Guests are welcome to explore the reserve with their own vehicle or discover our bush trails on foot or by mountain bike. This gem is our favourite stopover to and from the Kgalagadi and Northern Cape. It is safe, provides opportunity for game viewing, has a lovely pool deck with lapa for cooling down in summer and has kept its high grade of service over many years. We have used the camping with private ablusion facilities and the chalets on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. The food at the restaurant is highly recommended and the operating hours accommodate early and late arrivals and departures.

The Lodge staff were extremely friendly and accomodating as we changed the type of room when we arrived . The Chalets were clean and bright . The restaurant was very good on both trips that we did - quality of food and service were both excellent . Would recommend this lodge for anyone travelling between Johannesburg and Kgalagadi area .

Red Sands never disappoints. We enjoyed our stay and a lovely braai on the balcony of the chalet while watching the sun set. The chalet is well equipped for a stayover and the buffet breakfast ensure that you are ready for the long distance ahead.

Good and clean facilities and well maintained. Lovely environment. I love the fact that each caravan/site stand has its build-in braaier as well as a basin for the wash of dishes. I would suggest that a small solar geyser would be installed so that hot water is also readily available.

Perfect stop over on our way to Riemvasmaak and Kgalagadi. Very friendly, helpful staff. We camped on site 103 (Private Ablutions) it is the way to go. However the shower and head need fixing including the taps. It was a real problem to adjust the water and when you think you have it right there is no pressure, just a trickle to rinse off.
I will recommend Red Sands as a stop over for anyone. We stayed in a rondavel on our way back which was excellent.

Always a pleasure to send a night or two here. The accommodation is excellent accomodation and food served in the restaurant is always top notch. Richard the owner is always around in the evening to chat to all of the guests.

This is a very good overnight stop on your way to either Namibia or Kgalagadi. There are a few campsites with their own bathrooms which are defintely worth booking. The restuuarant staff are all very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are haopy. My only complaint would be that there is only 1 choice for Vegan/Vegetarian on the menu. Despite the veg curry being delicious there should be more than one option

Amazing resort for both families or couples alike. Very chilled atmosphere by the pool or garden area where refreshments can be served as required. Owners went out of their way to bring us chairs and had a friendly chat with their daughter taking our daughter down to spend time with the animals. Restaurant was great for both breakfast and dinner, highly recommend this place and will be back.

We stayed overnight on our way from Kgalagadi back to Nelspruit. Our chalet was on the top row with an attractive view of the hillside to our left and the main lodge and other units below us. The room had everything we needed - privacy, comfortable bed with en-suite bathroom, desk, small dining table, shower, outside balcony to sit and enjoy the views. Fully set up for self catering. Lovely big shaded parking area right next to our front door. Breakfast was delicious and was served from 6h30 am which was very convenient. We have stayed here often and will continue to visit.

With only having a shower in the family suite, it was a bit challenging with two smaller kids. Would have preferred a unit with a bath.. But overall, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it for a peaceful break away. Thank you Red Sands 👏👍
