Old Bank Hotel, a restored heritage building built in 1902 by renowned architects Black and Fagg, was the original Nedbank building in the Cape. Oozing charm and sophistication, old meets new in this celebration of classic Victorian architecture and modern design. The entrance to the hotel is via a towering domed glass arch on the ground floor where a doorman will meet you and guide you up to the 8th floor. The elevator doors open into a light and open space that holds the reception, a private dining area and restaurant, a state of the art wine cellar and a show-stopping bar - the perfect space to sit back and enjoy the city views with a classic Old Fashioned or one of our signature cocktails. On warm summer days relax on the loungers and breathe in the distant sounds of the vibrant city below. Old Bank offers free WiFi throughout. Spacious bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms with showers are decorated with modern elegance and luxurious finishings. Choose between Deluxe or Superior Rooms, Suites, or spoil yourself to a few nights in the sought-after Presidential Suite.

The Old Bank Hotel comes highly recommended for its exceptional cleanliness, with guests frequently applauding the pristine condition of both rooms and facilities. While the rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and comfort, a few guests have noted occasional noise and maintenance issues. The staff's attentive and friendly service is a standout feature, although rare miscommunications happen.
Its prime location in Cape Town's CBD is a big draw, despite some concerns about noise and parking. The hotel's appealing amenities, including valet parking and diverse breakfast choices, contribute to its reputation as a stylish establishment offering good value.

Detailed Reviews
Give this new hotel right in the middle of the CBD a chance, you won't regret it. Very friendly and helpful staff, from the doormen Muneeb and Dylan to the breakfast/restaurant servers and front desk. The included breakfast is probably the best I've had in any hotel anywhere, restaurant quality with a diverse menu ranging from a unique take on pancakes (flapjacks) to salmon and avocado toast to eggs benedict on Swiss rösti. Also great coffee and cappuccinos at breakfast, all served in a light and nicely designed lounge on the 8th floor. The rooms have large windows, extremely comfortable beds, and, like the whole hotel, are in a combination historic-modern urban aesthetic that's hard to describe but very pleasant and homey. Location is right on a pedestrian street, near many street markets and a quick walk to many good restaurants and bars on Long Street or anywhere else in the CBD. Only downside is that immediate surroundings of hotel feel a bit deserted and sketchy to walk at night, but that's true of almost anywhere in the CBD outside of the immediate Long-Kloof street corridor. Staying in the CBD means you're a quick Uber trip from almost any tourist destination in Cape Town and also near all of the MyCiti bus routes that are very efficient to take you to different central and coastal parts of town. All in all, an ideal place for a quick tourist visit to Cape Town or also for a longer work trip.

One enters the building at the Nedbank entrance, and take the lift to the 8th floor where the reception, lounge, bar and restaurant is situated.
The hotel is situated in a beautifully restored building, with elegant modern touches that blends well with the old architecture like the wrought iron staircase.
The rooms are spacious and perfectly appointed with all the luxuries you'd expect in a new hotel. The original wooden floors and window frames add a touch of nostalgia to compliment the furnishings.
Breakfast was delicious - the eggs benedict is definitely recommended! Regrettably we did not have any other meals in the hotel, but the items are very reasonably priced for a 4 star hotel in the heart of Cape Town.
The hotel is one block from Greenmarket Square, which can be noisy in the mornings if you are a light sleeper.
The City Sightseeing bus stop, Company Gardens, various restaurants and other attractions are within easy walking distance for those wishing to explore the city on foot.
All in all a great hotel and comfortable base when staying in Cape Town!

I stayed here for over a month which simply flew past and can't say enough about how amazing it was. I hope to do another stint in the hotel before leaving South Africa.
Where to start... I think a good starting point when talking about this hotel is it's staff.
If only I made a note of everyones names to thank them personally but literally every single person from security to reception to house keeping were impeccable. I loved how everyone knew my name and would great me with a friendly smile every morning.
Silly I know but it makes you feel important and taken care of which they absolutely do.
And who can resist a giant smile at the reception when you're not a morning person like myself. You can't help but smile back.
Checkin was effortless as were the room extensions I kept doing because I didn't want to leave.
There is one staff member however I do recall and would like to thank them, that being Dylan from the security office which went above and beyond. Unfortunately I had my cell phone pickpocketed in Cape Town central which I suppose is to be expected. He heard about it and anytime I went downstairs he made sure I felt safe. He even escorted me to the Main Street and showed me which route to take for my own safety. He really is a wonderful member of the Old Bank Hotel team.
The second item worth mentioning is the brand new hotel itself. Its only been open I believe since April and shows with the squeaky clean and modern finishes. The shower is fantastic,.. large enough to have a party with all rooms having smart tv's etc. Amentities are great, not some cheap soap they've rebranded but amenities you can actually use.
On that I have to thank the housekeeping team for their amazing service. The team manager especially, full of smiles and sorts out any requests you may have in a heartbeat.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel.
I usually stay exclusively at 5 stars, but this one became my home away from home.
Thank you Old Bank Hotel staff.

My wife and I stayed for the first four nights of our honeymoon tour of South Africa.
The welcome we received was fab! Instantly relaxed! Our room had been ‘honeymoon dressed’ with rose petals across the bed and floor, friends had ordered roses and champagne which was all set up, the porter opening the champagne for us to enjoy!’
Each evening when we got back from our busy days we dropped into the bar for a ‘nightcap’, the brilliant Aretha behind the bar always had a smile and wanted to know how each day had gone.
Breakfast was good. The coffee fresh and strong!
The Old Bank is just that, a beautiful building, previously a bank, tastefully transformed into a great hotel.

