Sleep Quality
Petervale's campsite is nestled in the forest and overlooks a big beautiful dam! Get away from the stress and rush of city life, relax, unwind and recharge and take in the beautiful views of the farm and the Ceres valley. Our campsite is equipped with toilets, hot water showers, and fresh spring drinking water. We also offer the experience of living in a Tipi. Petervale's self catering cottages are the perfect getaway for people of all ages. They are fully equipped and furnished in an old 'farm style' theme and include good quality bedding and towels. Each cottage sleeps four persons and can sleep an extra two persons as well. All three cottages have indoor fireplaces as well as a patio and outside braai facilities. All our bathrooms do also have a bath and shower.

I can’t recommend Petervale Guest Farm enough for a few days away to recharge the batteries. Accommodation is incredible (farm-style, with everything one needs and little touches like electric blankets and down duvets! ) and the hospitality of owner Rueben Roux is just next level. The hot tubs are just the cherry on the top! For kids, the farm is just paradise and there is so much to do - walks, bike riding, feeding and petting the farm animals, canoeing, swimming … and the mist beautiful dam. The campsites are paradise!

Where does one even begin to describe this wonderland? Well, fistly, a big thank you to Reuben and his lovely parents. You guys are all amazing! We could not have asked for a better weekend than the one we had at Petervale. We slept in a tipi, under the pines at the waters edge. The forest is truly beautiful, pristine clean - we did not encounter one thorn all weekend and all of us were barefoot from Friday to Sunday. The children had the time of their lives! My grandson got to milk his first cow and both grandchildren fed all the farm animals - there is a guided tour and feeding of the animals at 9 a.m every morning. Children are also welcome to visit the animals throughout the day. The ablutions were clean and rustic. There is a canoe for your use, a tarzan swing for the children and frozen farm yoghurt and organic apple juice for sale. Two of the friendly farm dogs led us on our hike to God's Bathtub, a beautiful deep rockpool and waterfall. Sleeping in a tipi was a first for all of us- spacious and great fun! You are even allowed to pitch your own tents around the tipi. The sites are very big and privately laid out.We will definitely return to Petervale - there is something about spending time in the woods that uplifts the spirits of all who do it. And so reasonably priced too! Thank you, Reuben and family, for a very special weekend!

Pros: Peaceful, shady camp sites, hot water, nice dam, fairly cheap.
Negative: No electricity although we prefer it, very sandy/dusty at camp sites and path to ablutions, toilets/with wash basin divided with reeds with very limited privacy and sound barrier and not nice to brush teeth one meter from someone sitting on a toilet next door, farting.

Had the best time camping this past Easter long weekend with friends. Gorgeous setting. Reuben definitely works his butt off to keep it as amazing. On behalf of everyone with more than one kid get more canoe's!! More canoe's and ablutions in the other areas would make this the perfect campsite!

We normally do have more watercraft on our dam for the use of our guests. They must have unfortunately been in for repairs when you visited. We do apologies about that.

My family and I loved discovering this amazing camping site. We stayed in a TP, which was neat, clean and had its own fire place. It was right next to the dam and very near great hot showers. Ruben and his team take pride in what they do - and they do it well! We will be back :)

The initial enquiry and booking was handled in a professional manner. The setting is superb with the sound of a trickling stream and mountain views, perfect for relaxing which we did! Regards the cottage, it is reasonably furnished and a plus are the indoor fireplaces. The owners should take note of the following points - additional blankets in the second bedroom should be provided, it was still the end of winter afterall! Some TLC should be applied to the cottage, lounge and bedroom windows have no catches to hold them in place and bathroom window is held together with wire. Not what one expects at R1300 per night. Thought should be given to placing casual relaxing chairs on the patio in addition to the bench table. We had a good week end but I do not think enough care is being given to the cottages. This is a R700/R800 per night cottage.

A surprisingly enjoyable weekend away which the whole family enjoyed. Kids enjoyed the dam and animals, we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Used one of their tipis so didnt have to set up anything, everything was ready for us to enjoy.
