Tides is a unique, self catering riverside lodge with four separate houses all fully equipped, all have verandahs, braai areas and wonderful river views. . A great family destination with safe swimming right on the doorstep. De Hoop Nature Reserve is 14kms away, a Pub is just down the road, a winery 5 minutes away. There is great birdwatching with over 300 species spotted,bring your own boat, canoe, kayak or just chill out on our lawns. No shoes required.

The Breede River is a wonderful wide and powerful river. It has big fish and even river sharks, as well as super boating and a peaceful getaway. Tides is a very comfortable well equipped location with all the facilities you could want and more.

Very enjoyable. Tranquility at it’s best. Cozy fireplace, exceed expectations. Service by friendly staff, with sunset over the Bree River. The perfect place to explore the area along the river, and to accommodate large groups comfortable, ie family or with friends.

The lodge was a pleasant surprise, and we wish we could have spent another 2 days there. The cleanliness and provision of facilities and amenities was impressive. Our 1 night stay was inadequate, and we missed out on many of the great experiences on offer. The road in from the main road needed a bit more grading.

Perfect location along the river for young kids as the beautiful lawns going onto the water means they can enjoy the river by wading in. Accommodation was comfortable, clean and neat with everything you need. Great value for money. We had a wonderful stay and loved it so much we stayed an extra night! Will definitely be back.

It is a peaceful clean place . The lawn and garden was well maintained. Daniel the caretaker was very professional. The soap holder in shower of the Boathouse however needs a upgrade .We can recommend this accommodation anytime .

Beautiful accommodation and the perfect spot for swimming in the river and some fishing. The gravel road leading to Malgas is quite long, but not too bad. Just a suggestion : Some steak knives needs to be added - it was quite a challenge when it came to our steak dinner 😊 The place is perfect for kids!

Our weekend at Tides River Lodge was just what we needed after our second lock down. A little slice of heaven on the banks of the Breede River. Accommodation was great, service fantastic and the little extras like the hot tub were just what we needed. I could have stayed a week and will definitely be back.

We only visited for one night but loved the view, facilities, star gazing and river. Will definitely come back. Thank you to the staff who looked after us! Lovely location. Great for families with kayaks.

Great self catering accommodation in lovely grounds right on the bank of the Breede River. Very comfortable and well equipped cottage, friendly and helpful on site manager. A lovely quiet and peaceful spot only about 30 mins drive off the N2. Highly recommended.

Back in March we booked a stay at Tides River Lodge during our trip in South Africa. As you can imagine due to Covid-19, everything got complicated extremely fast. Due to country regulations in Switzerland, we had to cancel our second week of vacation in South Africa in order to return to Switzerland. Tides River Lodge not only acted extremely unprofessional but also absolutely inflexible in times like this. They praised a zero-cancellation fee, and I'm now still waiting for a refund after several emails and phone calls which were not answered. Please find below an extract of our conversation, which shows how Tides River communicates with their guests after having several emails unanswered: "Hi, In case you havent noticed we are in the middle of a serious lockdown and all businesses are closed. I have repeatedly sent messages saying we are giving all our guests a credit for a future booking at a time of your choice. Your rudeness is not appreciated." In todays world, flexibility is needed, especially in the tourism industry and it's a shame to see that such a beautiful lodge can't come after their promises.…

After being harrassed, continuosly phoned and email (in a time when we were in lockdown stage 5) our Guest then threatened us saying "if you dont refund me I will write a daming review on Trip Advisor. Surely this is not the purpose of Trip Advisor to use it as blackmail. We offered all our Guests a credit for a future booking of their choice with no time limit. All were happy. To go to these lengths, including lying to the credit card company to force a charge back seems out of proportion to the value of the booking, 45 euros! A refund would have been eaten into by bank charges.
