Good location very close to some wonderful restaurants all in walking distance. Rooms good size with a big comfy bed. Buffet breakfast with hot and cold choices. Unfortunately our fridge didn’t get cold so not much use. No robe or slippers supplied either. Staff helpful particularly the door staff. One of them walked with my husband to Avis to collect our hire car. He was absolutely lovely just sorry I didn’t get his name.

This hotel is excellent. The staff are friendly, very welcoming, attentive & knowledgeable. We arrived early but were accommodated, and even upgraded, within a few minutes. Our room was very spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and the bar / restaurant area is great. We didn't have any other meals here, so I can't comment on that. The hotel is situated right in the center of Cape Town. The trouble is, the area is teeming with beggars and pick-pockets. Going out was like running the Gauntlet. Not the hotel's fault, of course, but this issue needs addressing by the local authorities.

The Old Banks Hotel was our first night after landing in Cape Town. We were received extremely friendly with a big smile at the reception and that is the first thing I would like to praise: the staff. Every single staff member was very friendly and welcoming. There you immediately got into a positive mood after the long journey. Our room was large, clean and very nice. The breakfast was varied and delicious. If you want to be right in the center, this is the place to be. The location is right in the middle! Thank you very much for the great stay.

This hotel was recommended to us by Trailfinders when we booked our multi stay holidays to South Africa and Mauritius. The hotel itself was very nice, with nice and clean rooms and very comfy beds. The shower room was very clean with very good quality complementary toiletries. The breakfast was good and the staff was very helpful and kind. The hotel also dressed our bed with red rose petals to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and this was a very much appreciated gesture. Sadly, we felt the location was not ideal, everyone we met told us not to go out and walk around the area as it is not safe. We ended up using Uber (which, by the way, is very convenient and affordable in Cape Town) to go everywhere. We felt it was a shame as we always like to walk wherever we go to experience an authentic feel of the place.…

This is the best hotel hotel I have ever stayed at ( I travel a lot for work and pleasure). The service was phenomenal, the team is super friendly and really helpful. The room was immaculate and despite the short notice of the booking ready for me when I got there. I really recommend this gem to anyone visiting Cape Town.

Lovely old building right in the city centre. Good sized room, exceptionally clean. Comfortable bed, big bathroom with a great shower. The staff are a delight - friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Recommended, would stay here again.

We stayed at the Old Bank hotel from the 5th of September 2023 and checked out on the 9th. The hotel is in the city centre and very close to the front of the hotel there is a large market. As you would expect during the day it is very busy. When our transport dropped us off, one of the first things you notice is that there is nowhere to park. We were given a warm welcome by the doorman shot took our luggage up to our room for us. We received an equally warm welcome from the receptionist. We had upgraded our room prior to travelling. We were shown to our room which we were initially very happy with. We were on the 5th floor. The room was large, it had a big comfortable bed. The bathroom had a large walk in shower. The decor was lovely. We had travelled all night from Heathrow and so decided to get a bit of sleep. This was easier said than done. Unfortunately our room had large, ill fitting, single glazed sash windows. The room was very noisy. There were vendors shouting, all competing with one another in a bid to sell their goods. We made light of it and were under the impression that at least it would be quiet at night as the market would have finished. We could not have been more wrong. There were people outside the hotel shouting, swearing and fighting all night. Next morning we spoke to reception and asked if we could be moved to a quieter room. We were told to pack our things and that they would move us whilst we were out that day. We returned that evening and had been moved to a side room on the 7th floor. The room was much smaller and proved to be no less noisy. The first evening in that room, we were watching TV and another guest walked into our room. Reception had clearly not cancelled their room entry card or advised them that they had been moved. The positives of our stay, the staff were excellent. If I was rating them then they would get 5* all the way. Food in the hotel was of good quality and reasonably priced. The biggest issue for us is the fact that the old, wooden sash windows do not fit properly and are single glazed. If you aren’t bothered by noise then this may not be an issue for you. The hotel is not very far from The Waterfront. I would suggest that you take a taxi. We were advised by the hotel staff not to walk there as it is not safe, particularly at night. We took their advice and did just that. Once again, the staff were excellent but the hotel really wasn’t great. …
