I stayed for two nights for business. The rooms are very comfortable and the linen excellent. The location of the guesthouse is very good and the service is efficient and friendly. I would stay again.
The Palm Boom offers decent sized, well kept and close to the garden rooms. The room was very clean and have everything a business traveller could need. Situated in a quiet side of Ceres with a beautiful view of the mountains you are ensured of a piecefull sleep. Space for a braai or swim is within steps from the rooms. The breakfast was delicious and home made. Thanks for the stay. The Palm Boom is on top of my Ceres list.
My wife and I stayed at the Palmboom Guest House in Ceres over the weekend of 24-26 June 2016. We were looking for a base while we visited the Tulbagh Winter Festival, and we didn’t want something overly expensive, so the Budget Room at Palmboom suited us perfectly. The property on which the units are situated is pretty large, and wonderfully green and tranquil, and there are some lovely views of the mountains. There is a huge communal kitchen which contains pretty much anything that one needs to cook up something, plus there is a communal lounge with a fireplace, with plenty of wood available. Free internet is available as well, but we didn’t have much luck with it as it kept disconnecting. The unit that we stayed in contained a double bed and a mini fridge, with an en-suite bathroom with a shower only, which was perfect for us. The bed was comfortable and was serviced each morning. Tea and coffee making facilities were available, and there was a large flat screen TV with access to many DSTV channels. Whilst we enjoyed our stay at the guest house, there were a couple of minor negatives. Firstly, a hairdryer was supplied but none of the two pin plugs in the unit accepted the hairdryer plug. However, I managed to find an extension chord in one of the drawers in the kitchen into which the hairdryer plug fitted, so at least my wife was able to dry her hair. Secondly, the electricity point in the corner was hanging off the wall, and was so low down in the corner, behind the table, that it was pretty awkward to reach. Thirdly, this electricity point could only hold two three pin plugs, but there were three appliances, the fridge, the TV and the kettle which located next to the point. Therefore we either had to take out the fridge or TV plug if we wanted to make tea or coffee, or we had to move the kettle to another wall point, and let it stand on the floor. Finally we woke up on Sunday morning to find that the electricity in the whole of Ceres was out due to cable theft, and so we were not able to make our breakfast or have a cup of coffee. This can certainly not be blamed on the owners, but my wife and I felt that a guesthouse of this size and status should perhaps have had a small generator, to avoid situations like this. So, in conclusion: the Palmboom Guest House is very nice, and if the small issues regarding the electricity point and the plugs are resolved, I would certainly stay there again.…
We stayed over for 4 nights. What a great experience! Everything we needed, cleaned on a daily basis and a gorgeous view of the mountains! We will definitely go again when in Ceres! Beautifully decorated!
This guest house has not fancy but well maintained clean comfortable rooms with Satellite TV (limited channels but bring your own card for more) and CD Player. It has a nice swimming pool and pleasant gardens. There is limited parking. The very pleasant owner lives on-site and is always available via cell-phone. Very good breakfast which can be a pre-packed variety for those Technicians etc. needing an early start. Wi-Fi is available for all those late-night email sessions as you have been out all day. Would be suitable for both business and pleasure visits. Situated in a very quiet street you will not be disturbed by any traffic noise.
