We visited Rayavadee back at the end of March 2021, and it was a truly memorable stay. Over four days and three nights we were well-pampered by excellent service with many thoughtful touches, while being surrounded by some of the most stunning natural settings of any resort we’ve ever visited in Thailand. From our arrival/pickup as we were transported by private boat to Rayavadee, the tone was set for a ‘fantasy island’ experience. Rayavadee is a long established property that has been very well maintained and more so than many other places, it truly is a resort that is a destination within itself. With soaring limestone cliffs and three distinctly different but equally dramatic beachfronts, you are hard pressed to find a reason to even leave the resort because there’s so much to be experienced on property, especially for a 3 nights stay like ours. Our two storey Pool Pavilion was elegantly appointed with thoughtful design touches—everything in the selection of materials down to the ‘monkey’ motifs was very evocative of pleasing tropical style. Our room had been recently refurbished and we especially like the thoughtful lighting design. The split-level nature of the pavilion made it feel more like a small villa. Although most of room do not have views of the ocean/beachfront, we honestly felt that this was not an issue. The rooms afford very good privacy and we definitely took advantage of our private pool, especially post-beach time. Rayavadee has achieved a very good balance between laidback and luxury. The resort is fully equipped and yet unpretentious in its services. Due to its many years of operation the staff manage to provide very efficient and welcoming services while also always appearing present and attentive. There are many dining options at Rayavadee and we managed to take in all of them including in-room dining. By far the most memorable was The Grotto, a singularly unique dining experience in a natural seaside cave/grotto that delivered not just in its location, but also in the quality of the fresh seafood and excellent cocktails. Booking in advance is a MUST, don’t expect to get a table on the day. The restaurant is extremely popular and with good reason, so book a table well before you arrive on property. While dinner is certainly the most dramatic, a casual ‘feet-in-sand’ lunch at The Grotto is also highly recommend. If you’re thinking about taking an island excursion and are looking for one that has a local flavour, we’d definitely recommend a Rayavadee organised trip on a Long Tail boat with private guide and lunch etc… The boats are ideal for two to four people and due to their size you can visit many spots that larger boats avoid. Our private guide was provided by Rayavadee and was very knowledgeable and we felt it was a nice change from the usual motor speedboat excursion. Rayavadee has fully established itself as a definite ‘Bucket List’ property. It is not just for couples, the resort is very capable of catering to families and groups although we though the way the resort of divided and with three different beachfront, we never felt inconvenience by family groups. The property is seasoned, but very well maintained and the key thing is the charm that is exuded everywhere. It doesn’t feel dated… its a property that feels well loved and full of life. We give our full recommendation of this property and the wonderful team there. Ultimately the true test of any great stay is whether you’d want to come back. We will definitely return one day.

The room assigned to us has nice decor using bamboo and rattan. During our stay, fruit plate was ready for us everyday. All arrangements (including private tour to Tiger Cave Mountain and to Bamboo island) were almost perfect. We really enjoyed both tour without any time loss (joined tours often suffer other guest's delay) So, I feel really sorry about only one thing.. We made a reservation for dinner at Grotto, on 11th April (18:00PM). But our name was not on the restaurant list so we had to sit very near by entrance & kitchen. The table has no lantern/flower (far from the best table towards sunset). I am little sad because we made the reservation one month in advance plus Ms. Luna reconfirmed at check-in (the food was good). Actually, all 3 restaurants seemed rather compact with less number of tables than I expected. And many children and babies were also there. Maybe room service will be the best choice for us next time. Anyway, we really appreciated and are impressed by late checkout arrangement just to fit our flight schedule (it was "Perfect") on 13th without extra room charge. So we want to get back to the place again very soon. なお、ラヤバディは広大な敷地を丸ごと植物園のように活かしたコンセプトもあり、ホームページには明記されていませんが、浜辺のオモチャ箱一つ取ってもファミリー向けであり低年齢のゲストが多い印象でした。

Dear famimie32, We thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at Rayavadee with others on TripAdvisor. We apologise that your advanced reservation for the Grotto was overlooked. We were experiencing 90% occupancy during the Songkran week and many guests were unable to dine there. However, I'm glad you were able to get a table, although it was not in the cave where you would have preferred it to be, you still got the chance to dine there. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your excursions to Tiger Cave Mountains and Bamboo Island. We hope we will have the chance to welcome you back again in the very near future. Please contact me directly at duty_mgr@rayavadee.com if you would like to make a reservation for the Grotto and I will personally make sure you have a very nice table. Warmest Regards, Susan Young Duty Manager Rayavadee Resort, Krabi

