we were really disappointed in the booking service, and general lack of communication from this place when we booked our tent. I had to call several times to check that they had indeed received the booking/deposit and my request for a private tent away from the main ablutions. We arrived and the road was very badly sign posted, the tents were a disappointment and we were given a tent right next to the ablutions and main lapa, which was exactly what we had specified that we did not want, which shows a certain slackness on the part of the staff doing the bookings. I would not class this as luxury accommodation although the linen was fresh and white, the bed comfortable and the views were fabulous it's a far cry from luxury. the bathrooms were covered in spiders webs, surfaces were dirty and the shower could have been a little better, towels were small and smelt mouldy. the main lapa although comfy and homely makes a difficult space to share with total strangers due to the layout of the kitchen and indoor braai area and one tends to feel that you are always in other peoples space, nice idea for large groups of people but not great for a couple wanting a bit of privacy. The one thing that redeems this space is the breathtaking nature... Would I go back again?..perhaps if this establishment saw a change of management and they made some changes..the potential is still totally untapped

So we booked the accommodation via a voucher. When Jolandie heard we are using a voucher her tone of voice changed and she became very rude and unhelpful. I mean really! Did we put the establishment on discount? The tents are a good concept but definitely not luxury accommodation. If you compare it to campsites then yes, but if you compare it to other "built" accommodation this was average.

We loved:
Cleanliness and clean smelling, white linen.
The sunset and views from the lapa.
River stream running passed the tent creating a calming atmosphere.
Style of accommodation fits into the surroundings.

Did not like:
No welcoming by management or Jolandie. Nothing while we were there.
After we indicated that this was our first year wedding anniversary upon booking we still got two single beds, Thank you for being so sincere.
The mattresses are stone hard. Very uncomfortable.
Shower water kept going to 60 degrees then falling to 10 degrees all in one minute. Not pleasant.
There is literally nothing to do except canoe on the Palmiet River. Cannot take a walk on the farm as signage indicating Private property, no trespassing allowed. If you enjoy reading and lazying about this is the place!
Invasive alien trees spoil the true beauty of the natural vegetation.

Would I recommend the place - no. There are better and friendlier accommodation in Elgin.

Perfect place to catch your breath and get back to nature.
Take a book, some wine and your favourite snacks and escape to this piece of heaven.
The tent and facilities are comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The lapa area is well stocked.

Yolandie was very short, rude and unhelpful when enquiring. We decided against booking at this accommodation because we didn't feel like we were really wanted there. Very unprofessional and rude from the get go!

This was the worst experience ever myself and my husband left the place in a hurry at 19:00.. and had to drive around on our first night on honeymoon looking for a place to sleep total waste of money and time. I wont advise people to go there.we felt so unsafe there.

If you want a weekend away for piece and quiet this is the place to go .Beautiful nice tents with everything you need and if you want company the lap pa is where you make food and meet new people. River a bit low due to drought but you can still take a row on one of two bouts at your disposal free of charge

Arrived at 13.30 to be met by cleaning staff. Not once during the stay was Jolandie or Zelda seen. Definitely not clamping the tents have the bare minimum, the towels are hard, the chairs and the bed are very uncomfortable. The fridge needs repairing it froze everything. Maintenance to the tents are clearly not a priority.
I would definitely not recommend to any of my friends. I suggest you remove glamping from your advert.

Had a great time at this tented camp. The location is really good. But be warned about access to the camp in that you will definitely need a high rise vehicle (SUV or even better 4x4). Do not expect luxury and you will be pleasantly surprised at the tented unit and the location. The common/braai area is great in terms of having all the necessary facilities and utensils required for preparing your meals. It's also great for meeting people or just reading a book or browsing through a magazine. Jolandie, the lady that dealt with my booking was very accommodating in that I arrived 1 day earlier yet she and her team made a plan to accommodate me. Do not expect the usual hotel reception because afterall this type of setup is different. The nearby Peregrine "farm stall" is conveniently close for great breakfasts and late lunches or fabulous takeaway home made pies, quiche and breads. Overall Elgin Tented camp really is a good different experience. Three nights stay will be long enough to fully enjoy it and its surrounds.

We had a very nice stay here. Our tent was the closest to the lapa. Our tent was clean and comfortable with magnificent views. The lapa area is very nice with a kitchen, braai area as well as a outside deck area. Please be advised to take water and wood and it's not advisable to go with a car. Remember to take a hike down to the beautiful river.
