This is the perfect en-route stop-over. Phoning only an hour prior to my arrival, I was welcomed warmly and accommodated with ease. The annexe allocated to me was spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. I enjoyed a tasty three course dinner served at a dining table in my room. The breakfast served in the communal dining room was set on white table linen and was flavoursome and abundant. Michelle gave me excellent service and was a friendly host. Ideal as a special stay.

We wanted a simple, comfortable Karoo type farm stay and we got just that. We had the old fashioned suite of rooms in the Old Farmhouse (main house) just for the two of us, and enjoyed a good night’s sleep, a silent air conditioner, a powerful hot shower, and honesty bar fridge, tea and coffee station and so on. Dinner was home cooked and very pleasant and tasty, with a delicious South African style Malva pudding and ice cream. Breakfast was a good wholesome one, fairly basic cereals, a watermelon and yoghurt starter, and eggs either fried or scrambled, with bacon and tomato and toast. Good coffee.
This is not for anyone wanting luxury, but it is a lovely farm stay, and a perfect overnight en route to where-ever you are going.
The friendliness and service is excellent!

This is an awesome guest farm for overnight stay with the option of dinner and breakfast. So clean, comfortable, welcoming and homely, as well as very efficiently run. The owner was so hospitable and even invited our 5 and 7 year olds to feed the lambs and look at and touch their dog's new born puppies. We recommend it highly.

We stayed here both on our way from Port Elizabeth to the Limpopo River and on our return home. Aside from the friendly service by the owner and staff, the suppers we enjoyed were superb; typical old-school roasts, etc.

Definitely a place to re-visit again!

Check in was effortless and friendly. Shelton ( and Zulu very friendly dog) came and checked that all was well. The room was very comfortable and clean. The evening diner was superb 😋 not what we had expected from a place so far from civilization. The quiet and tranquility.was absolutely amazing. Highly recommended and would definitely visit again. Thanks Shelton and Martinette.

The most beautiful rooms, brilliant service and absolute amazing traditional food. Worth every sent ever spend on accommodation at Kuilfontein. We have been staying at this guest farm every year for the past five years and have never been disappointed. Sandra, the owner is a born hospitality services provider. The rooms are absolutely stunning, but most of all extremely comfortable. The dinner menu has not changed much in the past years, but why change and absolute winner? The prices are reasonable and the rooms and dinner absolute value for money. The fact that this accommodation is animal friendly is also outstanding. If I am travelling with my ageing Mother, the bathroom accessibility, especially the shower that should not be inside a bath, is of the utmost importance. Sandra always takes this into consideration. We prefer to be served our dinner in the rooms so that my Yorkshire terrier, Alexander, don’t disturbed other dinners, this has never been a problem for Sandra and her excellent team. The traditional South African / Karoo dinners are legendary and can be served in any fine dining restaurant in the world. This hospitality is legendary and serve as an example as to how South Africans has always treats guests. It is the perfect stop over between Cape Town and Gauteng / Limpopo. Kuilfontein is a true jewel and a leader with regards to hospitality.

We stayed nearby at a farm and the owners recommended the farm stall as a good place to eat lunch and have coffee.
We did exactly that and it is to be highly recommended. If you're travelling between Colesberg and Bloemfontein then this is the perfect place to stop for a break. The roads here are pretty desolate so it's heartening to find somewhere to grab a bite to eat, coffee and stretch your legs. Mark it in your GPS.

This is an excellent stop-over between Johannesburg and the Eastern Cape Coast just off the N1 but with no traffic noise. Being winter the temperature was very cold but Sandra had the heater on in our room when we arrived and the electric blanket made the bed cosy. Guests are invited to the lounge for a pre-dinner drink (or two!) where there is a roaring fire to welcome you. Hearty meals are served in the dining room or in your room. Pets are welcome which is a big plus for us. The beds are fairly comfortable and the bathrooms very adequate. We stopped off both going down and coming back and Sandra treated us like old friends on our return. The Farm Stall is well worth a visit.