Having recently stayed at the Banyan Tree Krabi, i wanted to check the venerable Rayavadee and see how it stacks up against hotels on the other side of Krabi. I stayed for three nights in a an entry-level Deluxe Pavilion which I find to be extremely spacious and well laid-out, but what really took my breath away were the gorgeous private beaches the hotel has (though there are three, only two are suitable for swimming and lounging - Railay with the dramatic cliffs and main hotel pool, and Phra Nang for the gorgeous beach, water activities and breathtaking sunset), which is definitely why you are here for. Service was sightly choppy as with most Thai hotel brands, but nothing overly horrid. Its friendly, and non intrusive though Six Senses is definitely more low-key, discreet and private with their services and guest interaction. I reserved my room on a local promotion due to current circumstances and found the agent responding my emails to be capable and fast in responding (this hotel has two other sister properties in Chiangmai and all probably share the same back office as my emails for those two hotels were from same agent). Included was airport pick-up which was efficient with friendly service. The boat ride to the hotel from their private pier was definitely a joy, and check-in on arrival at the property was fast. Sidenote, apparently I was in the same ride with some 80’s local celeb and at the hotel, my local friend told me she spotted some other celebs as well - but of course, not being local, i cannot recognize any. They probably thought I was with other people on the boat when we disembarked, so no staff came to ask me for my documents when i was at the lobby seated alone for awhile (staff were tending to other people who came in groups). One staff saw me seated at a chair and after I passed her my passport did she realized I am a single traveler, and she proceeded to have her colleagues attend to me, whom was extremely friendly and professional. The pavilion I stayed in, and most of the accommodation here, were split across two levels. Lower level lies the huge living area with a comfy daybed that can be converted to a bed if needed (saw this in other room), mini bar area (coffee is french press with a gorgeous sustainable coffee from the North, and lots of tea across few varieties from Chaidim) and a toilet. The bedroom with its main bathroom, shower, and bathtub are on the second floor. Due to the low ceiling on the second floor, the shower stall here had no rain shower faucet and comes only with a handheld faucet - though water pressure is strong. This big bathroom on the second floor also comes with double sinks and a huge comfortable soaking tub. A toilet is within this bathroom in its own enclosure with door. Toiletries are created by a local Thai brand ERB and they are beautifully scented. They also have aftercare sun lotion in case you get burned, and a small spray bottle of mosquito repellent. The bedroom has a huge king size bed, and I requested for foam pillows so they probably have a pillow menu available, though there is no list to show what pillow types are available. There is a small TV facing the bed with closets on both sides of the TV - with alot of hangers. To a side of the bedroom facing the windows is a study table. One fault in the bedroom is that they don’t have black-out curtains (only wooden blinds and straw blinds) so the room does get bright when sun raises. There is one thai style power point behind the bed, and another two power points by the dresser outside the bathroom, so charging multiple items can be a chore in the bedroom. Overall, the furnishings and decor are extremely well-maintained, though the TV are of some generic brands and has no Chrome Cast, but one is most probably out at the beach and pool mostly. For F&B options, only two restaurants are available due to current circumstances - The Thai restaurant was closed (pity) but Thai food are still available on a limited scale at the pool-side restaurant. Also open was the famous cave restaurant, the Grotto, where western options like pizzas, pasta and salads are available in addition to seafood BBQ at night (we ordered that for dinner and would recommend sticking to ordering food instead of BBQ). Breakfast is served at the place near check-in lobby and this restaurant only opens for breakfast at this time. The Resort also provides a list of daily activities and tours to outlying islands which you can sign up for. We join a half day trip to chicken island and Koh Poda as we have been to Koh Hong and Phi Phi before recently, and find the hotel service to be very good. The staff were friendly and are all very accommodating. I’d highly recommend anyone to join one of these trips. In the Resort itself, the main pool at Railay is utterly breathtaking and huge. There are also a lot of things for you to do, such as kayaking and stand-up paddle-boarding at the Phra Nang beach side. The staffs tending both the beach station and the pool are absolutely delightful and ultra friendly. There are also daily walks in the evening around 4pm or 5pm for you to check out the best photos spots around the hotel with a staff, which I find entertaining. You can also walk to the adjoining Railay community for local shops but we stayed mainly at the hotel - and felt that 3 nights are too short (especially when you wanna go on day trips to the islands). I prefer the location and the awesome beaches of the Rayavadee over the Banyan Tree Krabi, but service at Banyan Tree is far more superior. And both hotels are totally different - at Rayavadee, you are inside the landscape, whereas at banyan Tree, you look out into Phang Nga bay.

Rayavadee’s Resort is a legend of Krabi province , the location is very good as it is among 3 bays Nammow where we get of from the boat that they pick up us from the port in the cities, Pranang and Railey . You can do many activities according too their schedule , hiking to view point , bat cave , rock climbing, kajak etc . The room has great maintenance , the service is excellent , however the taste of food has to improved nevertheless at Grotto you could not find such a fabulous view in front of you while the table set inside the cave. If your guy has Covid vaccinated then we welcome you back to Thailand to stay in beautiful nature land of smile
