Nestled within Amboseli National Park, Ol Tukai Lodge is celebrated for its prime location, offering stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and close encounters with wildlife, a feature that delights many travelers. Guests consistently commend the cleanliness of both rooms and grounds. While the rooms earn praise for their comfort and views, a few visitors mention they could benefit from modernization and improved pest control. The lodge's service is generally well-regarded, recognized for staff friendliness and helpfulness, despite occasional hiccups. Patrons appreciate the unique 'Out of Africa' atmosphere, and while amenities are appreciated, some suggest a refresh could enhance the experience. Overall, the lodge is seen as providing good value for the safari experience it offers.

We loved each and everything about the hotel. From the entrance where the security guard checks each and everybody's temperature and sanitizes everyone, to the porters who sanitize our bags and help us with the luggage, to the check-in process, duration of stay up until check-out. The location is superb and not very far from the Kimana gate. The rooms were quite spacious, especially the bathroom. The location is ideal for hundreds of species of birds, and if you are into bird photography, like me, you have to do the Bird walk! Staff were excellent, especially Peter in Service, Joshua in Service, Moses on the Bird walk, Erick from housekeeping and Joseph from the Reception.
However, there was just one down side, we got attacked by baboons in the room, so make sure you always keep your door locked at all times.
All in all, Wonderful place!

When I arrived in Amboseli the first thought was Hemingway's book "The Snows of Kilimanjaro". I thought it was fantastic to have this Lodge built in this place, so you could always watch Kilimanjaro. Very nice location, which covers a fairly large area. Beautiful rooms, the bed in the evening is prepared with canopy, so you are not surprised to enter any mosquito or fly. There is a kettle in the room for water, coffee and tea. There is also a safe. The restaurant serves buffet meals, and in compliance with COVID rules (respectively the showcase). In the evening there is a campfire and a traditional show with music and dance. The pool is quite large and gives you a beautiful view of the landscape of Amboseli.

This was the perfect place to stay in Amboseli in Covid 19 period. After 5 months of strictly staying at home due to the pandemic, we wanted a relaxing break. We chose to stay at Ol tukai and we are glad we did, not only is the hotel at the heart of Amboseli surrounded by elephants but they reassured us of the safety security we were looking for. Prior to arrival they sent us Covid19 guide and measures. All the staff were on masks for the entire 3 days we were there, even after two hours of game drive, our very informative guide Moses did not dare take out his mask. At the restaurant we always had sufficient space from other guests and the staff too were friendly and adhered to the guide. There were numerous sanitizers'stations around the hotel and guests were constantly reminded to sanitize. My only recommendation to the hotel is that they should also insist that all guests have masks while in common areas. It was generally a pleasant stay and we recommend the hotel to others who might be interested.

We had a great visit, amazing staff, food and view. Very disappointed in Francis, Joseph and Kenneth. We booked our one night online for five adults and four children. We called ahead (before our trip) of time to make sure that we had accommodation for all and that what we had paid for was the correct amount. This was confirmed. This was also confirmed on arrival and on departure. Weeks later after our very nice visit we got a call(s) and emails letting us know that we owed and that we needed to pay. This is very disappointing because we confirmed on arrival and on departure that all the costs were completed and covered. We travel a lot and have never had such an experience. Furthermore, we would never ever stay at a place without paying what we owe upon arrival and on departure. They continue to harass and ask for money to be wired to them without even knowing if this is true and also weeks after we left the place and confirmed that all of the people we came with were catered for. I pride myself in promoting my country and the hard work people do to and for others but please beware of these three men and the con work they are doing. I am extremely disappointed in this kind of customer service and it has really left a bad impression to us. Please work on your customer service (the three men), stop harassing customers way after their stay and learn to be open with your communication from the get go. Do not fill out any secure forms they claim to have to send money to and confirm if you can triple confirm your accommodation fees because they will harass you way after your stay to remit monies to them. Other than that the food was delicious and amazing, staff on the ground were amazing and super nice and the rooms were great. Just do not fall for this trap of fees with these three guys.

Dear Ann Greetings from Oltukai lodge Amboseli and its was such a great pleasure to host you with your family at the lodge Am writing to address your accusation of saying that the staff at the lodge and head office tried to corn you, which is not correct and it is not right at all to tarnish other people's names for something that never happened. Your initial booking was for 2 people only Ksh 22,000 per person to make it a total of Ksh 44,000 which you booked through our website. But you checked in 3 adults and 4 children (total 7 Pax), on which the room rate increased due to the increase in the number of pax check-in. The reception team comes to realize it when you had already left and our head office was already closed for Christmas. we realized it when we were finalizing the bookings payments. And since it was the festive seasons the lodge was busy and all our staffs were also fully occupied trying to attend to all the guests equally. And after we were trying to contact you through your sister number and we even wrote you a personal email and explain to you all this, you started accusing us of corning you. As Oltukai Lodge we make sure we give our best to all our guest who visits us and we have never had any issue of corning any guest who visits us. The mistake happened on both ends but instead of handling it's in a good way and more professional, you went ahead and said we try to corn you, which we didn't not. Thank you soo much.

