we spent two nights at Serenity. the place is lovely. our chalet was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with a very well-equipped kitchen, our own braai pit and veranda with a view of the lagoon on the other side of the communal garden. the chalet was cleaned daily. the garden opens out directly onto the beach. villa NBanga bar and restaurant are a 15min walk away along the beach, but otherwise bring all your own food and drink. the owners live on site and are very friendly. they picked us up in their 4x4 (since our car was not 4x4) for the 20min dirt track from Bilene town. the pool is lovely, and there were hammocks and lounge chairs. no downsides. couldn't have been better.

The Accomodation was fantastic and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We went during a very low time, which was nice to skip the crowds. However, I wish it was a bit busier as we were one of 4 couples in the whole town it seemed!

Serenity was an Awesome peaceful 2 night stay for us. The self catering Chalets are fully equipped and beautifully furnished.
Obviously the scenery of the dam and surrounding hills are breathtaking!
You do need a 4x4 vehicle to reach Serenity as the sandy roads can get tricky.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, we will definitely visit Serenity again.

We stayed at Serenity for two nights. The accomodations and the staff were wonderful and the location and scenery were spectacular. The name is perfect - it is a very quiet and relaxing place. The entire staff at Serenity work very hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We enjoyed it very much, highly recommend it and will likely return.

You definitely need 4WD to get there on the sand trail, but it is well marked and not terribly difficult to find. There are two spots where you cross streams over cement pipes. I suggest bringing a shovel in case you need to bury the pipes with sand a little before driving over them to avoid damage to your car. We hit a little hard on the way there, but on the way back someone had buried the pipe better and we crossed easily.

A very pleasant surprise for a previous Bilene visitor. This part of Bilene was totally unknown for me as I usually stay in the main town. I now realize what I have been missing all these years! The place is truly peaceful and the staff very pleasant. We had a relaxing time around the garden and pool and also managed to go for an adventurous off-road drive to enjoy the surrounding sights. The drive from the main town to Serenity offers plenty of great picture opportunities with rolling hills and lagoon views. The location misses out on the 5 stars just because the beach right in front of the property does not have a clear sandy bottom (but this is outside the management's control). The service misses out on the five stars because toiletries and dish washing liquid are fully the responsibilitiy of the guest and this was not entirely obvious at booking time.

Serenity is absolutely true to it's name - the perfect place to unwind and relax. This has been our first trip to Mozambique and will definitely be the first of many! The units at Serenity are exceptionally well equiped and very comfortable - not that we spent too much time indoors! The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are spotless. The lodge was easy to locate, thanks to the detailed directions. We managed fine with a 2x4 (with a little help from our friends), but 4x4 recommended, especially if you would like to explore the surrounds.

Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

We spent 8 wonderful days at Serenity, which is a small holiday resort (only five units) located close enough to the bars and restaurants around Nhabanha Village, but far enough away to get a bit of peace and quiet if you want it!

Serenity is superbly maintained by Stan, Nito and their staff, which makes it a pleasure staying there, knowing that every reasonable request will be acted on. Will definitely go back!

We arrived very late 23:30 and the staff went out of their way to assist us booking in.
The unit we stayed in was 400 meters from the beach. I am unsure of how many units there are but the estate is fenced in with large lawns between the units.

Our unit is a self catering, 2 bedroom with ensuite bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and veranda.

The kitchen was clean, well equipped with all utensils. There was a fridge as well as a large chest freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and gas stove. All the cutlery is in good condition and complete. There are also glasses to drink from.!

There are a/c but there are also fans and mosquito nets which is more than adequate.

The beds were queen size, the linen clean and comfortable.

The bathroom have showers and are completely tiled.

The TV room has a 32” flat screen with limited DSTV channels which is fine as we should all enjoy the beach and outdoor.

Although we only stayed one night we still enjoyed it and will definitely return. We paid R400 per person which in my opinion is a bargain.

The only letdown I suppose is the fact that vehicles drive on the beaches to reach other lodges. This might be a concern for children. This is not specific to Serenity but to the whole area as well...

The lagoon is perfect turquoise water with very small waves! Children’s dream!

Serenity does not have a restaurant or a pub however there are many close..

We all enjoyed the short stay!

We (a couple and a baby) booked Serenity lodge for a few days end of January/16 and loved the place as soon as we arrived, and had a great time on our first day.
Unfortunately our little girl was bitten by an insect (we later found out it was flea, yes flea) and caused an allergic reaction on the eye and we had to return to Maputo early evening of the second night. she had mosquito repellent and mosquito net when this happened.
Once we got the emergency medical assistance we contacted Stan Westman and explained that we had to live in an emergency and asked for refund or other solution.

The received reply was we can only offer discount on your next stay. They didn't try to find out what happened, what was wrong, nothing.
On top of that, we had to wash the travel cot and the mattress since we found fleas (pulga) on the mattress as well. And yes it came from Serenity, we travel quiet often with the cot and never had a problem.

So the place is great but terrible support in an emergency, so of course we are not going back nor recommend to other families.

Dalila,I am truly sorry to hear about this incident and the suffering of your child. I am afraid the fleas must have come in with the cot as we would have known about the alleged fleas, if any, as they would also have been in your bed. Our lodge is full almost every weekend and in 6 years of accepting guests, this is the first time that anybody has ever complained about being bitten by fleas! After each and every guest stay, our linen, pillow protectors and mattress protectors are washed, even on the unused beds in a house. I can therefore categorically deny the allegations of fleas in our chalets as can be vouched for by all the other guests giving us an excellent review for neatness and cleanliness. We are still willing to give you accommodation for the unused portion of your stay and would welcome you back at Serenity.

Serenity is a well kept place. It's cleaned and looked after in a good way. The owners are also super friendly and accommodating. Would recommend this place to any one, just remember that it is a bit of a drive on bad "roads" so you definitely need a 4x4 to get there.
