Similar to previous reviewers, this was our favourite B&B whilst we were cycling the Hebridean Way. We arrived after a wet and windy day on our bikes and were given a warm welcome by Gregor and Douglas. They are wonderful hosts and have created a lovely place to stay. Gregor cooked us a delicious evening meal (arranged in advance) and breakfast the following morning. We'd thoroughly recommend Gealabhat, they are well set up for cyclists looking for a warm, relaxing and comfortable night after a day in the not-always-friendly Hebridean weather! Lovely location overlooking the sea loch a stone's throw from the Callanish stones and visitor centre.
We are a family of 4 with 2 primary school age children touring the Outer Hebrides and this was our favourite b&b on the trip. The b&b has two rooms and we took them both, staying for 3 nights. The rooms were well appointed with comfy beds, dark curtains which were great for sleeping and excellent showers. Gregor is an excellent cook so we had fantastic breakfasts and we also opted to have meals for 2 of the evenings there - which were amazing. Our boys also loved their two well behaved dogs. The b&b is in a great quiet location, walking distance from the Callandish Stones and central for exploring both Harris and Lewis. We absolutely loved this place!
Loved this place - we were made to feel very welcome. Gregor cooked us an evening meal (booked in advance) in his kitchen, whilst we sat in the dining area - we chatted about the local area, the islands and his family history on the croft and much more! If you get a chance, try his home-made apple crumble. :-) After dinner, we walked up to the Callanish stones (5-10 minutes max) and were very lucky to get a break in the clouds / rain to see a partial sunset from the site - wonderful! We only stayed one night but I would thoroughly recommend this B&B to anybody travelling through the Outer Hebrides, especially if you are visiting the stones. The breakfast was all cooked fresh too and was spot on.
Great B and B run by Gregor and Doug. An old Croft that has been in Gregor’s family for many years. A lot of work has gone into making a homely place to stay and they both clearly work very hard to maintain high standards.. Gregor is a very good cook and would highly recommend the evening meal. The place is spotless - probably the best B & B we stayed at on the Outer Hebrides.
Made to feel very welcome from the very start. Lovely accommodation and fantastic homemade breakfast. The B&B is very close to the standing stones, and is a great launch pad for visiting other parts of Lewis. Would definitely stay here again!
