A lovely self catering place! Purposefully designed. The decor can be improved, but it has all the elements it should have!

There is no shower, which is a let down.

The place is neat and clean

The bed matress is not good enough; must be of better quality!!

My daughter and I stayed in this wonderful little cottage, and loved it! One bedroom with comfortable double bed, a spacious bathroom and sleeper couch in the open-plan kitchen/diner/sitting area. Kitchen furnished with basics needed for a self-catering stay. Interesting utensils in kitchen like old fashioned enamel jugs and basin. Door from bedroom opening onto private little patio with barbeque area (fridge in kithen big enough to keep all you're need for a couple of meals). Front door opening onto central courtyard with long, narrow pool ideal for laps. Safe parking off street. Most amazing Pepper Tree in front of house. Garden small but a delightful well manicured oases, especially if like us, you chose to take the longer, gravel road to Nieu Bethesda. (Don't be put off by that 'gravel' word, the road surface is remarkebly smooth. We were rewarded for our choice by seeing not one, but three huge mountain tortoises. Keep an eye open for them if you travel in December, as that's their mating season.) Complimentary coffee/tea and rusks were welcome and the fresh milk was a bonus. There is a small gift shop attached to the house and run by the owner, but it was closed on the day we stayed over (Sunday). I do recommend this sweet cottage for an overnight stay. Read up about fhe town beforehand. Too much to see and do for a day...stay two.

What a pleasant surprise visiting this quaint place. We were welcomed by Casper who also gave us some usefull info on the town. The room was well appointed, and a kitchen/living area that has everything that a traveller could wish for- event braai spice if you forgot yours! Outside is a small patio with barbeque and umbrella to relax I under. Even a small lappool to drench the heat! Would definitely stay there again!

We had the pleasure of staying in this great spot for a night. The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly! The room was well equipped and clean and comfortable. We were even brought hot water in the morning a power failure had caused the town to not have electricity. Walking distance from everywhere

Where time has stood still.!! Fascinating place with some very interesting people living there - very arty! Ate at The Red Ibis which is excellent. Fossil tour is wonderful - will never look at a river bed again in the same eyes.

We stayed just one night in this beautiful guest house. The country decor in the rooms (we had two rooms) was something to love, very tastefully done.

The units had all you needed to prepare a meal but we went to a restaurant for supper.

The best of the experience was waking up at about 6.30 the next morning and listening tot he country sounds: doves, dogs barking in the distance and the absolute absence of any city noises. Pure bliss.

Really good value for money. Neat rooms and friendly reception. Everything we needed to relax. Beautifull Karoo town worth a visit, even with the gravel road detour. Would recommend to all as great stop over between Gauteng and the Southern Cape

It was my second time at And the Cow Jumped Over The Moon, and it was as great a stay as the previous time. The hosts are very friendly and welcomed us to beautifully decorated self catering units. If it wasn't for the weather, we would have had a great braai. The place is cozy and we slept like babies. Thank you, we had a super stay!

You will not be disappointed. The reception is friendly, the facilities is more than what you need to comfortably cater for yourself, off-street parking…I cannot wait to go back to “The Cow Jumped Over The Moon”. If you plan to visit in winter time – be sure to remember your scarfs. In summers you can cool down in the courtyard pool.
