I stayed in this guest house for 1 night, on arrival I went out for the evening so didn't take a good look at the room. It was the worst I have ever stayed in. The room I was allocated was at the top of the house and was tiny. I didn't object to the size of the room, the first glance looked OK for a 1 night stay not nice but OK. The bed was uncomfortable and had a hump in it, it creaked loudly every time I moved. During the night I could feel I was being eaten alive and sure enough I had some really nasty bed bug bites. The people in other rooms were playing loud games at intervals during the night. The bathroom was across from my room. The bathroom was a shower over a bath and it had peoples bathing products and a shared towel in there. It wasn't particularly clean either, I made the decision not to shower and washed using running water. The next morning I decided to make a hot drink thankfully I looked inside the kettle which had some disgusting pink and grey marks in and something sitting on the filter by the spout. I didn't have a drink and decided breakfast at this B&B was not for me, I left early and went to Morrisons cafe for breakfast. I did not speak to the lady who runs the hotel as I was so annoyed I was frightened by what I might say to her, I am known for being blunt and honest in my opinion. I delayed writing this review but decided to warn others as adding insult to injury I found I may have brought the bed bugs home with me.

I really can’t recommend this place highly enough. I was made to feel welcome from the moment I arrived. My room was clean and spacious with a generous welcome basket full of treats. The bed was large and very comfortable. The owner creates a beautiful breakfast to order and at a time to suit. I was spoilt with delicious coffee and fresh fruits. What really made it for me was that it felt like a home from home. I will definitely be returning.

I had a lovely welcome when I arrived, from Glenys. My dog was allowed to have the run of the garden. Our room was at the top of the house, it was a double en suite. It was a good size room. The bed was large and comfy, with a basin in it. The hospitality tray was fab, with maryland cookies and chocolate mallows, plenty of milk, tea and coffee. The shower room was small, but had everything needed, including complimentary toiletries, the large soft towels, were good too. Only downside, was the shared shower room next door, was noisy when in use. Breakfast was served between 7.30-9. There were 5 choices of cereals, fresh berries, orange juice and beautiful cooked breakfast, I just had bacon, sausage and mushrooms and there was plenty of it. Even a sausage for my dog. The toast and coffee were good too. Glenys is a lovely host and I'd definitely recommend going. We'd certainly go back

Birtley guest house is clean, tidy and very cosy. Great value for money. The Cooked breakfast is the best i have had anywhere. I would thoroughly recommend them. Due to circumstances beyond my control, i had to cancel my 7 night stay after one night. Glynis the landlady could not have been more helpful in getting a full refund from booking. com (who were also very accommodating). THANKS GLYNIS! Lawrence .

We spent here ten days few weeks ago, since we were visiting some friends of us living in Wlellington. The B&B was a perfect choice: well situated, it has quiet rooms even if it is located on one of the main roads. Miss Glenys is a perfect host and she took care of us so much and if you will eat her full english breakfast be sure that you won't eat anything else until dinner.

I have been here twice now i have been up both times to cycle around the Shropshire hills. and i will come back if do more cycling! Its very cheap but Glenys is very helpful and makes you feel welcome (locking my bike away safely in the garage and also holding onto my rucksack whilst i was out cycling for the day) She can accomodate a huge breakfast any time you want and when i was there last month i had a lovely breakfast with three workers, two who had just come back from a night shift and one who was heading out to work on buildings. Both times i have had the tiny single bed room which does exactly what you need, a bed, a tv and a kettle :)

Glenys always greets with a smile and great welcome. This is what B&Bs are all about great place to stay, good value, and a brilliant breakfast.I would recommend B&B to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the area.

Stayed here 12th June on an overnight, very warm greeting from the host Glyness. The room I originally booked was unavailable but was up graded to an en-suit for the same price. The room was very cosy with a comfortable bed, plenty of Tea/Coffee/ biscuits, very nice en-suit remote TV & free WI-FI & an excellent full English breakfast. I would definitely recommend the Birtley House for a very good overnight stay. BarryD (Titan)

rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. the landlady was so helpful and friendly and the breakfast was way beyond our capacity but she was lovely and trimmed breakfast to our appetites found the shower in the ensuite to be fantastically hot and powerful. the only real downfall was the out of date brochures but this didn't spoil our stay and i still took some to peruse for the next time we visit
