The room were large and the floor is tiled. No loose mats next to bed. The tiles are cold. There was no little bar fridge with 2 bottles of water. The 2 water bottles was on the coffee stand. No extra blanket and were given a second duvet....you also do get small long life milk pods but there were creamer. The milk pods will make a vast difference. The milk pods and water bottles to be placed in bar fridge...also take note that some medicines must be kept cool in refrigirator and there was no bar fridge. This do have an impact on insulin as insulin pens must be in a "fridge"..we really would have stayed longer but due to no bar fridge and no mats on the floor we stayed one night. But that spash pool in the kloof are stunning.

Waste of money. Booked for two nights and left after one. When we arrived and were settling in, they just walked into our room with a blanket we did not ask for. No knock at the door - just barged in. What if we were undressed or in the bathroom that had no door? Found that a little strange. The room was massive and sparsely furnished. Nowhere to sit except on the bed. No bar fridge to store milk so quite pointless that they had a messy box of tea bags and coffee sachets with the worst quality coffee creamer available. I guess nobody told them coffee creamer and tea don't work. Walking around the property, they have gone for the juxtaposition of things to create a "quirky" feel. While there is potential, this falls horribly flat and instead just looks like a compound of unfinished projects. The amenities room is actually a dusty garage filled with broken things ranging from table tennis (broken net, grungy bats) fusbol table (grungy and broken parts) a piano in very bad repair, a pool table (not sure where the balls were) a rocking horse (?) and a solitary record (Frisbee??). Head to the bar which is also a not very clean converted garage and expect to pay R81 for a single Bains and a glass of house red. The room was large but had no furniture besides a bed and the dresser. Cold tiled floor, no furniture and bad lighting is not a very pleasant place to hang around in. The walls between the rooms are also very thin and there is no sound insulation. We had neighbours on one side with their barking dogs (pets allowed) and neighbours on the other whose child whined and screamed non stop till late at night and early in the morning. So much for our quiet getaway. The bed mattress was collapsed on one end and I am not sure how much of the linen was actually fresh. They have DSTV with a limited selection of channels. Dinner fulfilled all the disappointing expectations we had become accustomed to. We ordered a soup of the day and chicken livers with mash starter. The soup was not bad, but they must have run out of potatoes because my liver and mash arrived as liver on toast without any explanation. Maybe they thought we wouldn't notice. They had one server for the entire restaurant so everything took forever to arrive. All the while huge amounts of frying smoke came billowing out the kitchen making the environment smokey and unpleasant. We ordered grilled hake and a cheese burger for mains. Upon eventual arrival, the hake looked like the inner sole of an old show and tasted how one would imagine the inner sole of an old shoe to taste. My burger turned into a chicken burger somewhere between its order and its arrival at my table. The cappuccinos were milky and luke warm and no surprise that the ice cream did not arrive. So after a noisy, back breaking sleep and an early morning wake up by the screaming devil child next door, we headed to breakfast. We were offered the free "buffet" or if we preferred, they had an a la carte option. We opted for the buffet which ended up being a selection of coco pops, cornflakes, yogurt, fruit and quite possibly the most tasteless muffin you will find in the country. The tea and coffee station was sloppy with no indication of what was what. There was no water for the tea and there was one milk jug which was being passed around from table to table. We did complain to management and they offered to move us to another room but we decided to cut our losses, packed our bags and departed. The thought of another day and night in this place was too much to bare.

We visited for a weekend and absolutely fell in the love with this place. Our kids enjoyed mountain biking and my favorite place is the kloof pool with views to die for. If you love lamb chops, look no further - was really some of the best. Our room had everything we needed. The staff are very friendly and would recommend this to friends. We plan to come back for our 60th birthday with friends.
