#1 of 2 B&Bs / Inns in Klaarstroom
Klaarstroom Guest House offers you an authentic country house breakaway in the beautiful, tranquil Karoo. The guest house is one of only 11 houses in the tiny old village of Klaarstroom. Sharon and Jeremy, the owner-managers, live just across the road. Experience old-fashioned hospitality in the lovely old homestead, enjoy home-cooked meals and let yourself relax into the nostalgia of being comforted and content. There are 3 bedrooms in the main house and 2 "waenhuis" (coach-house) rooms. All rooms are spacious and comfortable with their own en-suite bathrooms. There are magnificent views of the majestic Swartberg mountains. The water-wise Karoo garden offers a restful haven for the weary traveller. The swimming pool and enormous old tree are there for cooling down in and chilling out under.

Our dogs love it, we love it ... a swim, tea under the magical tree, peace! Delicious supper - with great conversations over a bottle of wine. Comfy beds a good nights rest ... our only regret is not staying longer ...

Jeremy and Sharon met us with true Karoo hospitality. They made us feel so at home. Rooms are big and comfortable. There are 5 rooms of with room 1 has twin beds and room 4 and 5 has separate entrances. Breakfast was good! We were a group of 5, and enjoyed it, however, it might have been a different experience if there are 5 total strangers in the house, living under one roof. Owners live across the road. Do not expect a TV, Wi-Fi or "kitskoffie" - this is as remote as they come! Loved it.

Owners Sharon & Jeremy go out of their way to make you feel relaxed and at home at this authentic Karoo home. An excellent breakfast with cereals as well as eggs, bacon etc was provided. Jeremy also prepared a lovely evening meal for us of roast chicken and a malva pudding to finish. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a king size bed and full cotton sheets. The surrounds are peaceful and perfect for a really laid back visit. The mountains nearby make for some wonderful photography early in the mornings and it’s well worth the effort. We will return here again and again I’m sure. Highly recommended!

The Guest House is a real gem in the Karoo. We have stayed with Jeremy and Sharon a few times now, both on motorbike tours with clients/friends and just the two of us. There is always a warm welcome, the food is delicious, the rooms are comfortable, very tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. The patio is the perfect place to sit and take in the stillness and beauty of the Karoo.

We stopped for a night in Klaarstroom as part of a Karoo road trip. Wonderfully generous and welcoming hosts. Cool large comfortable rooms. Excellent showers. Cool clean concrete plunge pool (and windmill), wholesome dinner, delicious breakfast. Like stepping through the back of the wardrobe into another era. A cool oasis on a dusty trip.
