It certainly lives up to its name! the red sand was a spectacular back drop for very well appointed accommodation. The rooms are very comfortable and warm (much needed in July). The dinner menu had a variety of options and generous portions.
Best breakfasts for an early departure - basic, but the scrambled eggs were not over cooked and good quality bacon.

A gem of a place a few kilometres from Kuruman.
Hiking/running/cycling trails (off-road) up and down the hills through the natural vegetation of the red kalahari sand.
Good well run restaurant
Great service, friendly efficient well trained staff! So refreshing for South Africa!
Beautiful setting

beautiful szätip-over on the way to Kgalagadi. Worth staying for more than one night, one can do hiking, watching game from the hide, or just relax round the pool. Very friendly and hospatile staff.

Hi, We stayed here on the way to the flowers and again on the way back. On the way there we stayed in unit 12.....awesome, 5-star, everything we needed. BUT, on the way back we were put into rondavel 20...nothing for self-catering. The soap dispenser at the basin didn't work, the taps in the shower don't show hot/cold.. when I asked why were given a unit without self-catering I was told I didn't ask for it. When we got home we checked, and we had.

the comfort of the bed and pillow was hard for me. i normally travel with my own pillow for this reason. please carter for both people who prefer hard and soft, and the mattress was a bit hard too. otherwise the rest wasn't bad.

My stay in general was sublime. I am quite passionate about the outdoors and Red Sands just ticked the box. Next time I am sure to pack my trail shoes to take my chances with the 10k route. I would have loved to visit the hide, but a WV polo would not have made it.
The only little imperfection I can mention is the limited variety on the menu. Although these options are crafted to perfection, sometimes all you want is a pizza and a pint.
Thank you Red Sands, you will surely see me again.

We camped and stayed in a chalet here and the facilities for both were fantastic. The staff are incredibly polite and helpful and your safety is important to them.

Kuruman has a massive security and safety problem and the advice from staff and management is great.

Definitely a place to stay but make sure you book.

I made use of the camping site with private ablution. I stayed for 6 days and came back for another a week later. The Lodge is very well managed and maintained and lacked nothing. I was greeted at the reception by the resident K9 and 3 Alpacas which kicked off an amazing adventure. The hiking trails are well maintained that makes for a pleasurable hike; the landscape breathtaking; the food and service at the restaurant outstanding. One of my best comping experiences ever. Highly recommend this facility.

We were immensely impressed with Red Sands Country Lodge. The chalet's design was perfect... exactly how we always visualised the best quality chalets in nature reserves should look. The service was excellent - friendly, quick, and competent. The food in the restaurant was some of the best we have had over the past four decades.
Well done to the people who had the idea to establish this venue! Red Sands is the perfect stopover between Gauteng and tourist places like Augrabies and the Kgalagadi.

Peace and tranquility was what we found. The breakfast was of good quality. The staff friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the 4x4 trails however we can advice that you cut the thorntrees that scratch the vehicles on the trails. Your rooms are indeed spotlessly clean. The stars at night a must experience as no one can explain the view of the multitude of stars visible at night.
