Check in was a bit strange. They claimed not to have 2 apartments close to each other with the right bed configuration so split the party at opposite ends of the hotel. One room still didn’t have the right configuration so after another trip to reception they found an apartment with the right configuration that was close. Good eventually but a lot of hassle after a very long flight.
Other issue was towels- they ran out. However they only ran out after they’d taken towels from our room. Eventually got towels the next day.
Travel desk was excellent. Very helpful and great drivers.
Getting in to the beach bar felt like you had to justify yourself to a grumpy person on entry which was far from welcoming. Once in the beach bar the staff were great.
Very much a conference hotel and generally lacking style and comfort. Perfectly okay but too average to make me want to stay there again.

Stayed as a solo traveller for four nights on my last stop, travelling around South Africa. This hotel was designated as part of the tour.

I was apprehensive at first as I read reviews about thefts from in-room safes. Upon arrival, I was assured this situation had been dealt with, no need to worry and they are now a cashless hotel. I had no issues during my stay. There is an ATM that charges 7 rand per transaction.

Greeting upon arrival was efficient, with a quick check in. The hotel is quite far from the V&A Waterfront and shops and can feel isolating. I was not told until I asked 2 days later that there is a hotel shuttle service to V&A. When I went to use the service the next day, I was told I needed to book and there were no spaces. Reception did not tell me this. It wasted a lot of time and I eventually took a taxi for 200 rand; taking a taxi worked out much more convenient for me as I could go and also return at my convenience.

There were always lots of staff around the hotel lobby and concierge area to ask questions when needed.

Breakfast was chaotically busy when large groups descended on the buffet, and staff, whether the buffet was busy or not were quite slow at times to observe new comers and provide tea/coffee.

I had dinner once and was pleased with the service when a waiter pointed out I could vary an option, which was much more to my taste; another server had not mentioned this.

It was spring when I arrived and the weather was unusually cold and cloudy, so I did not use the pool or beach area. I did see a beautiful rainbow on one of the days over the sea.

My room on the ground floor was large, clean, bright and very comfortable. I did enjoy resting on my last days in my room as there wasn't much to do at the V&A in bad weather. Bathroom had separate shower and bath and a door for the toilet.

Room was nicely, cleaned everyday.

Overall, I did have a pleasant stay.

We enjoyed a week long stay at these apartments.
They furnished well, very comfortable for a family of 4, although it was a 6 sleeper unit, I think it would cramp up space if 6 ere accomodated.
The views are great, and the facilities on your doorstep fantastic.

Had booked for two nights paying £340 for a two bedroom room for three of us. We discovered there was NO AIR CONDITIONING just a one floor mounted fan which was useless. We were told if we wanted air conditioning we would have to upgrade !!! I think the amount we had paid would include air con anywhere else and as I told the staff we have travelled extensively around South Africa and have even had air con in backpackers and small guest houses
The room was scruffy with worn furniture and kitchen area. The view was great and I think that is why they are getting away with charging these prices for substandard rooms.
The bar/pool area was too small for such a large hotel and the service was hit and miss. A note was put under our door informing us that the bar and restaurant would be closing due to health and safety reasons at 10 pm one evening!
We left after one night as there was no way we could spend another night in that oven of a room. Also told they had accidentally charged 500 rand to our room which they said they would sort out but still waiting last time I checked
Interestingly one of the duty managers sympathised with our complaints and said he couldn't understand why it is awarded 4 stars by the tourist board year after year.
Plenty of other accomodation in Cape town so avoid this place

The worst episode of my extensive travel experience. Inefficiency is the hallmark of this joint, the Lagoon Beach Hotel, Cape Town. Electricity went off at night, they didn't put on the Generator for half an hour and when they tried or pretended to put it on, it failed six times in a span of another half an hour. With no emergency lighting provision in the rooms and the corridors it became a horrifyingly eerie kind of experience for the young children, who as a result started crying. The attitude of the supervisory staff towards the whole appisode or the children/ guests misery was appallingly non -cooperative. Even genuine equests by the guests (like providing a torch, safety lights, or chargers plugs) were outrightly denied or met with a stone faced response. A totally uncooperative staff & negligent service!

I’m going to be honest here. i was expecting luxury. It was advertised as a beautiful lagoon view with amazing food and good service but the best view we had was a grey beach coated in fog as shown in the picture above. The food was disturbingly mushy and hairy (see above picture) And to top it off my already waning patience was promptly dissipated when an employee started banging on my door at 10pm.
it also took us 4 hours to check in bc the desk people were confused.
Don’t be fooled by the pictures they show u

Lovely apartments beautiful , spacious , luxurious it had all the amenities . Excellent view of the mountain and the sea . Check in is difficult as there is no reception we were told to go one place and then another . Its basically a few apartments thats been let out so it doesnt have that hotel or accommodation feel that one wants on holiday . Like holiday vibes . But the accommodation itself is excellent

note this is about the APARTMENTS and not the hotel .... the apartments seem to be well-appointed and have great views and equipment. I had everything I could have wished for and everything worked well. My only gripe was that the areas outside the apartments is vacant and tiled and thus echoes badly. If you don't mind noise outside your room it is fantastic and well worth a stay.

We were booked to stay in one of the Lagoon Beach apartments for 5 nights, after our journey from the UK, but after 1 night we checked ourselves out and booked ourselves into the Fernwood Manor Guest House, that’s further into Cape Town and in a nicer area and closer to everything that’s going on.
Our apartment at Lagoon Beach was small, dated, no aircon and dirty. Our bedroom door was hanging off it’s hinges. It’s too far out of town and not in a very nice area. There are plenty of wonderful guest houses in Cape Town to look at and better valve for money. We would not recommend the apartments.

My two friends and I stayed here prior to catching a cruise. We were offered an upgrade to a hotel in which we had stayed on a previous visit to Cape Town but I am so glad we declined the offer.
The location of the hotel is beautiful and the staff are so friendly, helpful and happy. The rooms were spotless,
But best of all, the food was amazing value and so well presented. We enjoyed a fantastic evening meal- one of the best I have had in a long while and many thanks to the lovely chef who presented me with the most beautifully decorated bowl of porridge ever (he will know who he is).