This was our first time in Cape Town and we loved the hotel. The rooms are huge, modern and quiet, with a fab shower. Breakfast was always very fresh and delicious. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you. The location was perfect for the hop on/hop off bus (literally 2 mins away) and whilst we walked to the V&A during the day we jumped in an UBER after dark which only cost £2.50. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Cape Town.

We arrived at the Old Bank Hotel after 2 days of roadtripping from Johannesburg to Cape Town.
If you choose to make use of the paid for parking they have on offer, The Old Bank Hotel makes use of a valet service as you cannot take your own car to the parking lot.
After handing our keys over to the valet service, we were shown to our room and had just unpacked all our clothes when we realised our room had no windows that could open and the aircon wasn't working.
I put a call through to reception and they promised to fix the issue. After the handyman could not figure out what was happening to our aircon, we were provided an upgraded room at no additional cost. This room had windows that could open, was much larger and the aircon worked. We were very happy for this uograde.
The bed in our room was so comfortable! When I got out of my bath and into my pajamas, i sank right into the bed and slept late for the first time in months. We were awoken by the daytime singer, a lady who is visually impaired, who sings gospel songs in exchange for money. I used to live in Cape Town and I had completely forgotten about her. Hearing her sing, made me realise that I am definitely home.
The breakfast here is a buffet style that includes all the continental breakfast favourites like pastries and jams and fruits as well as warm breakfast options. The waiter told me that if I didn't want anything from the buffet, I was welcome to order a custom breakfast.
One thing to note about this place, their service is top tier on all fronts.
On our second night my oartner and I decided to order room service. I ordered the Mamma Mia with chicken and unfortunately my chicken was raw. Insent it back, disappointed for the first time in the hotel. The apologised and said the chef used thebwring cut of chicken so it didn't cook through. My partner ordered a burger. Overall the room service is not a service i would recommend. My partner got sick the following day after only eating at the hotel's restaurant the previous day.
Mixed feeling about this place.

I do a lot of traveling and for the most part have had good luck with hotels, but Old Bank Hotel in Cape Town really stands out above the rest. The rooms are very clean and spacious (I love the wood floors), with a mini fridge and coffee maker. The breakfast provides a lot of options, and some nutritious room service entrees when you're too exhausted at the end of the day of exploring to head back out.
The location is central, beside Greenmarket Square, within walking distance to a lot of popular spots (15 minutes or less to places like Bo Kaap, Company Gardens, District Six Museum) or a short and affordable cab or Uber ride to other locations. But it was the staff, from the people who greet you downstairs, to the front desk, housekeeping, and dining and room service staff, that truly made the stay. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, answered my many questions, and gave me some great tour guide recommendations that ended up being some highlights of my trip (Rene of We Do Tours and Pete the hiking guide). As a solo traveler I want to add that I felt completely safe the entire time.
Lastly, I often travel as a standby passenger, and on my first attempt of the departure flight I was unable to get a seat on the plane. I was grateful to know that Old Bank had availability for me to return one more night, knowing I could return to these guys truly made a somewhat stressful travel setback a lot easier. Hands down I recommend anyone traveling to Cape Town to book your stay at the Old Bank Hotel. I can't imagine a better deal for the rates you get there. If I ever get to return to Cape Town that's where I'll stay again. Thanks to everyone for such a great experience!

Room: Blood stains on duvet. Very noisy due to single-glazed windows, and nothing is properly secured, causing creaking doors and window frames all evening/night. Not cleaned properly. Also some pieces of laminate broken. The room is also very clumsily put together, so you cannot blow dry your hair in the shower (no socket). If you leave a can of drink in the minibar one day, they will tell you to close it the next day. By the way, the can didn't even get cold because the refrigerator is broken😂.
Service: You will generally be greeted. However, I borrowed an iron, shirt was ruined because the iron was dirty (I can't get it out).
Breakfast: very monotonous, often finished. If you get there early and for a day, fine. As others have already indicated, it is better to get coffee outside.
Went to another hotel 2 days before departure. Refund? Well, a week later I still haven't received anything.

We had the most amazing 3 night stay here as part of our honeymoon trip in South Africa. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us.
The food was delicious and catered well for me too, being vegetarian.
This is a great place to base your trip to Cape Town around. We took the city sightseeing bus tour a lot of the time to get around and learn about the city and there is a stop just around the corner :). Whilst in Cape Town we did table mountain, visited the V&A Waterfront, took a boat trip around the harbour at V&A, Kirstenbosch botanical gardens and both the blue and red bus tours. There's lots more we need to do so will have to return one day!
Parking is available here at R100 per night and the hotel take the car and bring it to you as needed. We only had the car for one night as we were at the end of our journey in Cape Town and to be honest you don't have to have a car to explore.
Thank you to everyone for giving us an unforgettable experience and the best honeymoon we could have asked for! We hope to return one day in the not too distant future.
We would recommend Old Bank Hotel to everyone.
All the best, Becky & Tom

Located right in central Cape Town adjacent to Green Market Square. Hotel is above an operating bank. You have to access the hotel by lift at street level but there is porters/security on duty 24 hours. Our rate included breakfast which was traditional buffet but you could also order specialised items off the menu at no additional cost. We found the breakfast very good. There is a bar and the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. It only has a limited menu but we were very happy with the 1 dinner and lunch we had. Service was excellent. Our room was good, serviced daily and very good value. Stayed 4 nights. All staff were very friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend this hotel if staying in the CBD.
