Stayed here on the first stop of a two week holiday. Terrible roads from the border, but well worth it. Excellent toilets and large spacious campsites. Right on the banks of the beautiful Limpopo river. Beware, not a lot of animals to be seen but highly relaxing environment
This is camping with a difference! A charming camp kitted out with everything one could need in the kitchen including a fridge, cooker and bar - all pots & pans, crockery and cutlery provided so no need to bring tons of equipment, just your own food and drink. A BBQ and a fire pit surrounded by chairs are situated in a clearing between the bedroom cottages, stocked with a stack of wood for burning so the only work you have to do is light the BBQ and cook your meal then sit and watch the stars or see if you can spot anything in the river or on the riverbank. The staff wash up for you in the morning and make your bed. Talk about being cosseted! A lovely quiet place for a few days or even just an overnight stay. /a well equipped basic kitchen and very comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Really no complaints and the position is lovely. Individual rooms are nice and private.
Crossing Platjan border post we asked "Garmin" to recommend a site for us to pitch tent for night 1 of our planned 10 night adventure up to the Makgadikgadi pans. Limpopo river lodge was the reply and so we hit GO TO and about 40 odd kilometres later on unpaved road (Not too bad) we arrived at lodge reception. Simple and efficient the reception is merely a stop for you to handle the paperwork, register and pay. John or Pretty were the smiling faces that greeted us. A map hand out is provided and the "secret" location of the key is provided to the entrance gate of the camp site section.
