The road to Oyster Bay Lodge is a challenge, but worth it. Lush and green gardens. The beach with beautiful high dunes. Lots of outdoor activities to be done. All well guided. We booked in 2020 and only finally managed to get here in 2022. Being born and raised in South Africa I wanted to show my fiancé from UK my beautiful country. What a tick off to our trip! From the moment we arrived we experienced top class service with a smile and each staff member could not do enough to make our stay memorable. edwina entertained us with the best bar service, we laughed the entire time. The luxury chalet was perfect, the most comfortable bed, well thought out and the view of the sand dunes and sea was amazing! The chef Chad is highly skilled and he went out of his way to give us braai experience which we really appreciated. We squeezed as much as we could in 2 days and did the horse riding on the beach in the morning with William and his team who took us on a fabulous tour. For lunch we chose the luxury picnic delivered by horseback what a great selection of food and the location was mind blowing. For dinner Chad made a braai for us. Oh we also did dune safari that was so much fun!! We would highly recommended Oyster Bay set on 245 Hectares with 980 different species of fynbos!…

We loved our time at Oyster Bay Lodge. It is in a remote area but this is part of its appeal; it has its own beach a short walk away, and a pool. The staff were excellent in the way they looked out for all our needs, and the food, cooked and prepared on site, was superb. There are plenty of activities available - we tried horse riding, which was a great success. Access is a bit of an issue - we recommend using the Humansdorp route, which provided much easier than the alternative. Overall - highly recommended!

This is completely over priced and overrated. You definitely do not get what you pay for. Perhaps in it's heyday it was spectacular but maintenance has slipped. There's very little choice in terms of food and drinks. In terms of the activities they are sub standard.

An insider's tip for connoisseurs - truly unique (if it weren't for the 25 kilometres of natural road, which are a bit of a strain for a normal vehicle). Highest quality without looking for glamour! Definitely a must for the traveller who has some time (and money).

What a wonderful stay we had at Oyster Bay Lodge. We celebrated our anniversary weekend with our good friends who also celebrate their anniversary on the same weekend. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable with everything you needed (the patio with the view was the best!) The food was right out of the top drawer - excellent. Lots of fun activities - including horse riding on the beach which we did (with experienced and friendly guides). But what sets this Lodge apart, is the level of personal service from the staff. Danielle at reception was very friendly and efficient and Sidney, the Manager, made us feel so welcome and special - as did all the staff in fact. Loved every minute and would certainly go back.

Our room had ample space for a family of 4. The bathroom is well designed and maintained in a clean state. Breakfast was enjoyable. The dune drive is a must (with Grant - he was an excellent host and guide). An overall excellent, calming and enjoyable experience. It’s a thumbs up from me.

Our second visit to the lodge. Daniel at reception and everywhere else reminds us why we came back. Pristine and unspoilt veld that makes me weep at its diversity and richness . Rooms with underfloor heating and hot water that’s really hot. Fireplaces and little touches to show thought and care without it losing its low key but wonderfully authentic vibe. Everything about this place is magical and to be treasured.
