Detailed Reviews
Our stay at The Cartel House was absolutely amazing. The customer service from all employees was exceptional making our stay a memorable experience. Our room was impeccable with finishes absolutely stunning, we could call it A work of Art. The restaurant employees are warm and welcoming, offering good food quality and great preparation. Memories areade when everything comes together perfectly, staying at The Cartel House made this our reality. A definite recommendation for anyone looking to stay in our beautiful Mother City.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and they really do try to make your stay perfect. This is a coliving with an inherent atmosphere, but sufficient confidentiality. The rooms are cozy and very stylish, they have everything you need and even a little more, they are more spacious than standard hotel rooms. Our master suit had a transparent wall between the bathroom and the bedroom, which added a spice to living with my boyfriend, but consider this if your relationship is more constrained.
The Internet works great and does not cause any problems during video calls and downloading heavy files. There are enough coworkings and private working places so we didn’t feel cramped while buiseness calls.
The only thing we regretted here that we could not have stayed even longer ‘cause live here extremely well.

I always say that the people of Cape Town and South Africa don't value our city and its little hide aways. This hotel is a prime example of excellent service and absolute relaxation. With its limited rooms it also gives a sense of individual attention from its staff. It was indeed a memorable stay.

On Saturday, 1st May 2021 my wife and I took advantage of a bundled deal offering advertised by Cartel House Hotel and checked in roundabout 16:00 after a relaxing Spa as part of our Wedding Anniversary celebration.
I asked via email during that week if they could please do something special for us as it is our wedding anniversary on the Friday, 30th April, however when we got to the room we didn't notice anything done that indicates this at all. I couldn't make any enquiries about this either as there is no room service, which is odd because how would you communicate if there was an emergency?
Considering that we have never been to this hotel before, it would seem that this hotel focuses more on business clientele that comes in for a one or two night stay and then leave again, but then if that is the case, the management should look into the finer details and ensure that all the amenities are at least in working order as advertised. The Wi-fi in our room didn't work and neither did the electrical points to the left of the bed.
Nevertheless, we didn't allow this to dampen our celebrations and still headed out to enjoy the rest of what was left of our day.
A lot has been done on the aesthetic and cosmetic appeal to the rooms, which is all good and well when you're paying R1700 a night, but then the service should be on point for that price as well. For us this wasn't a business trip, but a special occasion and unfortunately the hotel missed the mark on our experience as first time guests.
Yes, hospitality has taken a knock in these challenging times, but that does not mean that service should be compromised by any means and I hope that this leaves room for improvement. Other than this the room was neat and tidy and offers a beautiful view across the city.

My overall experience was one that will be very memorable, for all the right reasons. Firstly, I was very impressed by the impeccable interior decor of the hotel, it’s chic, stylish and comfortable.
Upon my arrival I was politely greeted at reception, asked to sign in and was shown to my room. I was very happy with the service and the introduction to details concerning the room. I found that the hotel has the convenience for an overnight stay, or an extended one, with access to WiFi I was still able to respond to emails whilst doing some work on my laptop overlooking the city scape from the balcony. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that Netflix was available too, this is not a common occurrence with other hotels I have stayed at - but it’s really cool that you Cartel House moves with the times. The luxury of the room and look of the hotel is second to none.
To conclude I’d like to make mention that the staff really goes the extra mile, checking in to see if everything is okay, and always asking how they can be of service. Needless to say I was happy with my stay and enjoyed a hearty breakfast at Clark’s before checking out in the morning. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone from young professionals, solo travelers to couples wanting to take a weekend break.

We booked 2 rooms in Cartel House Hotel & there were issues with both.
The apartment is an afterthought with the fire escape & a dumb waiter to the kitchen both in the room. There is no lock on the door, just a code which isn’t changed after the previous guest so you can’t lock the door at all. The safe wouldn’t work and despite me reporting it to reception it was never fixed. The TVs in neither room worked, again reported it but wasn’t fixed. The plumbing in one room was faulty so there was an electric diffuser constantly running to hide the smell. The air con in the apartment only partly worked so it was very warm. The apartment is also very loud due to it being next to the lift shaft. One of the days after the room was cleaned, there was a mysterious yellow liquid in the sink (urine??)
There is a bar/lounge advertised, there isn’t one! The night porter will get you a beer which you can take to your room but no wine/spirits.
The only positives were the staff were friendly & the decor nice.

I stayed for 2 nights in a huge luxurious room on the 8th floor.
The room (more like a size of an apartment 100m) has everything you need, from entertainment and a full kitchen .
The view is breathtaking and the vibe is another level
Perfect also to host a bunch of friends over.
Highly recommended

Such a lovely experience... When in your room, the outside hustle and bustle is completely muffled out. And at the same time, you get to have all these restaurants/facilities within walking distance. The rooftop pool is amazing with very cozy seating options. Staff are friendly and ready to serve however they can... Fist class experience!

The room is very spacious and well fitted. Good view of the city. Central to Cape town city, and within walking distance from bus stops.
Room service, Restaurant menu and communication are all on Whatsapp. Found it very comfortable and up to date.
The room was ready @ 14H00 when we checked in, it was in very good condition, very clean.
Don't leave your keys at the front desk or security, you are practically telling the world you are not in your room. Never ever in 30 years of travel, I left a key at reception. My own security rules served me well up till now.

If all the rooms are similar, then you're set for a sophisticated stay - and views, views, views. Ridiculously comfortable bed, friendly and helpful service and central location in Cape Town. And I hear the rooftop pool will be open soon... Perfect for business travellers (or any visitor to Cape Town, really). Access to the shared workspaces (check out the furniture!) made it convenient for me to get work done when I needed to.
