Ronel and Billy were incredible hosts! They were knowledgable about the land around them, showed us incredible spots on the bay, taught us how to forage for our own food, then let us help prepare our foraged food with them! They made their place feel like home.

Their cozy spot is right below the mountains and above the beach, so the view is marvelous. They have a pool, patio, kitchen, garden, braai pit, and so much more. Couldn't recommend staying with them more. Thanks so much for everything!

I arrived at Bayside quite by accident. One of those accidents that turn out for the best. I was met by Ollie, booked into a dorm room which was clean, the double beds were comfortable and I could sit in an upright position instead of doubled over. The showers and toilets were clean and the swimming pool sparkling throughout my THREE stay. The premises are intelligently broken into the upstairs lounge, dining room/kitchen, with toilets and showers. The outside deck runs the full length of the house with views over the Betty's Bay beaches, penguin conservation and western Cape headlands. The pool area at the back of the property is a raised area with bar and ample sunbathing area. There is a camping area in which I spent two of my three weeks.
The bar, pool table, dartboards and ledge TV area is comfortable and colourful. The Music that Garth - owner - plays is laid back and goes well with the surfing theme of the property. There is an indoor braai in the bar as well as two braai area upstairs near the pool.
A large secure parking area adds to the fact that this is one of the best back packers I have stayed in. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANY AGE GROUP AT ANY TIME.

I had an awesome stay at Bayside, the rooms and bathrooms were clean, a convenient kitchen and the staff were very helpful. The best part was the recreational area where I enjoyed chatting and socializing with other guests. The views of the ocean were a pleasure to wake up to every morning - as was the bird life that seems to surround the area. All in all is has to be one of the best stays I have ever had - I will definitely return for another stay.

This hostel is in a good spot and has large spacious common rooms, but desperately needs refurbishing. The bed was uncomfortable --soft and sagging -- and the same could be said for the rest of the place. In addition, there were more than the average number of roaches in the bathrooms and kitchen.

The location of this hostel is excellent, with high cliffs in the back and the ocean in front. It wouldn't take exceptional effort to bring it back to shape. Also, a ladder to get in and out of the pool would help.

We had a double room with a shared bathroom. The room was clean and spacious. There were 2 shared bathrooms and both were nice and clean. The property is quiet and the balcony that runs across the front of the 2 storey house has fantastic views of the ocean in the distance. The owners are very friendly and helpful. There is a full kitchen for use. We enjoyed our overnight stay as we were travelling through. There is a pool but we did not use it.

A piece of Heaven, situated beneath the mountain and overlooking the ocean, perfect for some soul cleansing. The staff were particularly attentive to all our needs, and omw the fresh grown tomatoes quite a little treat, all in all we enjoyed our stay and will definitely bring our kids next time

The management of the backpackers are extremely helpful.
My car broke down over the weekend and they went out of their way to assisted me from organising a mechanic and towing my car to a safe place over the weekend.

They also extended the roof by the main braai area - big bonus for when its raining. The view over the ocean is for everyone's peace.

Ronel and Billy went out of their way to make our weekend a memorable one. It is definitely not the most traditional venue for a wedding, but it was the perfect place for us. From the fantastic food and stunning views it was magical. Thank you Ronel and Billy

We made a group booking for 15 people, on Saturday night, 19 October - and it was fantastic! The views are great (Mountain and sea view) located in the heart of nature, part of a UNESCO protected nature reserve. The rooms, bathrooms and linen, kitchen and all areas are kept clean and tidy. There is a large fireplace for a braai (BBQ), a stunning swimming pool and a large veranda overlooking the sea view side from the house. The living/ lounge area is large enought, in case the weather is not good outside, however, we had great weather too. The prices are really very affordable and the hospitality is superb! Ronel and Billy did a sterling job hosting us, they had lots of knowledge to share about nature, the sea, and surrounding areas. We fell asleep in nature, with frog-songs in the background
