My husband works away at sea & we decided to take a trip upon his return and could not have chosen a better place! In between olive vineyards, peaceful, serene. The most beautiful cottage equipped with everything you could possibly need. Besides being clean and spacious, we loved front stoep area and weber braai, the lovely bathrooms and i wished i could have taken the shower home with me! What a spoil! Our hosts was there when you needed them but not "in your space". We have already recommended this gem to others and we're so definitely going back!

We just had our wedding at Rockhaven Farm and I really cannot praise the venue highly enough. The venue was perfect for us - it was just the the right amount of rustic and chiqueness we wanted. The food was divine and Liz knows exactly what she is doing! She helped me along the way and gave me some awesome tips and ideas. The service was fantastic and Liz and Michael were the perfect hosts. The accomodation was great - the frog cottage was extremely comfortable and luxurious and the rustic cottage is rustic just as Liz explained. The boathouse overlooks the dam and a perfect place for our vows. It truly was an awesome day and I would recommend this place in a heart beat - even just to get away to the country and stay at the Frog cottage :-)

This delightful venue hosted the Wines of Elgin Chardonnay Colloquium last weekend, and did so with aplomb. Great setting in a beautiful area, ideal for a lovely wedding. Delicious food presented superbly. Accommodation on site as well.

We attended a wedding at Rockhaven and it was absolutely beautiful!!! The scenery is breathtaking and we had a great time. But I could not believe my ears when I heard the way the owner Liz spoke to all involved with the wedding. She is plain rude and was unprofessional and had no respect for her client!!

This is a self catering house for holiday rental. We stayed in the smaller cottage.
Rate is reasonable and they were very accommodating of our dogs. Getting hold of the owners to book, ask questions and also when we arrived was quite difficult ( we waited half an hour to find the owner so we could get the keys). I suggest arranging an exact time of arrival.
No aircon or fans in the house so it got really warm inside, suggest bring a fan if you can. Lovely dam to swim in which is a short walk from the cottage - it has lovely shady trees along the bank. Nice place if you want some peace and quiet and like being off the grid. We stayed there to attend a wedding nearby. The smaller cottage has two decent sized bedrooms both en suite. The kitchen was well equipped and the living area quite comfortable. The only complaint was a dirty (perhaps stained not dirty) blanket on our bed but the sheets were clean. It is also a wedding venue and would make a very pretty setting for the ceremony.

Room Tip: I think the larger cottage is closer to the dam which has a nice view and is cooler near the water.

I really can't praise this venue highly enough. Rockhaven is simply, naturally beautiful. Tucked away in the Elgin Valley, surrounded by apple, pear & olive trees, watch the sunset over the hills in the distance, dip your feet in the water from the deck of the dam, or join their friendly labradors for a swim. The food was e.x.c.e.l.l.e.n.t - our guests still rave about the beef fillet we had, and the service was spot on. Liz is just the kind of person you want on your side when organizing your big day - practical, efficient and full of good advice. Our room was lovely too, the bed super comfy & I loved the victorian bath. All in all, we had the best day ever, and this wonderful farm is our happy place. Thank you Liz & Mike for sharing your home with us, and making our wedding such a fantastic success. Caroline & Luke

We were married on Rockhaven Farm a year ago. When we were first looking for wedding venues, we had seen photos of friends who were married there and all the photos told the same story: of a place with natural beauty, honesty and authenticity that made for very special occasions. We visited the farm a year before the wedding and knew instantly it was for us.

Mike and Liz who run the farm are incredibly warm and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Liz usually caters for the weddings and arranges the serving staff, and the food is of an incredibly high standard, bettering most restaurants I have eaten at in South Africa or abroad. Our wedding was everything we wanted it to be thanks to them, and we could not have been happier with out choice of venue.

We recently visited the farm again as it was coming up to our anniversary and wanted to experience being there again. Mike and Liz welcomed us like old friends and we had a wonderful stay. The rooms and accommodations are very comfortable with lovely bathrooms - just don't expect to get hotel service. This is a working farm and you will be treated like house guests, not "customers".

Rockhaven has a very special place in our lives and we will return often to this hidden gem.

8 years after Mike and I got married at Rockhaven in 2012 (incredible wedding in the most beautiful surroundings with divine hosts, Liz and Michael) we returned with our twin girls for a weekend break. Frog Cottage is stunning! Stylish, comfy, gorgeous valley views, fire indoors and a Weber outside..dam for swimming and loads to do in the Elgin valley. Thank you for a super stay!

What a tastefully furnished, cosy and comfortable spot to stay in. Perfect for the outdoorsy types with farm roads for cycling, running and exploring. With a huge dam, orchards and rolling hills there's not much more one could ask for as a post-Christmas getaway. The interior of the farm cottage was comfortable with modern finishes and felt like home the second we stepped in. Highly recommend heading out this way for a little retreat.

My husband and I had a fantastic time at the Frog House on Rockhaven with our two small kiddies. The house is incredibly well equipped - from the kitchen that lacks nothing to the bathroom that has ample towels and a hairdryer. The space is so beautifully designed and is a perfect balance between being homely and chique (I feel very few places get this balance right and the place ends up feeling quite cold). The house is private and has a lovely verandah and garden surrounding it. The fireplace also gave us so much joy in the cold evenings.
Thank you Liz and Michael for being wonderful hosts, we had a lovely stay at Rockhaven and hope to return again.
