We were at Gourikwa nature reserve for a wedding in December. The cottages we stayed in are very well equip and we had a beautiful view of the ocean. I would definitely recommend a stay there for a weekend. There is a bunch of cycling MTB and walking trails.

Beautiful but house not clean. Great view. Maintenance staff should wear masks as well as reception, COVID-19 protocols not followed. For stays longer than 5 days, an optional cleaning service must be added (they do have the staff). We were cleaning more than we do at home - not a vacation then. The view cannot be beaten.

Good day Coenie Thank you for completing our review. Unfortunately we cannot service the houses as we have many back to backs and most of our guests do not want staff to enter their houses. Indeed the view stays incredible! We are looking forward to seeing you in December 2022!

Gourikwa is remote. It is not for those who need instant amusement. But for those who want to get away, to become one with nature, to just be, run and challenge themselves with mountainbike trails, rockhopping, long walks inland amongst pristine fynbos, fishing, lone walks along the 5 km rugged seafront, this is it. You may not see other people, but if you do, they will ne likeminded souls. You may bump into wildlife, like mountain zebra or eland. If you don’t want to cook, you can make your way to the restaurant, where a guy called Seef will do the honours. This chef knows his stuff. He serves meals 3 times a day. His braai/barbeque next to the swimmingpool was spectacular. The accommodation we booked was a two bedroomed fisherman’s cottage, two bathrooms, wide patio with uninterrupted sea view, comfy living area and kitchen. It is the kind of place you can stay for a week or longer. It is an easy drive to other places of interest, like wine estaes, olive farms, game reserves, swimming beaches and towns. There is a chapel on the beechfront that is used for the occasional wedding. We loved to just sit in it and meditate.

We had the privilege to work remotely from one of the best destinations for 4 weeks!
If you need to get away, hear the birds and the waves.. see the ocean, experience total peace with views that feed your soul, Gourikwa Nature Reserve is the place to be. Various options of self catering accommodation that offer everything you need to be comfortable with very reasonable prices. All accomodation options have awesome views of the ocean with zebra's and eland visiting quite often.
Enjoy the 5 kilometres of private coastline to walk, drive or practice your fishing skills. Visit the lighthouse, relax at the pool and experience the most beautiful sunrise and sunsets.
Gourikwa is not only the perfect holiday destination but is also a popular wedding venue with a charming chapel overlooking the ocean.
Having a conference or function at Gourikwa is just another option offered by the helpful management team. We'll be back for our 3rd visit soon.

This is a wonderful place to stay having access to both the ocean and nature reserve and never seems to be over-populated. There are good fishing spots and lovely hikes and walks in the bush and the bird watching is great. I would personally recommend it to any of our friends and family. I do however feel that the Fishermans Houses could do with a bit of updating. I also feel that out of season and during the week that Gourikwa could offer better rates to visitors

Best Wedding destination in the Garden Route for a weekend wedding. We welcomed our guests to a Friday night braai at the pool deck where all our family and friends could meet and greet. The ceremony was held at Monica's chapel and reception at the function hall the Saturday and on the Sunday morning we said farewell to our guests after a Sunday morning breakfast before everyone departed. Everything was held on Gourikwa Reserve - very convenient as all guests were accommodated at Gourkiwa's cottages and villa's. Truly a destination that offers the whole package.

Location is perfect and gets 1st price. the cottage we stayed was absolutely beautiful and made for the perfect self catering stay. The big window allowed for the most amazing views of the ocean from both bedrooms and the living area.
The cottage was clean and had a fresh aire to it. We enjoyed the swimming pool, put put and long walks into the sunset.

We will certainly be back to visit this most amazing destination soon.

We were at Gourikwa with the George Camera Club as a group event. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests. We were able to photograph the beautiful scenery in complete safety and in a pristine environment. The highlight was going to the Lighthouse and taking the tour. We will definitely return and hope to stay longer.

We were at Gouriqua for the second year in a row and what a positive experience is was, yet again! The learners did not only have plenty of fun, but also learnt valuable things about themselves and the environment around them. Leadership skills were developed and everyone learnt to work together in a team. The facilities were ideal for both indoor and outdoor activities. The food was of outstanding quality and the accomodation was comfortable and provided everything that was needed. All in all, the teachers and learners had an incredible time at Gouriqua!

The management and staff of the Gourikwa resort exceeded all of our expectations. This must be the perfect venue for a wedding. Our wedding starte the Friday where all the families and friends got to know one another, the actual wedding was on Saturday and we ended with breakfast on Sunday. This was perfect in all ways. Thank you to everyone who made it possible
