all your needs during the stay. They not only have a pool but three pools and one of them is heated 🤗. Also they have steamroom and very authentic Finnish sauna. I'm already looking forward to visit Stillness Manor again.

It's a tragedy that such a beautiful property is managed so poorly. The management double-charged my Mom, and replied with nonchalant reasons why she couldn't be refunded. They requested unreasonable and onerous paper documentation from her, and all the while, seemingly not bothered by the fact that they messed up.This has been a stressful and disappointing experience. The spa experience was also noisy, and the facial therapist was sub-par, treating the face very roughly. No scenic view or pool can make up for making paying guests feel like they did something wrong. Unacceptable.

It was in a quiet and peaceful location overlooking the back of Table Mountain, the rooms were beautiful and the scenery was amazing. The service was excellent, Riaan who was managing the place, was excellent and accommodated all my needs and made me feel at home. I needed a place to quiet my mind after a long 2020 and it turned out to be the best decision I made to cross over to the New Year. Such a beautiful place, I highly recommend it, and would go back in a heartbeat.

I’m a current Guest for the past month, and will be staying here for the next four months. I wouldn’t opt for any other Guesthouse in the area. The service here is fantastic, the hospitality is top class, the entire place is always clean the finishes in each room are exquisite. Flexibility from the staff and owner to accommodate my family during their short visit was an absolute surprise, ensuring them a comfortable stay for the few days and accommodating their individual dietary preferences. An absolute pleasure being here.

Great experience here.

I booked a spa appointment more than 2 weeks in advance and was told on the day that they don’t have my appointment are fully booked for the day. I had to drive from Cape Town and had no warning that my appointment was cancelled. This is unprofessional and disappointing. Not a recommended experience

The food was exceptional. Loved the setting and the staff. It was Spring in South Africa so the pools were not ready-full of leaves. The facility was tired but there were clear signs of the staff preparing for the upcoming busy season. Wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and the iconic Table Mountain. Stillness is too far from the main city to get to any place without a car.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent visit to our establishment. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed our exceptional food, picturesque setting, and the warm hospitality of our staff. Your kind words about the views of Table Mountain and the surrounding countryside are greatly appreciated. We appreciate your feedback about the condition of our pools and the overall state of our facility. We are constantly working to improve and maintain our property, and we're glad to hear you noticed our team's efforts to prepare for the upcoming season. Regarding the location, we understand that our serene countryside setting might be a bit farther from the city centre, making a car a convenient option. However, the peaceful ambience and breathtaking views are what make our location unique. We value your input and hope to welcome you back in the future. Your feedback helps us enhance the experience for all our guests. If there's anything specific you'd like to share or discuss further, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. Warm regards, Sharon Hendricks

Answer from Stillness Manor
Cape Town, South Africa5 contributions1 helpful vote
We are not sure we understood the question which translated as "Why does this accommodation only have 2 hotel stars? I also find 1 rating out of 120" in English? The second part of the question is the one we do not understand. If you are asking why our rating is only 2 stars and implying it should be higher, we fully agree. Unfortunately TripAdvisor ranks all hotels by default as 2 stars unless you are officially graded. Since we do not believe or trust the South African Tourism Grading Council which is extremely expensive, we cannot be graded correctly. We find this absurd but it is part of the idiosyncrasies of being present on websites that have automated systems and do not have anyone we can speak to. If you have stayed with us before, you will know that we are definitely a 4-star operation and we certainly look forward to seeing you soon again. Stillness Manager.
