Thanks to Thyme & Again for giving us excellent accommodation for Saturday night. The luxury rooms are flawless. Will definitely stay here again in the near future. Cosy rooms with excellent furnishings.

On the positive side, Thyme and Again is clean, serves a good breakfast, and provides space heaters in the rooms. The family rooms are large. On the other hand, we did not receive the service we expect from a B&B. Staff were very hard to find, so we ended up searching out supplies to stock our bathroom (there was no soap, shampoo, etc.) and the kitchen is poorly equipped. It is also noisy - in the main house the street noise is a problem while in the back the train wakes you. There are evidently better rooms (the cabins that the owners built) but they don't put families in them.If you need overnight accommodation near the N3 it is an OK place to stay, but I don't recommend it as a base for exploring Drakensburg.

Had an opportunity to overnight in Estcourt at Thyme and Again guesthouse. The webpage looked very inviting, so I booked. Met on arrival by the owner who was pleasant. When I enquired about dinner I was told they "don't have much call for this, so don't have staff to cater!" Escourt has but a Wimpy and Nandos, so we landed up at the Estcourt Golf Club for a bar supper! Then the house is meters from a railway line and trains thunder past at all hours. Little sleep that night! Breakfast was no better...had a choice of 4 options, barely passing for breakfast. No filter coffee as the machine was broken! Appalling. No apologies...nothing. In fact we never saw Mr Schaub again? Certainly will not visit there again!

A nice b&b with a lovely breakfast area. The service was superb. The room itself was ok, but with towels that is too small and uncomfortable carpet in front of bed. I do think that the cottages would be the ideal rooms to stay in. Bad wifi reception.

Just spent one night on my way north from Durban - perfect stop over place. While the road into Escourt is not the prettiest, this B&B is a little oasis. My room was around a small garden with seating. Room was just fine. Service was excellent, I ate dinner and breakfast in the Coffee Shop (an old settler home) - good plentiful food. Staff and owners very friendly.

Never did I think I would unearth such a gem in a tiny place like Escourt. Located in one of the main streets in this little town , I must admit that at first when I saw it my thought was"OMG what have I done....but boy was I pleasantly surprised when I got in. We where greeted by one of the ladies there and immediately taken to see our rooms. No waiting....I saw these wooden cottages & thought I wonder what I'll find. I took the first room they opened & lo & behold my favorite colour ...Purple. A beautifully made up room with stylish decor, a tiny kitchen area & a lovely bathroom with a shower awaited me. I was impressed & it takes a lot to impress me. First thought was to open the wardrobe & an iron+ ironing board was in there which you rarely find...most places you have to request that they give you one( found out all the rooms have them). My bed was so comfortable I immediately wanted to take a nap. Going to take a shower was heaven coz there was so much room in there. Dinner was served in the dining room which is also a coffee shop during the day. Dinner was a set menu with wholesome home cooking & a dessert that left my taste buds tingling. This place is great for families as well & they went as far as put up a play area for the kids which I found wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone stopping over on their way to Durban or visiting Escourt. Loved everything about it though the dining room could get a bit cramped if there are lots of people. Besides that I enjoyed my stay & would definitely stay there again.

+1
We spent the weekend at Thyme & Again on the weekend of the 15th of March 2014. Wow, what a lovely little place. The place is neat, well looked after and very welcoming. The owners of the place, they are such wonderful beings. I definitely would consider sleeping there again on my way to durban.
Yes, there is noise from the trucks off the freeway, but there is absolutely nothing the owners can do about that, or the trains. Fact is, this is small town and there isn't much happening here. If you are expecting more than what you can find here, go to Ladysmith or Maritzburg.
Otherwise, we loved our two nights here. It's worth every penny, well not much pennies considering it's not expensive at all. Value for your money.

"Ask for the cottages as those are the ones I saw. They have room inside the main house as well for those wanting to share as well as single rooms with three quarter beds for those on a tight budget. There's dstv, a microwave, fridge & a fan in every room."Read full review
