I can’t recommend Hilmoor Stone Cottage enough. This was our 2nd time staying here but the first time with our kids.
Our children fell in love with the farm. We had such a great time that we booked an additional night. The cottage feels so authentic but you have all the modern touches you need.
Beds are comfortable and linen is good quality. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious. You have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The farm is absolutely beautiful.
Brenda and Ivan are absolutely spectacular hosts. They make us feel part of the family. They go above and beyond.
There are so many special touches all over the cottage.
This place is so worth the visit.
There’s a lot to do on the farm. You can go hiking in the beautiful surroundings.
There is a nice size pool to cool off in, there’s a tennis court and table tennis.
The perfect escape to appreciate the beauty of the Karoo. You can never imagine how many stars are visible at night.
I can’t wait to go back again.

We were very warmly welcomed. Cottage was superbly equipped, pleasant and cozy. We also enjoyed relaxing in the sun room. We had many pleasant Karoo walks on the farm. The stoep braai added to the wonderful experience.

What an amazing place on a working sheep farm. A tastefully decorated stone cottage in the peaceful Karoo. Hearty, delicious South African home-cooked food! Stunning vistas and spectacular sunsets. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

We booked last minute en-route from the UK. Brenda was quick and efficient with her replies and we were absolutely blown away when we arrived. This is a beautiful 3 bedroom, all en-suite, farmhouse located about 30 mins from the town of Steynsburg. It is within easy reach of Gariep, Molteno and Burgersdorp and is, in our opinion, by far the most luxurious accommodation for miles around. The interiors alone are worthy of a high-end decor magazine. While marketed as self catering, a comprehensive menu of farm made meals are available for pre order and all the basics are on hand.

The house was serviced daily and the little touches such as electric blankets, fragranced candles, wood for the fireplace, homemade rusks and complimentary wifi made the world of difference. Brenda and Ivan and their team were on hand should we have needed anything.

The views from the front porch are stunning and you can enjoy walks on the farm which also has incredible bird life.

We have already decided to return!

A lovely cottage on a functional sheep farm. Ivan and Brenda are gracious and friendly hosts who have vast knowledge of the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! Thank you!

We only spent 1 night at Hilmoor Stone Cottage and were pleasantly surprised to find this gem. A beautifully renovated cottage, well equipped and decorated with love.
The kitchen is fabulous, the bedrooms spacious and the bathroom has a spacious shower. There is a beautiful porch with a built in braai and a fire pit. Never seen so many stars once it was dark. Felt very welcomed by Brenda and Ivan who went out of their way to make it a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the home made rusks, the delicious breakfast one can order. It is a bit of the beaten track but can highly recommend a stay over on the way to KZN or the Cape!

We had two nights at the Stone Cottage, one on our way to our holiday destination and one on our return.

This beautifully renovated old farm cottage is decorated with modern touches without losing the character of a Karoo farm house.

There are three bedrooms , all with modern ensuite bathrooms. The cottage is self catering , with a full kitchen ( be sure to pre order some delicious Karoo lamb , which is grown by the owners on the farm ).

The Stone Cottage is an ideal way to start your holiday , or is perfect for a stopover on the way to The Cape from JHB or KZN.
