The Bushman Heritage Center and Bethesda Tower with it's exquisite art created by talented local people who also run the hotel and centre, is an incredible experience. The sheer determination and care to create such marvelous images of the |XAM Mythology is awe inspiring.

The accommodation is quirky, clean and lovely with a wonderful view from the top of the tower. The magnificent "Son of the Wind" Tapestry in the dining room sets the scene for a splendid dining experience. The meals in the restaurant are outstanding! Karoo Lamb is the speciality and the chef brings out the delicious flavours. The hospitality of the incredibly friendly staff was really appreciated. We loved our stay.

Nieu Bethesda remains a hidden gem on the way to Graaf Reinet. It is a bit of a side trip but so worth it, and staying at Bethesda Tower makes it even more magical. This unique spot is perfect to explore the town's beauty and amenities from. The staff are delightful and very efficient, the food offered by the restaurant is great, the room we had at the top of the tower was awesome, and the tour of the Bushman Heritage Center connected to the property was very worthwhile, presenting a very informative history of the local indigenous people, along with a stunning collection of large-scale artwork that puts a proud, modern twist on the traditional stories and cosmology of these fascinating people. There are also beautiful souvenirs for sale at the gift shop. Highly recommended.

We had the top Tower room. The room was clean and comfortable. We had superb views of Nieu Bethesda. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They spoke good English and when we had our meals at the restaurant the service was fast and efficient, the food well prepared and tasty. The Litho prints and applique work on sale there are excellent and well priced.

I always try to see the bright side of things and I hate to complain, but I feel a review is important! Our stay was absolutely ridiculous and horrendous!!!

If you are a person who considers the people on a below floor or you or do not sleep in one position, please beware you can't move else it sounds as if the whole floor is going to collapse. Even the bed. It is soooo noisy even if you move a centimeter. There was holes in my bedding and it was so thin you could clearly see the patterns on the mattress. Also the bedding felt old, full of bubbles, uneven and dirty. The plugs in the room didn't work and the lights kept on flickering - just had to sleep or your eyes will hurt. The shower was blocked and there wasn't even space to put your clean clothes, towel and toiletries. There was old blood drops on the floor. There was no toilet paper. The coffee and tea station cannot even be called that. It is Corona time but you have to search through things with your hands and it was very bad in taste. Also no milk. They advertise wifi facilities but the code was nowhere to be found and not even the staff could help me with the password.

The breakfast was a total rip-off and actually not eat-able. And soooo small !! I could have eaten TWO breakfasts or an entire buffet at another establishment for that price and it would have been delicious!

This place looks very cute when you browse for accommodation in the area, but it was very disappointing and a waste of time and money. Now we have to proceed with our lengthy trip with no sleep behind us.
Friendly people but very VERY bad experience and that considering all the other options in this tourism driven town!

Being a guest house owner myself I do not like to bash any establishment. Bethesda Tower is very basic accommodation with a shared bathroom facility. The accommodation was very neat and the staff extremely friendly and helpful, unfortunately in this day and age guests prefer not to share a bathroom. The stairs to the rooms can also be a potential challenge for older guests.

Dear HeksseHuis, Thanks for sharing your experience. We are looking into ways of making our accommodation en-suite and accessible for older people, as we understand that it can be really uncomfortable. Thanks for pointing this out. Kind regards, Bethesda Tower

I do not regret staying here - it is a beautiful place to stay in an enchanting little town - but there were some points which caused frustration. Probably most notable was the restaurant right outside the window which made for awkward trips to the bathroom and a late night. The showers were also very small and without doors or curtains, leaving the floors wet. A curtain on the large, high window in the bedroom would also have been greatly appreciated as the room filled and made it impossible to sleep at about 6am.

Our short stay at the Bethesda Tower at the Bethesda Art Centre was out of this world! What a privilege to be sleeping under such important art work and sharing space and time with such important and talented artists. Everybody we encountered was conversant with the purpose of the establishment and its role in the community. Nobody was servile. This was like a stay with Family! If you want your trip to Nieu Bethesda to make a meaningful contribution to community development - Stay at Bethesda Tower.

Easy and convenient spot to spend the night in Nieu Bethesda. Staff were friendly and check-in was easy. The rooms are conveniently located in town, wifi is good. The rooms were small but clean. Shared bathrooms were also clean, though more hooks/hanging space could be made available.

Wonderful, peaceful surroundings. ....who could dream of staying in a heritage museum! We appreciated the warm welcome from Martin.
The round bed was lovely and comfortable, the room was neat and clean and so was the shared bathroom. The staircase leading up the tower was almost fairytale-like. It was great having a 'tea room' adjacent to our bedroom.
We enjoyed a hearty breakfast prepared by Felicity and Yvonne, who took great care to enlighten us on their beautiful sewing work and to make sure we were comfortable and happy.
Over nighting at Bethesda Tower was a very novel experience, but one we'll always remember.

Very basic accommodation which was fine for the price. Having a a shared bathroom is definitely an issue in the Covid. But problem came when both mornings we where told breakfast was a 8am, but no staff had even turned up by 8:30 on Saturday so we had to pay for breakfast elsewhere which was not good at all.
