On my arrival I was given an option to choose from two rooms, of which I chose room 9. This in my opinion is among the most modern rooms they have on the property. One has the view of the garden and swimming pool. You can see everything that happens outside your room but nobody can see inside your room.

The food is absolutely devine, master chef quality and quantity is king-size, so I wouldn't recommend you go there if you're on a diet.

The environment is definitely for those who just want peace and quiet.

Gerda is like that white mother I never had, and Deon always calls me son, even though we only just met...Eish! My white parents...
The rest of the staff is shy but on the ball with anything you ever ask them.

One of the most homely experiences at a guest house to date. Hospitality exceeds expectations. The hostess and host really make an effort to make you feel safe and sound. Great service and hospitality like you've never experienced before. All in all a great experience.

This is definitely the best guest house in Carletonville. The rooms are lovely and the setting very tranquil. The gardens are beautiful and the rooms are spotless. We will definitely be returning and it will be our place to stay whenever we travel to Carletonville.

Stayed 3 nights here for work. Room cozy and comfortable and very beautifully decorated! Very clean as well . Sufficient supply of plugs including 2 pin points!

The entire property is beautiful and artsy .... the landscaping in the garden... perfect

There is a small gym that came in very handy 💪

The food was delicious! We'd requested salad for lunch packs ,It was awesome 👌10/10

My only drawback was the owner(I assumed she's the owner?) who also served us during breakfast and dinner.... she's super friendly but can be very chatty and has some strong political opinions and negative outlook on our country...I understand it is human nature to vent when frustrated but not at a dinner table with guests please?

My recent experience at the Onze Whonen left me feeling utterly disappointed and unwelcome. As someone popping in to see a colleague for just an hour or two upon arriving in town, I anticipated a basic level of courtesy and hospitality. However, what I encountered was quite the opposite.

I was greeted with suspicion and skepticism by "the owner of the the establishment as she had put it". Despite explaining my purpose for the brief visit to see colleague, I was met with a cold reception that made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a potential guest. The lack of warmth and hospitality was palpable from the moment she said "Hi". I would have understood if I was wrong, eg maybe I entered the rooms in this case we where sitting outside catching up enjoying a cold beer. Noise level was very low as I knew I was booked in.

Moreover, the rigid and unwelcoming policies regarding visitors only added to my discomfort. Instead of being greeted with a friendly smile and etc, I was subjected to a barrage of questions and treated as though I was violating some unwritten rule and said "She will call the police as if I wasn't already leaving & saying what if there was a small girl or something was to miss" It's sad to have people judge you because of your skin color and insinuating nonsense. I choose to keep my peace before things to escalated, It just disheartening to be made to feel unwelcome in a place that should prioritize guest satisfaction, comfort and worse I felt racially profiled. I understand that all establishments have rules but those rules mustn't make you not know how to treat other people.

Overall, my short encounter with the owner of the "Onze Whonen" left much to be desired. The lack of hospitality, unwelcoming atmosphere, and rigid policies regarding visitors made for a disheartening experience. I would caution anyone considering a stay at this accommodation to be prepared for a less-than-welcoming reception that fails to prioritize guest comfort and satisfaction.

If you ever happen to end up in Carletonville, two things can happen... Either you are lost, or you are there for business for a couple of weeks. For me, I was there for 9 months for work!!! tannie Gerda and oom Deon really go out of their way to make you feel right at home, so much so, that after 9 months they became my second family and my second home. Everything was on point, from a lovely room to a proper breakfast and even a nice warm cooked meal in the evening (just like mum used to make when we were small). They will even go out of their way to cater for vegetarians and vegans (I met a vegetarian there while I was staying there). Thank you very much for everything you did for me and making sure i was comfertable.

If you are staying in Carletonville you are very likely to be there for work and just as likely to be travelling solo. Onze Wohnen makes you feel very much at home without being too pushy. Gerda makes everyone feel welcome and takes all requests from guests very seriously. She goes out of her way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you prefer to hang out by yourself she does not make an issue out of that either. Highly recommended.
