Shaka's seat guesthouse is in the heart of Ballito making beach days, shopping days or just chilling days accessible and easy. The guesthouse is clean with a nice homey vibe. Debbie is a wonderful happy person who greeted us with a big smile ready to help and accomodate. She made is feel welcome and relaxed from the start. The rooms are perfect and all you need for when planning fun filled days needing a clean comfortable room to return to for a great night's sleep and wash-up. Shaka's seat is very reasonably priced with capable staff. If you are looking for affordable, clean accomodation, service with a smile and a personal touch to your holiday, I highly recommend Shaka's seat. A little gem we will be returning to. Thank you Debbie and team for giving us a stay to remember!

Stunning views from the balcony of the Catfish Suite, short walk to the beach! Rooms are clean and serviced daily, and equipped with everything you'll need! Very friendly hosts, and also very informative of what to do in the area, which we really appreciated! Thank you for a wonderful stay, will definitely recommend this property!! It's beautiful!

We were housed in one of the garden units. Very nice looking units with a garden view. No fridges in the unit, I had to keep my insulin in a rusted fridge in the garage. At our arrival we were told that the TV is not yet working and that they just waiting for the service provider to connect. It never happened. After two days of no TV they moved us to the next door unit where the power kept on tripping. Very frustrating not being able to even make a cup of coffee. We decided to leave early, cutting our holiday short, staying under these circumstances is not pleasant especially if they blaming you for filling the kettle to much resulting in the tripping of the plugs. They then offered to move us to one of the luxury units inside the house for the last two days of our stay. Must say, these units were very pleasant. Just to put the cherry on the cake, at the airport on our departure, I received a call, asking me if I took a green towel from the bathroom by mistake, assuring the caller that I certainly did not and that the towel must be there, they must just have a good look. After a half an hour I phoned back to enquire about the towel, whether they find it or not, they did find it, but did not have the decency to let me know. Will I stay there again? I think not......

We booked at Shaka’s Seat for 3 nights but checked out after the first night . We are frequent travellers and have never done this before . We sacrificed our upfront payment rather than spending another night in this guesthouse.

Future potential guests should be aware that Shaka’s Seat is situated on a noisy, busy road . While this obviously cannot be changed , the fact that the mattresses, linen, towels, pillows and other items such as mats and throws are old and tired is something that can and should be addressed.

We left after one uncomfortable night and checked into a nearby guesthouse which was 100% better equipped and was far more peaceful. The new guesthouse was only slightly more expensive than Shaka’s Seat and also included a delicious English breakfast . Overall Shaka’s Seat is poor value for money and if you’re looking for a comfortable, beachfront experience, you’re not going to find it here.

I just lost half my money because I cancelled my booking here. Thanks to the reviews on booking. Com it came to my attention that they have guest house curfew. Not mentioned on their website or the correspondence sent to me. When I asked about this I was told that they advise guest upon arrival regarding an alarm they activate at night restricting your movements outside. That is not even in line with curfew hours which is 00h00 till 04h00??? Please be aware of this before you book at Shaka seat. They withheld information and also half my money.

Beautiful view, well located for the beach, nice and sunny pool and friendly staff. The styling is a bit dated, it feels like an english hotel from the 60s, but nonetheless a great place to stay in Shaka's Rock. Good for a couple of days of relaxing on the coast

We only spent 1 night at Shaka's Seat but will definitely return. The room has everything you need for a comfortable stay, rooms get serviced daily. Each room has it's own patio. The road passing below it is quite busy but the patio doors block the sound of passing cars. The beach is literally a stone throw away. You will receive a very warm welcome upon arrival and the hosts are very helpful. Great value for money!

We rented Chakas's Cove for the week of 13 - 19 of July 2015. My hubby and I, our 16 year old son and 13 year old daughter. A cosy apartment just down the road from Shaka's Seat. On arrival we found the place to be impeccably clean, the kitchen was kitted with everything that one would need from a self catering apartment and the linen on the beds were of very high quality. Comfy pillows to sleep on and their beds are cleaned through a professional cleaning company. It really did feel like home away from home. I cannot say enough about the view from our balcony - absolutely breathing! Huge thanks to Sandy and Sally for everything. We will definitely be back.
