This hotel is located at the comercial and service area of the town. At night there are many options for food, drink and parties. Close to the Kloof Street at Gardens, Greenpoint neighborhood and the V&A as well. Challenging atmosphere if you walk around the hotel area at night as in any big downtown area around the world.
We had booked a hotel room through Bookings.com and got a confirmation, we was very happy to enjoy Cape Town during our honeymoon. Since we knew that our flight was coming in late almost around midnight we emailed the hotel directly letting them know we will have a late check in. We did not get a response which we first of all found very strange. Now we understand why, they had in there system to overbook this hotel to make sure to fill their other hotels. When we arrive around 11:30 PM the people in the reception acted very strange and very unwelcoming. We understood why just a couple minutes later when they told us that they didn’t have a room for us because the hotel was fully booked and that they were sending us to another hotel. Not only had we traveled over 15 h and been up since 4 AM that morning. It is outrageous to treat your guest in this matter, sending them to a totally different hotel they have not chosen, done no research, in a bad area that did not feel safe and the standard of the hotel was even worse and the price was less. I can’t believe this was the start of our honeymoon and we were extremely disappointed to have such a welcoming. After this we had to find a hotel room in middle of the night in sometimes unsafe Cape town with a lot of luggage. Same thing happened to an Austrian couple standing in cue after us to the reception.…
Looking at the relatively small entranceway on my arrival - I expected to be cramped inside - but no, the room I had was a very good spacious size. The room was modern, with a contemporary feel. Bed was very comfortable. Location was good, and I thought price was very good too. The staff that I interacted with were all very helpful, pleasant & friendly. Would love to return for a longer stay.
Our room (202) was spotlessly clean and the hotel was very quiet for all three nights - we faced an internal courtyard. The staff are lovely - nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfasts and there is a really good place to eat in the evenings nearby called Thirty Ate
A stone's throw from Long St and the hop-on hop-off bus and a 15 minute walk from the V&A Waterfront, this hotel is hard to beat for convenience, value and friendliness. With its huge rooms, excellent wi-fi, staff who go out of their way to be helpful and an amazing retro 50s lift, it offers excellent accommodation to anyone visiting Cape Town.