The last time I stayed at this lodge was March, 2014. This was my third stay. It remains my favorite when visiting Amboseli National Park. It is a larger lodge so not quite the intimate feel of the tented camps. While I was there, a large Governor’s conference was also on the grounds. Many friendly attendees.

I stayed in the Elephant Wing again which overlooks the savanna where the elephants can come quite close. The other side has mountain views of Mount Kilimanjaro if the mountain is awake. The rooms are nice with plenty of space. The beds are extremely comfortable. At night, they pull mosquito nets around the bed. There are plenty of charging stations around the room as well as more than adequate lighting. The shower in the bathroom has a ‘window’ to the world but don’t worry, only the monkeys can see you. They have a switch to turn on the hot water during your stay and there certainly was plenty of it. Do be mindful of making sure your door is shut and locked while out, or you will have visitors to your room (cheeky monkeys or baboons). Free, fast wi-fi is also available in the room even though their guest information says it is not.

Meals are served buffet style which I like because you can pick the amount of food you wish. There are many items to choose from. My favorites were the salads and desserts. They never disappoint. I did try a box breakfast on one of my days. I chose it because of limited time at the park. There was plenty of food but I have to admit, cold bacon or sausage isn’t my favorite. The fresh fruit, juice, hard boiled eggs were very good.

My thanks to the many friendly staff who made my stay so nice. Special thanks to Ruth in Guest Relations who assisted me when something unexpected happened to me during my stay.

Although my stay was only 2 nights, wildlife sightings were great, especially the elephants. I got to see Ulrica, the matriarch of the UA group who is now 58 years old. I also was able to photograph Mount Kilimanjaro with elephants in the foreground which is always special.

Wow! Our favourite lodge by far whilst on Safari.
Room was spotless with a huge shower with a massive window looking outside ( totally private ) whilst in the shower I saw monkeys!
Staff super friendly. Room turned down each evening.
The view of all the animals was super, especially the elephants. Unfortunately we didn’t see Kilimanjaro as the clouds weren’t being kind.
We squeezed in a massage whilst there which was good value for money compared to costs in U.K.
seating area outside our mountain view room overlooking the animals.
Food was good quality with the most choices out of all the lodges we stayed at. Totally faultless.

My wife and I stayed at Ol Tukai Lodge during the first half of our safari in early September, 2020 and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff wore face masks for COVID precautions, the service was good, all meals were very delicious, and our room was comfortable with a great view of the park. We could regularly see zebra, wildebeast, warthog, elephants, and antelopes from our room. Word of advice, be aware of the baboons and monkeys. They will try to take any loose objects you're carrying or food on your plate if you walk away. Very important to lock your room at all times as well, the baboons seem fearless. The lodge does have a Masaai warrior present to help keep the baboons away.

Ol Tukai lodge is well situated for exploring the park. There is a large buffet offering something for everyone at all meals. The cocktails in the open air bar were some of the best I had on this trip and also the most reasonable and it was lovely to have lunch outside overlooking the elephants. As experienced at another lodge a "single" room here is one with two twin beds which I find a bit odd.

Ol Tukai is a wonderful safari lodge right in the middle of Amboseli Reserve. The check-in process was smooth with the friendly staff taking care of us personally. The lunch, breakfast and dinner menus were fantastic. Even for a vegetarian person like me, there were enough options to choose from. The chef was friendly and enquired about our special requests and preferences. Josephine took care of us at all meals. She was smiling, friendly and very helpful.

The room / cottage was also very good. Cleanliness and hygiene was fantastic. All our needs were taken care of.

The location of the lodge is such that it has fencing around its properties and the animals are right outside the fence. Zebras, wildebeest and wild buffaloes are your constant companions! Its a great feeling.

To top it all is the fantastic view of Mount Kilimanjaro! Weather permitting, the view is fantastic. We were worried as the first day there was cloud cover and we had no view. But the skies cleared the next day and it was majestic!

Overall a fantastic experience! Enjoyable and meorable.

One small tip is to have few extra water bottles of drinking water if you need. The hotel provides 2 big bottles a day but extras are chargeable.

I stayed here three nights as part of a 7 week safari to East Africa. This is a very nice lodge that I would recommend.

The property itself is in a nice part of Amboseli. You are really close to some of the prime game viewing locations. There are baboons and vervet monkey all over the property so even when you are not out on a game drive you can see animals.

The rooms are in bungalows situated around the property with two rooms per bungalow. The rooms themselves are well laid out with desk, separate inside sitting area and small outside porch as well. The bathroom has a walk in shower with good water pressure. The bedding was comfortable.

The common areas were spacious, well designed and well maintained. Even though this is a large lodge things never felt cramped or over crowded.

Like most large lodges, meals are buffet style. The food was very good and there were plenty of choices. The wait staff was quick with drink orders and always friendly. We did two bush breakfasts and found those to be good as well.

Overall, a nice place that I would recommend.

Dear Guest, Hi, The month of May the temperatures usually range from 28 degrees on the high to about 18 degrees on the low. Therefore I'd say on average the temperature would be around 23 degrees. The weather is quite enjoyable in this time of the year. Yes ! May is relatively a low season however, the factor on whether or not the hotel will be crowded is dependent on the number of bookings we have on the said dates. Thank you we look forward to hosting you.
