Travelling from Johannesburg to Mosselbay relocating to our new home we were looking for overnight accommodation close to Willowmore with easy access from the N9 for our trek of 2 vehicles pus trailer. What a magnificent find we made with Keurfontein! Every single box was ticked from location, security, room facilities with attention to all conceivable detail, friendliness and gourmet dinner at Sophie's Choice. We've already made arrangements for a longer stay bringing along the kids and grandkid. A true gem!

We absolutely loved our stay at Keurfontein Country House. The accommodation is beautiful and comfortable, beautiful setting and gardens too. The antique shop is really fascinating and the restaurant is simply the best, with the most beautiful old world decor.....love all the chandeliers too! And the food is absolutely the best in the Karoo! The lamb shank was the best I have ever eaten, and the vegetables in phyllo pastry was divine! Definitely worthwhile going back there again. My only suggestion is that the rooms have decent sized mugs in them for tea or coffee, as the tea cups are really small. A minor matter......

On our road trip from Cape Town to Mountain Zebra we travelled on Route 62 and stayed overnight at Keurfontein. What a super place. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and we even had a wood burning stove which we kept going through the night as it was bitterly cold the night we were there. A place we highly recommend and will definitely revisit!

We had a perfect stay at the pet friendly Keurfontein Country House! Amazing host Peppie went the extra mile to ensure that all was well and that we had everything we needed (even our Yorkie!) We had dinner on the evening we arrived (a beautiful lamb stew..) and breakfast the next morning (perfect full breakfast..) We had the perfect stay in room 4, cleanliness and comfort was of the highest standards and the awesome view ... beautiful, I highly recommend this property! We will stay again! Thank you so much!

We overnighted on our way back to Cape Town. Overall we enjoyed our stay although the odd,
early closing of the restaurant was strange. However the supper brought to us was excellent.
I was a bit diismayed to see, that after booking online and paying 990.00 well in advance, a sign at the gate advertising a reduced rate of 750.00.
The room was very comfortable and atmospheric.
The breakfast the next morning was very good.
The only negative was that the hot water in the shower the next morning disappeared, I suspect the gas tank was empty. This should be monitored more carefully to ensure the this sort of inconvenience does not happen.

I had an early lunch here on a Sunday in January 2023. I last visited Sophia's about 5 years ago when she was still in Willowmore itself and really liked it. The farm setting, on an arid hillside surrounded by beautifully hued mountiaslns, is quite spectacular and the restaurant is filled with interesting curiosities and objets d'art.
I had a venison pie with a salad, and vegetables which arrived in a cute phylo pastry basket. The pie was good, albeit not properly warmed through and not exactly bursting with flavour. The veggie basket was smotherd in melted cheddar which definitely struck a false note. The salad was served with a mayo dressing which I also thought peculiar. The whole thing was prettily presented and adequate, but I wasn't blown away. Cheesecake (fridge, not baked, as I was incorrectly told) and a decent coffee to end off with, at R240 all in incl tip.
There is accommodation available as well which looked very nice, from the outside at least, but I noticed that the swimming pool was dry. I had decided to sleep over at The Willow Guesthouse in the town itself and will write a review of that later.
I've realised that one has to adjust one's expectations when visiting this part of the world. I'm sure it's difficult enough to get good produce and keep standards up, so that anything more interesting or creative than a Wimpy burger and chips is generally to be welcomed.

We visited for lunch as part of a tour group . A lovely setting , with very unusual, unique & quirky decor.

Food was delicious, when we saw the size of the portions we opted to share , they were too large for us .

Drinks a very reasonable price too .

We would certainly recommend stopping here , the guest rooms looked lovely, there is a pretty garden with outdoor seating , sitting there with a bottle of chilled wine would be idyllic.

Great place to stay on your way down to the coast. Beautiful with great food. Fireplace in room kept us warm on a cold winters night. The food was served in the room; so no need to go out to the restaurant.
Self catering will also be a good option with everything one needs.

The swimming pool requires attention... maybe convert it to a natural pond?

Just fantastic. What a beautiful setting, way out of town (Willowmore) in a fantastic farm type environment, with everything you need, from great great food, to well kept very large rooms, to Sophi's antique shop, with wine and beers available.
It really is a very very nice place to stay over, even for a couple of days, as there is quite a lot to do around there as far as interesting drives go, like driving to Rhodes, or even just to relax completely.
Great host in Sophi and Pepe, who will take care of all your needs
