We were placed in the DeluxRooms. Leaking thatch, no fire place as per pics, TV limited channels, no hot water, no attention to detail to the astetics of the room, loose wires, uneven curtains, no bed frill, old threadbare towels, cracked basins, rain water coming in at the door, zero attempt at gardening. NOTHING like the pics on their website. I feel scammed. Not worth the money....

We had a wonderful stay at Africamps at Karoo 1. The units are clean, comfortable and has everything you need. If by any chance you have left someting behind, the super friendly staff are close by to help. As winter was setting in, the indoor fireplace and the hot-tub were an absolute win. Just know you will need a lots of wood. We will be back.

Absolute hats off to Karoo 1 for their amazing service and assistance. We were supposed to have our wedding at this beautiful venue in December. We went for a tasting and the cheff is absolutely brilliant, alongside the friendly, professional staff. Unfortunately De Doorns had flooding the week of our wedding and the venue was also flooded. The owner contacted us to inform us and was willing to go above and beyond to get the place back into shape for our celebration to commence, and even offered to facilitate the wedding in January. The weather forecast was unfortunately not looking good for the day of the ceremony and we decided together with the owner and helpful staff of Karoo 1 that we would change venues. Thereafter the owner refunded us and we were able to secure a different venue. It was such a pity that we did not get to celebrate our special day at this beautiful, secluded location, however we will definitely head back there for an anniversary trip this year.…

A group of 16 of us rented 8 of the tents for a long weekend. The tents are very comfortable, well thought out and well equipped. The bar area, the dining room and the surroundings are also very nice. We weren't able to use of the facilities though, as we experienced terrible flooding and everything was washed away. We were pretty much stuck at the tents the whole weekend, but we made the most of it and the hot tubs were a real hit. Would like to go back at another stage when we can enjoy it to the full. The staff were absolutely amazing throughout the whole ordeal, whilst the GM was no where to be seen.

I have never stayed in the Karoo overnight, but had a mental picture of quiet and great starry expanses. Despite catching one of the few overcast nights, the stay exceeded all my expectations. The location itself is excellent, and the rock pool feels like discovering an oasis. The abundance of birds and other wildlife was a pleasant surprise. Yet the biggest surprise was the quality of the food at the restaurant. We enjoyed a selection of lamb and fillet dishes, and everything was prepared to perfection. The breakfast baskets were extremely generous, and more than what we could eat.

Lovely place to go and unwind. Comfortable camping setup with much, much more. Loved the wood burning pool on the deck and the swimming pool in the kloof is breathtakingly beautiful. Kitchen nook needs more surface space, please!

Arrived to find our unit not ready, due to overstay of previous guests and the garbage left in the unit by the guests. Finally moved in early evening, lost an afternoon, found unit was still not properly cleaned, left over garbage around unit, resulted in a hoardes of flies. Left earlier than anticipated. Stunning site in Karoo, great for families. Africamps a great holiday concept.

We came for our wedding anniversary and booked a room. Peace, quiet and a laidback atmosphere, this is the place for you. Karoo 1 offers entertainment for the kids as well. All staff are friendly, good service, and we enjoyed the food. After the floods 3 weeks ago they are fixing up the place, but it is still a pleasure. Definitely coming back with the whole family.

Apologies for the bad review, but it's important. I booked late, and had to leave early, so this had an impact. The place was exceptional, but arriving late, I was not told I had to bring my own wood, even after the receptionist saying they I could heat water in the hot tub. Then there was no hot water early morning to shower. It was a chilly night, so these two things combined into an average experience. I had to be in Stellenbosch early morning for a meeting, so the reason I stopped was to get a change of clothes and good shower before arriving.
