Fish Eagle Bay is a tranquil lodge situated on the magnificent Lake Malawi in the central region near the historic town of Nkhotakota. Kayak on the lake and experience the friendly people of the warm heart of Africa.
A rather pretty small lodge with rather nice beach about 6km off the road but well sign posted (but you might think you are lost - so just keep driving). We came last year for 2 nights and this time stayed 5, it is under new management and we did think they were excellent, friendly and obviously enjoy their work. Lovely beach and even though was caught the edge of some bad weather which turned the usually beautiful waters a murky brown it was still fun to swim in and even managed to body surf. Locals are friendly and not in your face. Fish and chips for 2 and a rather nice bottle of white SA wine for about £18... As an omelette expert (well I eat them everywhere) I think their morning vegetable omelettes were pretty good.

December was my 3rd time to Fish Eagle Bay and this time with my entire family including my brother from overseas from Sweden. We took the two self catering chalets at the bottom of the premises and had a great time for a week. Staff are brilliant, accommodating an always willing to assist wherever they can. The restaurant and bar are fantastic, especially when you feel like not cooking below. We made potjie by the bar as well which allowed us to watch the football. Special mention must go to Stanley, Kicka and Mike who were always there to assist. This has become my place to go at the lake from Lilongwe and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Always a pleasure to go there and will be back soon for a long weekend. Great setting and friendly staff always make it a home away from…

My brother and I stayed at Fish Eagle Bay Lodge in September. We were on a road trip from Nairobi to Livingston and I can honestly say that this is the best place we stayed our entire trip. The staff were incredible, the food was amazing and the setting is really just remarkable - way better than Thailand in my opinion ;) I'd highly recommend this place, and in fact I'm already planning my return!

This was our first stop on a two-week driving tour of Malawi. Intending to stay a couple of days, Fish Eagle Lodge was such a relaxing place to allow the stresses of life to wash off, we ended up staying four days. A terrorist attack and a General Election back in the U.K. seemed like things from another world. An almost empty pure white sandy beach, palm trees, a blue lake, friendly staff, great food even if the choice was limited, made this a place to remember.

My family rented one of the self-catering cottages for a weekend and had a lovely time. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach. The staff was very attentive. The cottage was fairly basic but very spacious and clean. We had a lovely experience and would recommend it to others who are looking for a relaxing beach vacation.

We are a family from the UK travelling Malawi seeing family and friends as we go along. We arrived after a long journey down the lake shore road and we were pretty tired to say the least. But from the moment we arrived at the Lodge the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The rooms were nice, spacious and clean and the view from our room was postcard perfect, with the beach at our doorstep. Anything we asked for they always were willing to help. When it came to food any allergies that were within the group they were able to adjust the menu without hesitation to try and cater for all. From sunrise to sunset there was always a friendly face to help with any issues we had. I would like to give a special thank you to the manager Tharina, who's enthusiasm for Fish…

Relaxing & stunningly beautiful beachfront location with very attentive staff. Kika ,Joseph & their colleagues were excellent. I would recommend Fish Eagle Bay Lodge to anybody travelling down the west coast of Lake Malawi.

Nice quiet place to relax on the beach. It's a little distance from the nearest town (Nkhotakota) so you should probably stock up on anything you might need before going, unless you have a car. The food is great.

Had a great time at this lodge. Arrived late in evening vut was still accomodated with good food (best chips in Malawi) and drinks. Very friendly staff. Lovely self catering cottages. Resort is much prettier that the photos suggest. Had one of the ladies cook for us for dinner at the cottage. Lovely experience. Thanks a lot!

The location of the lodge is lovely - just along the beach - and its setting is nice too. Its biggest pro is the round pretty bar on the beach, which is very inviting and comfortable. Its down side is the interior of the rooms. Ours was crawling with ants, coming from the bathroom and climbing onto our beds. Unfortunately the staff (excluding a very nice boy called Mike, who taught us the basics of Bao) weren't too friendly and certainly did not reflect the 'warm heart of Africa'. Food wasn't extraordinary either; it was OK and nothing more, which pretty much sums up our whole experience. Maybe it had to do with us being the only guests that night, maybe not. Anyway it's not probable that we'll come again.
